When mysterious things show up in BTS MVs, it's usually because the vid is part of the BU (Bangtan Universe), the fictional storyline that runs through a lot of their MVs. So the water, the fire, the phones flashing in V's tunnel, the Snickers, etc... are all part of the BU. My favorite MV is Blood, Sweat, & Tears which is a piece of art. It came out in 2016, and is also part of the BU.

They aren't *all* real. The phone turning to dust was CGI.
Some of the fire was CGI. Ya they had fire behind the scenes, but they used CGI to enhance it, the phone turning into dust was CGI and the petals floating out of Jungkook's palm was CGI. So please don't be mis-lead. Bighit does use CGI, just less than what usual kpop videos are.

Fake love is about loving the fake side of yourself, living as someone else. You know like acting like the world would want them to rather than how they want it to.
Actually believe it or not, the song actually isn't talking about them having a fake relationship with someone else, but themselves..... the story connects to their older videos as well.

This is one of those BTS videos like Spring Day, Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Ugh, etc. that you really should watch the explanation video, because what you see here is just the surface of what the song is really about. It’s so much deeper, and contains themes from the works of Swiss Psychologist Karl Jung as well as references to the BTU. (Bangtan Universe, Don’t tell me that no one has told you about that yet because I don’t believe you.) also, most of the special effects here are real. They really did flood that room that Jimin is in.

So Bts have something called “Bangtan universe” in which they tell a story line, it started in an earlier album and is continuing until now, so in each of their music videos you might not understand what’s happening bc it’s a hidden message and clues for what’s going to happen next in their “imaginary story” or the story line. WINGS was realesed in 2016, starting with 7 Short Films for each member, all of the Short Films are connected with each other, this album also includes Blood Sweat & Tears
The album is bassed in "Demian" by Herman Hesse, Also includes Jung's psichology (that is include in the whole BTS discography and Story Line)

BIGGG recommendations!!! For Jimin solo I 100% suggest “Lie” because it has so much feel and the music is amazing. For Suga if you wanna hear another one there’s seesaw because you also get a little bit of vocals from him. For jungkook their is Euphoria I recommend this because it has a very beautiful concept. For RM I recommend maybe persona or moonchild either one has amazing beats and lyrics. For j-hope I recommend either the song chicken noodle soup or P.o.P. For Jin Epiphany his vocals really pop and sound really outstanding in this song. For V I recommend either listening to Singularity orrrr stigma either one is beautiful but for the music video singularity has some good dancing in it! I hope you see this because these songs will help get a better feel of them!

Brandon like the haircut! Fake Love is my favorite song from BTS too. “I grew a flower that can’t be bloomed in a dream that can’t come true”-poetry, so sad sigh. JHope/snickers, Jimin/water, Suga/fire, Jin/flower, V/phones etc is part of fictional storyline that runs throughout some of BTS’ MVs so you kind of have to start from the beginning to piece some of the meaning and connections in the MV’s together, and warning it will be confusing for newbies lol! Btw, BTS are huge Christopher Nolan fans and there are allot of references to Inception, Memento and Interstellar in their songs and MV’s. And To sum it up “Fake Love” is not necessarily about another person and their fake love, it’s also about how we feel about ourselves. (Notice they look at themselves in the mirror often like talking to themselves). Basically they’re saying if you’re not true to yourself or love yourself first, then love of any kind or for anyone will always be fake. Fake Love was on the 2nd album “Love Yourself: Tear” of the Love Yourself Trilogy and follows the trilogy’s theme of self-love “Love Yourself” where in the last album “Love Yourself:Answer” you realize YOU Are the one you should love and accept the most before you can truly love anyone else.

In all realness, I'm glad you have headphones in to listen to their songs because from a producer prospective, sometimes just listening to the song by itself without lyrics or any visuals is a journey if you have the right headphones to actually HEAR what they want you to hear. There are things in this song that set it apart from so many. It's got like pitched down short 808 rolls, it's got vocal panning, there's a baseline in there that you can almost freaking SEE. (Sorry I'm over here geeking out, it's just an amazing song)

Fake love is part of the BTSU, an entire Universe where there is a story. You can read it on webtoons called SAVE ME, but damn its deep. The entire HYYH (Most beautiful moment in life) and Wings Era are highly influenced by the BTSU. If you have an interest in this, I suggest starting at xCeleste's channel for info and what to watch in what order. But at the end, Jungkook is walking up to a 'shadow'. It's very hard to tell you what's happening without spoiling the story.
But story aside, you can always enjoy the dance practices and the lyric videos. Love you guys, I know that was a lot of info, but I just wanna help.

Already love you guys and your reactions but reacting to 1 of my most fav BTS songs on my bday=major love! You guys can obviously take this song literally but it is a part of their Bangtan Universe Storyline so it is about loving yourself. It talks about changing yourself to something else and then not recognizing yourself anymore. That is not real love for yourself but indeed Fake Love. The meaning gets deeper but the song itself is iconic BTS! And remember they rarely use green screen which always makes the MVs so much cooler! If you are interested in knowing more about the storyline I would suggest going through the videos for the Bangtan Universe, and they have hyped a Kdrama based off the storyline.

This was the first BTS video I ever saw. It is still my favorite video of theirs. I immediately noticed Taehyung and he is really the only reason I watched another video after that. I'm glad i did because I just love them to pieces. I wish i had found them sooner but I've been a huge fan now about a year and a half and I'm still obsessed with Tae! That's my bias since day one!
You should watch their live performance of Fake Love at the Billboard Music Awards from 2018. The crowd lost their minds and Americans who didn’t know BTS yet were so shocked. It was amazing.
