I love how concise & pre-prepared your vids are....much better than listening to someone 'vamp' on the spot.

I absolutely love this technique, most of all because it looks cool af. I like collecting old books and doing it. My partner does find them and ask me what on earth I've been doing mind 😂

Sweet, Ali! :) Would it be awkward if I tried it on one of your videos? Like first transscribe it and then blank it... blankception

so glad i found your channel! your vids are so helpfull!! thank you🙏🏼
i have been writing songs since i was 9, and i'm almost 22 now. really want to start developing the craft more seriously. i haven't learned an instrument (only basic guitar chords), and don't know much theory yet. all my songs are basically lyrics and melodies i hear in my head. i really want to be able to translate the music and ideas in my mind to actuall music. although at this point, i feel rather restricted due to my limited instrumental skills. but hey, say i want to develop songwriting and perhaps even make it a proffesion, what would be your suggestions? is learning an instrument and theory necessary? if so, i just gotta put my head down and start educating my self. any tips on how to really develop, any courses one could take?🙏🏼

      Hi Alicia,
I wouldn't say that learning an instrument or theory are necessary, but they certainly can't hurt your songwriting. I'd say that the more you learn the more tools you have at your disposal to write with, and that can't be a bad thing. Particularly if you want to record your songs having the skills to make demos or even compete recordings can be very helpful.
If you're thinking about it I'd just say go for it. It's better to try and see if it helps.
Have a look at Berklee college of music courses on Coursera. They have a number of free courses that would be helpful for you. They have one on Musicianship which would probably suite you well.
      Thanks
      Ali

What's the point of blacking out text? Just transcribe the words you circled. Saves time, especially if you've got the momentum and urgency going to write your lyrics. Paper and pen (or pencil) are far more effective and helps you develop a sense of ownership through the mind-body connection.
I also recommend, after you've transcribed your words, referring back to the original raw text and see if there are any other words you might find interesting.
