Hearing this song months ago, I remember a friend asked me "hey! is that an Audioslave rare song?". It hit me right there, it does certainly sounds similar! Immediately, the guitar solo shattered him just to realize this couldn't be Audioslave at all.
This solo completely changed my life. I was content to ape Hammett/Page solos, and learn the occasional Dream Theater song. Then I heard this on a british rock magazine's sampler CD, and I couldn't believe what was happening. I had never heard such technically solid, vocally expressive playing in my life. I had to learn to play like that, and the result sent me off on a journey that I'm really, truly grateful for.
You can also try to listen to savatage. It's more metal and less rock but solos are just incredible like this one try "he carves his stone" or "ghost in the ruins"
Nuno Bettencourt and the dude from Savatage are great players, but nobody outlines changes in a rock/soul setting at lightning speed like richie does. He's just a monster.
Wow .... God's band is missing its lead singer, guitarist and song writer. Please let him stay with us awhile before you bring him back - the world needs this kind of artistry !
OMG THIS IS SIMPLY AMAZING!! the guitar riffs.. the GUITAR SOLOS... the groove..bass..the arrangements.. THE VOCALS....!!!! FFFFFFFF****K ... one of the best musicians I've e ever heard!!!
Thanks for the post! I've only heard the live version before, and while I love it, this outro with the keyboard is brilliant!!! If I were on a desert island, and could only hear one musician, I would be more than happy to listening to the many moods of Richie Kotzen--Rock God for Our Time!
I agree. I hold Richie and Prince to the same level. I am offended Richie isn't more well known. If Jimi didn't die and practiced he may have achieved Richie's skill level.
Richie one of the greatest artist alive, his music is made with soul what a shame that he is so underrated , we have to support true talents like richie. Keep rocking
Here I go playing the fool again... yeah I am, I am, I am Tired and broken by the changing hands Missing what I never had Not a dream not a thought not a one desire nothin' needed All the fear, all the loss, all the pain in me has all faded I'm losin' sleep for the last time I'm in too deep it's no surprise So here I go playin' the fool again... yeah I am, I am, I am Tired and broken by the changing hands Missin' what I never had I shoulda known by the jaded past Times can change but nothing lasts I never thought of being fooled again but I am, I am, I am Not a lie, not a fight, won't be traumatized by my anger... not too strong, not too weak I can't turn around for a stranger I feel the heat, I'm tempted still I can't be led by your own will So here I go playin' the fool again... yeah I am, I am, I am Tired and broken by the changing hands Missin' what I never had I shoulda known by the jaded past Times can change but nothing lasts I never thought of being fooled again but I am, I am, I am (solo) Here I go playin' the fool again... yeah I am, I am, I am Tired and broken by the changing hands Missin' what I never had I shoulda known by the jaded past Times can change but nothing lasts I never thought of being fooled again but I am, I am, I am
@Eche24 This song is taken from the "Return Of The Mother Head's Family Reunion" album (Japan/Europe title). The US edition is called "Go Faster". Hope to be helpful... Peace!
@pablo1982100 wow pablo ! really ?!! sad to hear about it ..well it's not hardly to believe you , me too had some problem years ago for some gigs in italy , was the period of Forty Deuce group and i know that wasn't the best time of his life but I was hoping they had finished the moments when he went freaking out ... anyway...maybe he will always be so LOL
Yep. Nearly stopped the vid you recommend at 1:45 but couldn't get past 3:50. Richie's guitar work with Howe or his vocal energy here makes him sounds flakey and wasted nowadays. Your vid has this track at a slower pace, struggling for the high notes (even missing some), and hiding behind distorting the guitar with flange, wah etc does not comprise a solo. He may rationalise his new work as a more mature 'feel' but to me he has just lost his musical imagination. Shame - he's an awesome talent.
Really like the song, but Kotzen should find a lead singer and reserve himself to doing background vocals (see: Native Tongue). Follow in Kenny Wayne's footsteps and let a better singer take the lead.
Yes yes and yes! I've seen great guitarists/song writers who are average singers. Normally its one without the other. But Richie has both abilities. An amazing singer and song writer but also a incredibly gifted and talented guitarist. ITS RARE. That is why I love Kotzen. Every musician should aim to that. And I'll tell you what, I have been inspired to at least try. So far huge improvement!
KOTZEN IS AN ISPIRATION TO ANY AND ALL GUITARIST, NO MATTER WHAT GENRE OF MUSIC.PURE TALENT
I can't imagine why this guy is so underrated. So much soul, feeling among with technical and musical perfectionism. Thanks, Richie!

かっこよすぎる❤
I can't help on hearing it again and again. I think I've heard it 8 times this evening today!
Me 2 !

people like kotzen and nuno are just.. solid, like their playing is all substance
You may know that Bettencourt is a huge admirer of RK.

I think i might sell my gear after listening this..Wow. Richie is a mega talent. Blend of feel, soul and technique is unmatched.

Richie Rocks! Cheers from Canada.

What a super sick guitar solo! Nice tune, that man has got some brilliant skills.
Richie one of the greatest artist alive, his music is made with soul what a shame that he is so underrated , we have to support true talents like richie. Keep rocking

Best rock song of the century thus far.
The solo in this song is utterly mind blowing what an enormous and relatively unknown talent!

5th March in London. Can't wait for the show! He better play this song.
The day I can play that last solo is the day that I've mastered the guitar.
Holy shit, it's so mindblowingly good. Do you guys know any similar solos?

Great version of a great track. Thanks for sharing.
None of the live versions come close to his singing or the solo here - stunning - pure genius.
my favorite guitarlist, my favorite song.

Awesome!
"Go Faster" is one of my favorite albums.
one of his best tracks, but so many, love this guy.
Here I go playing the fool again...
yeah I am, I am, I am
Tired and broken by the changing hands
Missing what I never had
Not a dream not a thought not a one desire
nothin' needed
All the fear, all the loss, all the pain in me
has all faded
I'm losin' sleep for the last time
I'm in too deep it's no surprise
So here I go playin' the fool again...
yeah I am, I am, I am
Tired and broken by the changing hands
Missin' what I never had
I shoulda known by the jaded past
Times can change but nothing lasts
I never thought of being fooled again
but I am, I am, I am
Not a lie, not a fight, won't be traumatized
by my anger... not too strong, not too weak
I can't turn around for a stranger
I feel the heat, I'm tempted still
I can't be led by your own will
So here I go playin' the fool again...
yeah I am, I am, I am
Tired and broken by the changing hands
Missin' what I never had
I shoulda known by the jaded past
Times can change but nothing lasts
I never thought of being fooled again
but I am, I am, I am
(solo)
Here I go playin' the fool again...
yeah I am, I am, I am
Tired and broken by the changing hands
Missin' what I never had
I shoulda known by the jaded past
Times can change but nothing lasts
I never thought of being fooled again
but I am, I am, I am
Bogdan Buhoi Thanks for the lyrics. 😉

He was born with a pick on the right hand !
So sad I've known him just lately. Go faster is next to my albums to buy. What a talent!

So .. F'N .. musical ! Wow :)
@Eche24 This song is taken from the "Return Of The Mother Head's Family Reunion" album (Japan/Europe title). The US edition is called "Go Faster". Hope to be helpful... Peace!
Do I love this song or do I love this song !!!!
Black screen - great idea
5.44 - 48-ish... that sardonic, sneering lick. That's the mark of genius my friends.
Sixto McReady Agreed. He's owning it as he should. I haven't seen/heard a power trio this great since Trower. Giving my age away, but excellent....✌🏻
Extraordinario! Fantástico! Alucinante!
Awesome reminds me of sound garden . That's great rock n roll
3:06 I heard a Paul Gilbert lick right here! Awesome!
I found this song very funny, in the sense of dark humour... Still it goes unnoticed among the amazing guitar skills
He's a genius.
WOW,, Q CANCION MAS GENIAL!! ME ENCANTA
i like his songs
Con mucho,la mejor versión.
Fooled Again .. cool!

Hendrix is the godfather of we all.
The best song writer, singer and guitar player ever. Sorry mr. Hendrix...
Prince is a close second
This guy is everything I thought Lenny Kravitz was going to be
He must have very clear sinuses to hit those high notes...... :) Phenomenal solo on this version.
WTF! Did you hear that solo?
From what ALBUM is this song??? This is just great!!
fucking awesome
Wonderful song, does anyone knows where i can find the complete tab with solo included?
Hate to agree with you - but you're right!
Haaa Me Too!

It's true he sings better than Hendrix. But even Jimi admitted he wasn't much of a singer.
Not in terms of musical depth - or would you care to name who these 'bettter' are? Just curious - not trying to compete or flame...
Trading one kidney for tabs.
the
Просо
saw him last sunday. he was so drunk, so high and the sound was so awful
so he got mad and kicked the micro
worst show Ive ever seen

strav12 what is your title musically? You teach, sing, what?
Good, but... there are better
Really like the song, but Kotzen should find a lead singer and reserve himself to doing background vocals (see: Native Tongue). Follow in Kenny Wayne's footsteps and let a better singer take the lead.
Take a look at his last dvd live show, and see why he definitely doesn't need a lead singer.
You should consider giving up the crack pipe.
Are you deaf? Because I would really question your hearing abilities!
This is one of the tightest songs, with THE PERFECT VOCALIST singing EVER recorded.
Yes yes and yes!
