Everyone trying to "gotcha" Kenny with the Paolo crossout skill drain play has completely missed the point. All of the good hand traps in the snake eye mirror i.e. ash veiler imperm mourner will be at 3 going first or 2nd, not even counting the mid handtraps like ogre because the engine is so compact. So realistically you are never full comboing going 1st in this mirror. And then because of this every turn past the first turn crossout is essentially an omni negate in the mirror so its still good even if you go 2nd and you could even find yourself in a position where skill drain is fine if you draw it going 2nd in a hand trap war depending on the position. Its not even remotely close to the same thing as putting an unusable d shifter in your deck in a non-mirror match.

Okay but Kenny didn't mention it in the video. He didn't mention either if this is an advice for Snake-Eye mirrors or for non-mirrors. It is a general advice. Should you keep crossout in if it's only good vs handtraps? Should you side it out? Is it worth siding in 1 Dbarrier/skill drain if you are already siding 3 going 1st?
I get the shifter argument because that is basically a garnet but what about cards you can actually activate? What about cards that actually fit into your deck?

@@sajtospog9888 I agree that Kenny could have elaborated on this, but I'll give you my opinion. I personally think that snake eyes mirrors are the first matchup since the release of crossout in the tcg. I believe this for the reasons stated in my above comment. I cant think of any other matchup where I'd have had the space to fit 3 crossout even just for hts going 2nd, because to put crossout in going 2nd I have to be very confident that I would have enough hts to stop my opponent so that my crossout would actually be able to hit a ht on my first turn or say a floodgate or engine card for the mirror. The point is is that if your opponent full combos then its not gonna really matter if you have crossout for d barrier, you are losing regardless (they also probably dont even have barrier).
Tldr crossout is uniquely possitioned for this format to be a good card, it is almost always garbage in the tcg (no maxx c) and in every other matchup since its release it has been unusable going 2nd. Its only good in snake eyes because you can reliably stop your opponent on their first turn while still being able to play crossout in your deck.
Like if your deck has 15 1 card +8s and can fit 22 nonengine cards going 2nd then sure you can play crossout going 2nd, snake eyes is the first deck to meet this requirement.

Let’s not forget that many of the decks that side in D barrier have a spell negate to stop Crossout in the first place (Skull Guardian, Hope Harbinger, Odd Eyes Vortex Dragon)

All the people talking about how Paulo cross out the skill drain are kinda dumb. That’s not the same as something like d shifter. If Paulo drew skill drain instead, there’s a world where he can break a board and set up minimal interrupts+skill drain which is probably winning. If you play a snake eye deck and you put shifter in your deck, there’s almost no way you’re actually ever activating it. Not only that, but Kenny is talking about putting in cross out going first to hit stuff like this, not going 2nd. Everyone that is typing that shit is making it obvious that you do not understand the game nor the point of the video.

gamma cant be used while you control a monster. so going first it's pretty much useless since you either go full combo and win or end with ash/poplar on board which makes gamma unuseable

adding everything for an out seems wrong... but the example of crossout with d barrier feels a little bot of. I totally understand that logic against snake eye, but tenpai, voice and other decks are using d barrier in the side (most of Them lose to it too)
I personally have it in my chimera illusion side deck, and since I have a really really handtrap heavy local, I Main deck crossout. So for me it does not feel as bricky. (same locic should apply for all of the skill drain questions here)
So using this slighty percentage for an out should be kept in mind, but only if one already play those cards in main/side.

Been grinding tenpai all format. Tried 3x cross + 1 D barrier and it was a disaster.
My loss rate went up so much because my hands would be 1 veiler + crossout + engine and now im basically screwed if one extender showed up.
Nice crossout staring down appo + IP flameberge praying my 6th card is something useful

0:37 I’d argue crossout is also playable as just a mini gold sarc for decks that want certain cards banished

I think he means negate it directly not just dodge it. There's alot of cards that become useless when they are flipped or leave the field. Sauravis is a valid example tho
