Mendicate Bias' is Cortana, in a cense, O.K.
Do you think chief is looking for mendicant bias because he was able to work through rampancy and chief wants help to revive cortana?
If Halo 5 does take place on the Ark then Mendicant Bias should return in some form. Wonder what happened to Offensive Bias afterwards...
I really think that 343 should make a halo game that goes back to the forerunner era, maybe during the time when they fought the precursors. I think the story would be interesting and it would add a lot more lore to the halo universe and clear a lot more lore up.
Guess you could say he was BIASED towards the flood!

In the halo 2 level "high charity", when cortana says there is a "presence fighting back", is this Bias?
Possibly Chief searches for Bias because Bias went through rampancy and could help Chief save Cortana. I do like the theory of Bias becoming Chief's partner and helping him out.
I've always had a bit of trouble with halo's lore. there were always a lot of gaps in information, that it made me assume that some things were others, or that some things were more or less than what they were. This is simply the key for my understanding of it. now it all makes sense.
Honestly, I'm getting a bit tired of people saying, "Oh, John is trying to get to Mendicant Bias to revive Cortana." I loved Cortana from the beginning, but seeing her back will just diminish the emotions I felt in Halo 4 when she "died." IF that is Mendicant Bias, and it's a big IF because for the general audience and not-so hardcore fans of Halo, nobody really knows about his backstory. I, for one, do not think that it's Mendicant Bias. I think that it's just a forerunner seeker or War Sphinx. That being said, if it is fact Mendicant Bias, they would definitely have to extend Halo 5's campaign because it'll take a long time to tell his backstory. You can't just throw him in the game and say, "Boom, here's an ancient forerunner ancilla who betrayed his creators." It would take some time to explain what exactly he is for the casual gamers planning to buy Halo 5:Guardians. Also, if it is Mendicant Bias, John is most likely going to him to gain knowledge on how to decimate the flood once and for all, not to revive Cortana. And even for that hypothesis, who gave him the information to find Mendicant Bias? If they go this route, they would have to introduce the Iso-Didact and even this would take time to explain why there are two Didacts. Don't get me wrong, as a hard-core Halo fan, I wouldn't mind seeing 343i go down this route, but you can't just think about the hard-core fans. Unfortunately, you need to make a game for the, "casual gamers and gamers who are new to Halo's story." But, like I said, if they went down this route, the Iso-Didact returning to help humanity would be quite spectacular to see. The Iso-Didact loved humanity, so it would make sense for him to help John, since I do also feel that John has a part of the Iso-Didact's geas in him. In all, it is quite good that this game has so many fans wondering what the hell is going to happen in Halo 5:Guardians, it's just that I have a feeling a lot of fans are grasping at straws and holding on to false hope in seeing the return of our beloved Cortana. Be happy that they are reintroducing the Arbiter. He is just as awesome or even more awesome (in my opinion more awesome because Thel' Vadam is my favorite character in the Halo universe) then Cortana.
I want the awakening of Mendicant Bias to be like this:

Oh, how much better an AI villain Mendicant Bias would have been in Halo 5. You dun fucked it up, 343. You want an AI that has discovered a cure for Rampancy? Well Medicant Bias is one such AI, and makes a shitton more sense. I mean seriously, for the most part, all you need to do to fix Halo 5's campaign is replace Cortana with Medicant Bias and actully make the whole conflict between Locke and Chief mean something. (i.e. If you had made it into a boss fight where the player could choose which character to side with and then they would fight the other. Yeah, nobody would have actually chosen Locke for his cause, but it would have been a badass boss battle against Master Chief regardless. Instead, what do we get? A dumbass cutscene.)
I just realized in halo 3 on the last level when you find that terminal in the hills, cortana asks "where are you going"? And then when you see the terminal she asks "what's that"? Cause she had never seen a terminal or she knew what it was the whole time but the terminal was absolutely about medicant bias or medicant bias talking to the reclaimer about who he is.. very interesting. Halo is legendary
