It's crazy how hair makes such a huge difference in someone. Dr. Linkov looks like 15-20 years younger with hair. Not that he looked bad. It's just crazy how hair can make a difference in your appearance.
@@Paradys8 Because there is no cure, he cant fix it. Most things have no cure and treatments only work for some, usually for a short period and they come with terrible side effects. Medicine is very limited, unfortunately.
I lost my hair years ago with cancer treatment medication (taxotare). It came back but very sparse and thin. It's almost like a reverse mohawk. I wore wigs for years and spent so much on shampoos and supplements. I would try anything but have gotten so disheartened lately. I am happy to be cancer free for the last 16 years and i try to keep that in mind when I feel ugly and self conscious about my hair.❤
When you do these steps, it can help reduce hair fall, similar to it helped me. Keep your scalp clean by cleansing it often. Use a mild shampoo. Make sure to get adequate sleep every night. Wash your hair 2-3 times each week with liitlexteral cocooonion shampoo. Apply some oil to your hair 2-3 times a week. After washing your hair, lightly pat it dry with an soft towel.
An Indian female who faced an accident 10years back, faced noticeable shedding of brow hair and scalp hair which grew back. But, I lost 40% of my frontal hair after I got dengue in the subsequent year. I was in my teens which subjected me to a lot of bullying from my classmates. It was a very painful period for me since, I lost all the confidence in me. Year 2018 severely bothered by my hair growth, I consulted a dermat who recommended me 2% minoxidil. Rectified my diet, ensured that I am getting enough proteins (As North Indians are mostly vegetarians). 2023 - I exercise regularly now and I follow an absolutely no sugar, very low salt and seasoning diet along with protein intake supplemented with multivitamins, rosemary oil and minoxidil. I can see a gradual improvement in my hair quality.
Yessss. I need this. I’ve always been told that there aren’t treatment for women so I’ve never sought help. Now I’m almost 40 and feel like there’s been so much loss 😢
Fwiw, I felt that using the Weleda rosemary tonic has helped with hair loss, as well as taking Vitamin D. Not sure if Weleda is available outside of Germany but on youtube you'll also find lots of videos of people praising rosemary oil/tonics. It's obviously no miracle medicine but seems to bring a degree of relief to some while being affordable enough to just give it a go and see if it works for you as well.
Try regaine. Microneedling, rosamary oil, caffeine shampoos. They worked for me. And there’s good evidence behind them for pattern loss. Lots of info on internet regarding protocols. 💕
If you are for sure done having kids, and your hair loss is androgenic alopecia, 5AR inhibitors (finasteride and dutasteride) are effective for women. The reason they aren't given to women is because they can mess up a male fetus (at least this is my understanding on why women don't get them prescribed. There are studies showing these drugs are effective for women with androgenic alopecia. If you're not done having kids, wait on this though. Minoxdil also works. I am a guy, but I've had decent results with oral minoxidil. My beard has gotten thicker, so that may not be a good side effect for you (I think of it as a great bonus for me).
Don’t get discouraged . I went to multiple dermatologists who were less than helpful. I finally found a hair loss center for women run by women and have begun prp and red light therapy at home ( low level laser is said to be more effective but is much more expensive) as well as nutrafol. It’s been 3 months and I’m hoping to see some results soon. I refuse to give up hope and neither should you! I’m 40 and have been struggling for the past 10 years
I love the way you explain everything. My hair loss and thinning is part of my complex medical problems that make me feel so overwhelmed that the hair loss, while upsetting, always gets placed at the bottom of the list. I hope to put it at the to of the list some day, but I feel like I’m running out of time. I hope not. In any case, I hope when all the other problems get solved and he time comes to solve my hair loss problems, I can come to you, Dr. Gary. You’re the best. ❤
I had a massive hair loss early this year due to telogen effluvium related to stress which accelerated my androgenetic alopecia. Instead of relaxing, I was stressed even more and it became a very nasty cycle. I could literally touch my hair and it would just falloff in large amounts. Long story short, I started oral and topical minoxidil and I’m almost my third month and my hair has started growing again and is coming in in load. Hair loss may not seem like the end of the world for some people but to us experiencing hair loss is very traumatic.
I'm a male but when I got on my ADHD medication for the first time my hair loss even reversed some before I hopped on finasteride and minoxidil. My anxiety and stress levels were insane before Adderall so stress for sure plays a huge part in hairloss.
Adhd is also often a dopamine deficiency, and dopamine and cortisol are inversely linked. Chronically low dopamine means chronically high cortisol, which often leads to autoimmune disorders. Which can cause hair loss. So treating ADHD can prevent or treat autoimmune illnesses.
@@JM-gd3hr I'm gonna listen to Dr Gary and other experts when they say androgenic alopecia can be worsened by stress. I feel like you're stuck on me having an auto immune disease. Other than ADHD I've never had any other medical conditions whatsoever other than injury. I don't have any of the common comorbidities people with ADHD tend to have. I'm very aware of these and have none.
@veilmontTV sorry, I wasn't saying you necessarily had an autoimmune illness. Stress can cause hair loss on its own, but that's separate from androgenetic hair loss. It can join forces with androgentic hair loss though and make it all worse. Androgenetic hair loss is specifically the type of hairloss caused by androgens, it's not caused by stress. You can look it up. Hairloss due to stress is telogen effluvium.
As someone who has been fighting hair loss since my mid twenties and have even gone to hairclub to keep my hair. I’ve researched and continued to research hair loss to understand mine. I’m glad my cousin showed me your channel. It has helped me to further understand my condition.
Great timing. Experiencing intense hairloss for months and about to see my dermatologist. This video helped me be more prepared for that appointment. Thank you!
I've been experiencing hair loss for so long, I'm nearly bald in one big spot and it's so embarrassing. My doctor keeps telling me to take more collagen, but that's not helping. I've got autoimmune issues, hormonal issues, and meds that may be contributing. I'm so happy to see this video because I'm at my wit's end.
I just started Finasteride and oral Minoxidil yesterday! I’m a female in my 30s, who lost my hair when I did keto and lost 70lbs. I got scared and gained lots of weight back but still not my hair after 3 years. Looks like the weight loss caused a fast-forward to androgenic alopecia. I’ve fluctuated weight and tried different things, and now this. Hoping it workssss!
@@fatpinkteddy SOO interesting you say that because within 3 days of starting finasteride, I’ve noticed major breast tingling and swelling. I wouldn’t mind such a side effect, actually, but it’s very coincidental.
This video should be compulsory for all pcps and dermatologists treating women with hair loss; listen and focus on the correct diagnosis! I had spironolactone prescribed at too high a starting dose with no tests/blood work/medical history collected: the result was that my already naturally low blood pressure "bottomed out" and left me almost comatose (using the term loosely). Every MD I spoke with failed to test my DHT levels; 15 yrs into my hairloss journey I discovered my DHT was elevated 10x, only to be informed that treatment was not warranted until the levels were much higher! This is my experience with a plethora of MDs in New York City, hailing from such prestigious medical centers as Mount Sinai and New York Presbyterian. The pervading ignorance surrounding female hair loss is horrifying!
@agnieszkawendorff1789 There are natural ways to lower DHT; google and do what fits in with your life. Also, try the Revian hair hat. I have it; others require supplements to combat DHT but it uses an orange light, so supplements are not needed.
one month on topical minoxidil so far and i'm already noticing results! i use it on my hairline since traction alopecia (from frequent tight hairstyles as a kid/teen) receded it back a bit. didn't think minoxidil would work much but i'm already seeing little hairs coming in all over the place! can't wait to see the results of 6 months :)
Honestly using rosemary oil on my scalp twice a week has helped as well as using a silk pillowcases and a silk bonnet , changing to a Denman brush and taking biotin and collagen. Also doing an apple cider vinegar rinse once and awhile give hair shine It won't reverse hair loss but it helps with your hair now and makes it healthier
@@sl4983 Depends on your hair type If you have straight or wavy hair I think a boat bristle is a great way to go. It helps move your natural oils plus any oils you add on down the hair shaft. I use a Denman 7 row brush without boar bristles as I have 3c or very curly hair. It helps define my curls and it's surprisingly more gentle on my hair then the Wet brand brush Also depending on your hair type is curly -you may want to try untangling your hair very carefully in the shower when it's full of conditioner If it's more straight or slightly wavy wait until it's dry then work through starting at the bottom Going without heat styling also helps hair. Heat can be drying Depending on length it can be fun to experiment with heatless rag or pin curls, braiding hair while damp then going to bed with it in those braids, or using granny Velcro curlers. Protective stylings can help too like loose buns, braids, box braids , head wraps etc. Basically experiment with what works for you your hair type and your lifestyle. Happy hair growth friend
My hair is already thinning and I'm only 28.. I don't think anyone would look at me and be able to point out thinning hair. But it's very obvious to me. And I already had thin-ish hair to start
Very interesting. I don't mind getting older (I'm 58 now) and I'm not ever going to have any cosmetic surgery or procedures - but the thought of losing my hair does freak me out a lot. If only the hair that now grows on my face (caused by two different long term medications) all went to my head I'd be golden!
You might change your mind. I did a lower lid surgery when I was 45 after suffering much stress after Lyme disease and three ectopic pregnancies. I looked terrible with big bags under my eyes. That surgery did wonders for me and at the time was only $2,000. I am now 71 and still look good. So glad I did the surgery...
The telogen effluvium happened after I had contracted covid, literal clumps of hair fell off of my scalp, while combing or shampooing my hair. I was told to take fish oil, vitamin E, vitamin D, and used a hair oil that had neem, hibiscus and curry leaves soaked in it. It helped greatly. I still use the oil before shampooing, twice a week.
I have androgenic alopecia. Started losing my hair in my 30’s. I am now 40 yrs old and my hair is super super thin. My hair falls out in chunks. It’s devastating.
I could only dream that you were my hair loss doctor, your so knowledgeable, caring and kind and you truly understand what hair loss is actually like. It would be the biggest honor to be able to have you as my doc💜a girl can dream lol
The fact he just blew over the most common cause is a perfect example why women will suffer with all their specific problems forever unless they see about 30 doctors to find a good one.
I had a receding hairline and thinning all around the front. I just noticed a couple weeks ago that I have a bunch of new hair growth! I'm convinced the reason it's regrowing is because I improved my diet. Since February (it's now mid-November), I've been eating high quality proteins (grass-fed beef and dairy, organic pasture raised eggs and chicken with the skin, organic no sugar added pork, and sometimes wild caught salmon) plus a big salad every day. I'm pretty sure the zinc, iron, fat/collagen and biotin from the proteins as well as the silica and folate from the vegetables is what did it. I also greatly reduced my bad habit of eating out so much, which I think was causing my system to spend its resources on fighting inflammation from cheap seed oils that commercial food is cooked with, instead of wasting its resources on my hair. Anyway, before you spend a ton of money on treatments and supplements, maybe try repairing your hair through nutritious food first - you've got to eat anyway and you might as well spend your money on that. Good luck everyone, I still have a ways to go and I know how devastating this is.
Proper nutrition and managing your stress is so important in helping to prevent hair loss. Scalp massaging is good too by gently pressing on areas of your scalp and then moving your fingers gently in a circular motion.
@@Anna-zy4ysThanks for your tip!👌👍 If you're interested, check out the Nerve Doctors, as well as Dr. Eric Berg's TH-cam video on Vitamin B1 Benfotiamine for the hair.
@@yourconnection9303 oh yes! I've been washing my hair with a scalp massager for the last couple months, so perhaps that also contributed to it. I still might take some hair supplements to help encourage the growth to continue. Hopefully by this same time next year I won't feel so embarrassed of my hairline.
My hair had always been a huge part of my identity. It was always complimented by others and I never had to worry. Until recently when I’ve noticed some thinning at the part, and sunburns with scalp showing in the summer. My mum and sister have experienced hair loss and my mum had scarring alopecia. Suddenly I’m confronted with so much fear that I will also experience this. It’s barely noticeable, but that goes to show how much we value our hair and how devastating it can be to consider losing it, especially as a woman. I’m very grateful that I’ve caught this early, and I’m taking steps to get a blood test and then see a dermatologist. I know I had covid more than once in 2022, I dyed my hair and noticed excess shedding after that, and I have a past of some extreme dieting, so I’m sure there is more than one factor involved. My dad has amazing hair which has only recently started to thin a little in his 60s, so hopefully I’m riding on some of those genes.
I went through severe depression as a young teen. Wound up putting my hair through lots of stress from keeping it up 24/7 and not brushing (had to cut majority off due to knots) . I had THICK hair. Now i look like i have a cousin of alopecia its so thin with small areas of less hair growing 😭. I am stressed alllll the time too, that probably doesn't help. Im only 23, I'll try anything lol.
I lost handfuls of hair after going through ten years of extreme stress. After relaxing and changing my diet and lifestyle it quit. My front is very thin but I am ok with it at the moment. I am 71 and never used sunscream and wear no foundation or mascara. I am very happy to see how well you are doing and looking Gary. Much love...
I use topical minoxidil and red light therapy for 25 mins daily or every other day (depending on how much time I have). I also do microneedling once a week. Minoxidil, red light or microneedleing by themselves were not able to stop the hair loss. Together, not only did my hair loss stop, but I’m now growing hair. To give a short history: I’ve been losing hair all my life, in waves. Some years were worse than others, but it got really bad in my 40s. By that time, I couldn’t afford to lose any more hair in any event, so I had to come up with a strategy.
I started losing so much hair when I was in my teens. I used to have such thick straight hair. I went to a dermatologist and she didnt take me seriously at all. Barely looked at my scalp. Luckily my hair doesn’t fall out as much as it used to but it definitely falls out more than what it used to. I’ve stopped stressing out so much about it and taking care of my hair and it’s thicker than it was before but I still don’t know what’s wrong up with it.
Same here! I am still experiencing hair loss and i have been depressed as well as stressed about it. I don't really know what to do! I have gone to a dermat and as I have dandruff she looked at my scalp and prescribed an anti dandruff shampoo . I have used anti dandruff shampoo for 1 month but it didn't work that well. Now I am going to use it for 3 months and see the results. I need to get a better dermatologist I think.
@@ftyerthqrholy shit are you me? I have dandruff and an oily scalp, doc prescribed me ketoconazole 2%. Used it for a few weeks, dandruff is still the same, so I dont use it anymore. For now I've been trynna diagnose myself. Took hairless vitamins for 2-3 months, didnt change a thing (as expected. My blood test results were pretty healthy). Then took saw palmetto for a month, didnt change a single thing. Now, I will start using finasteride in order to test the very last thing: is my hair loss hormonal? Saw palmetto was supposed to be a natural thing to test that, but, it doesnt work at all. So finasteride it is
For my daughter, by the time we got to a dermatologist, she had been to a gynecologist and endocrinologist and was diagnosed with PCOS. She was given an androgen blocker and the dermatologist is having her try monoxidil. She is starting the process, we will see if it works.
@@expansaoconectada Commonly used androgen blockers are finasteride, flutamide, spironolactone, or bicalutamide. My niece also has PCOS with different symptoms, and she started taking a supplement recommended for PCOS, and she has seen significant improvement. Supplements with curcumin, vitamin D, inositol and CoQ10 have shown effectiveness in regulating PCOS symptoms.
I'm a female and I started slowly but gradually losing hair in my temple area maybe 2 yrs ago. I was also getting a lot more hair clogging my shower drain, and coming out in my brush. I went to my derm who did the pull test, and I tested positive in every area except the crown. She had me start topical liquid minoxidil, and Hair La Vie vitamins. By 3 to 4 months in I noticed a massive difference. My hair wasn't falling out anymore and I could see new regrowth along my front and temple hairline. I dropped my minoxidil to once a day after the first 5 months. And I had amazing thick hair (as it had always been) for about a year. Then as if out of nowhere my hair started falling out again. It's now worse than it's ever been. The only area that hasn't thinned is the very top of my head. And I've never stopped my vitamins or the minoxidil. I don't get it. It's super depressing. Every time I think about my hair I get depressed. And the only thing I can think of that changed is I was put on a blood thinner. But my vascular dr reassures me it shouldn't affect my hair because of the type it is. So I'm at a loss. Wish I had an answer. I will say my mom's hair thinned out considerably once she got in her 50s. But I just turned 42. So idk, maybe it's genetic and I have no hope.
I tried hair la vie and nothing happened, hair kept shedding. Tried other hair vitamins and biotin still nothing changed, more thinning more shedding. I'm done on hair vitamins, I'm using natural hair oils only from crisan hair and topical biotin hair serum from difeel. I see thickness improvement and shedding gradually slowing. Its all hormone related, high testosterone dht androgens, coupled with stress which makes everything worse worrying about lossing your hair. I'm thankful fir natural remedies and not progressed hair loss at least. Vinegar hair rinse helps purify the scalp and strengthen hair. Stay away from sulfates in shampoos it doesn't help with hair loss but accelerates the process. Ive also had oily roots dry ends my whole life, so clarifying shampoos once a week will help.
@@Majesty12-12 Hmm. Thank you for the recommendations. I will say that after a few months of taking the hair la Vie, my arm and leg hair started growing back (unfortunately). So I do think it worked in that aspect, but no idea about my scalp. My derm had said their were only 2 vitamins that have studies proven to regrow hair, and Hair La Vie was the cheaper of the 2, that's why I chose it. But yeah who knows how much of a difference it makes on the scalp. Oh I've also been off my blood thinner for 2 mths (I'm taking a baby aspirin instead because I have a leg stent for May Thurners syndrome) and I've seen no improvement. So it definitely wasn't the blood thinner.
I have always had pretty thick hair. I noticed some hair loss at my temples perhaps from tension and pony tails. I started using deciem hair density serum all along my hair line and it works! I have a whole bunch of baby hair growing throughout my whole hairline.
I was hoping Dr. Linkov would cover hair loss related to cancer treatment. I lost about 50% of my long, straight, natural blonde hair. What's growing back is sparse, strawberry blonde, and curly. I am grateful to have any hair at all. I am just wondering if my hair will now be curly, strawberry blonde, or if it will go back to the way it was? I am a year out from treatment. I know some of Dr. Linkov's awesome followers will have some input on this topic, so thank you in advance!🩷
My hair grew back ok ish eventually, but after eight years it’s suddenly all started falling out. And basically every treatment listed is contraindicated for the cancer I had. So it’s like prolonged torture. I’m stuck in permanent flashback to chemo. I hope you have more luck!
My hair came back funky after chemo too, i have lots of thinning on the front part of my hair line going back about 5 inches. Its very discouraging because theres not a lot of hair loss specialists in my area and treatment is expensive, ive been debating on just shaving my head and rocking a wig.
@courtneyprice7363 I'm so sorry to hear that. I think if mine doesn't become more consistent and workable, I will start wearing wigs. I wish you only the best.
Thank you for this great in depth video 🙏🏽❤️ You were very handsome with no hair, but you are looking fab with your hair growth and love how the eyebrows and hairline are framing your face too. You must be so happy 😊
Oh my I just connected my dots. I had alopecia at age 9/10 and my dermatologist got me through those years. Three years ago my hairline receded equally on both sides. We’ve always thought it was PCOS and high stress from PTSD.
There were 2 times in my life that I experienced hair loss: Postpartum my hair came out in clumps in the shower, very scary! Thankfully it grew back pretty quickly. The second time was during a period when I was using dry shampoo. It was mixing with the oil on my scalp and clogging the follicles, and my hair was thinning quickly. I stopped using the dry shampoo and my hair became thicker again. I think product build up on the scalp can be causing hair loss for a lot of women & they don't realize it.
I would highly recommend anyone experiencing hair loss go to a dermatologist sooner than later. Sometimes, you are just throwing your money away on things that won’t work.
Thanks for all the information. My dermatologist did a biopsy on my scalp. I was diagnosed with Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia. My dermatologist wants to stop the inflammation so the Alopecia will stop spreading.
I had hair loss this year and not quite sure but think its related to use of olaplex. Dermatologist recommended minoxidil topically 5%2x day. I started using it 1x day saw a lot of shedding for 6 weeks and now about 3or4 months since I started using it I have seen incredible hair growth even at the temples which had receded from peri and meno hair loss. Now I use it every other night. I will say that hair on my face has been more noticeable. When I have used up the 5% I will transition to 2% and then see if I can taper back to a few times a week.
Hi. Before you start to use a lower concentration and for lesser days, talk to your dermatologist first, cause it can reverse the results. From my experience, go with the potent concentration, 5%. About the hair face, yeap, I have experienced it to, so I have some tips. Sleep with something covering your hair, to avoid the minoxidil to go to your pillow and rube your face. Also, to remove those extra face hairs I use the dermaplaning blade. If you dont know what it is, I recomend you check Dra. Dray videos about it or Cassandra Banckson videos. Take care!
@sr28774 thank you for the hair covering tip, will definitely try that!and I agree the dermaplaning does help with the unwanted hair. My dermatologist is OK with me going to 2% but thanks I will be monitoring for changes!
This is a great post. I am a black woman who wore wigs for 12 years as a fashion accessory. Of course, I didn't realise the damage I was causing until my hair started breaking. Then I read about the miracles of onion juice, which caused the worst damage as my hair fell out in handfuls. For the past two years, I have stopped wearing wigs using homemade products and started to use high street products like olive oil, castor oil and leave-in conditioners. My hair improved greatly, but the two bald spots I inherited from wearing wigs and using onion juice rinse never fully recovered. My crown is still thin. My bald spots on each side of my head are fairly visible, too. You mentioned the health of nails, which I found very intriguing because if you see how my nails grow long, you'll never believe they belonged to me. I am 52, and my iron is good, but my vitamin D was low in my recent bloodwork. So, I guess if the bald spots still haven't grown back properly, they never will, right? I've lost all hope.
I think you should try using topical minoxidil regularly. I saw my crown area grow baby hairs after just one month of using it once a day. But my main concern is the bald spot at the front, and minoxidil doesn't work for that..
I would not qualify for 'hairloss' in the US but in Korea , yep. Ever since I was in my mid 20s, I felt my hair was not as thick and strong as it was in my teens, which is the case of 99.99999 percent of people. My dermatologist said, hair is an extension of your scalp. We all age after 18, as does our hair. For people who do not have genetic disorders..but just growing old.. our hair thins since we are 18. Our hair grows slower, and takes longer to come back after it falls out, loses shine and luster bit by bit and than gradually does not come back at all. If you look in the mirror and think, I like my hair right now, its time to start minoxidil, is what he told me. Topical Minoxidil turns back the clock a few years and keeps things as they are. I was born with the thickest hair I had ever seen on a person, and it still is very thick, just not as much as it was in my 20s. I started minoxidil this year as well as supplements for the scalp and hair (biotin and whatnot) and my hair is shiny and thick as it was in my 20s. Oh I am 39
I am a woman. In France, Finasteride prescriptions are limited to young men between 18-40 years and are not authorized for women. My dermatologist, along with other doctors, refrain from prescribing it to women due to the significant risk of breast cancer. I suffer from androgenetic alopecia following menopause, and it appears that Minoxidil is the only available option, which I consider more of a cosmetic solution-it doesn't tackle the root cause of alopecia. However, having learned about spironolactone from your video, I plan to discuss this option with my dermatologist..
This is by far the most detailed video that I've seen on treatment for the various types of hair lost in women. Sure glad I take vitamin B12 and biotin but now I am trying the laser only for about 7 days so far. Things may have been worse had I not started taking supplements but I've had very little help from dermatologist in my area. I really need to find a good hair loss specialist. Happy new year!
Myself as well as many other women in the military had hair loss from the tight bun everyday which is why they finally changed women’s hair regulations to prevent it
My hair started to fall out in my teens. Never got better. I've tried topical minoxidil and was on it for years but it too much work for me. And my hair was always grease from applying it. So I gave up. If stress happens I lose more hair and my brows tails too...
@@ziera0077 thank you! I've rested ok on iron and ferritin. But time flys and it could change. Lab test are cheap where I live, so I need to test again and maybe try this thing you are talking about.

Oral Minioxidal is AWESOME . I got hypertricosis on face but nothing that couldn’t be zapped by electrolysis . Also added in spironolactane last month because I can’t take finastride due to having the BRCA mutation. Looking forward to increased results
Oral minoxidil unfortunately wasn't worth it for me. My hair only got thicker for couple of months, nothing new grew back. And my face after over two years after i stopped it is still hairy. Unfortunately I'm blond, so I can't laser it off. The side effects, including face and neck hair, and quite substantial water retention - my anckles were huge. I've been on spironol and finasteride for about 8 years tho. The androgen alopecia was reversed, the frontal fibrosing alopecia was stopped, with minimal gains. Recently after micro needling it got little better.
@@stupka1111 sorry to hear that. Have you looked into electrolysis for facial hair zapping? It is very effective for blond/grey hair. Key is to find a good electrolgist. have hair loss at the temples and harline. It started from having pneumonia and being on prednisone for 5 months. I lost eyebrows, so had micro blading, which I hate. My eyelashes fell out, but I use Latisse and currently use a cheap lash serum, Lavish Lash, which works. For no reason, the eyebrows are growing back. have weird patchy hair growth at my temples now. I'm using minxodil 5% with Tretoin, which gives me a really nice rash, but this is the most growth I;ve had since 2018. also had telogen effluvium from Covid. A lot of hair came out and it was so tangled, I cut most of it off. This was in 2020. It's since grown almost to my waist. I had prp for that but prp did not help the temple loss
If you watch Dr. Shareene Idriss (derm), she herself adds a drop of Latisse to her front hairline along with everything else she is throwing at her hair thinning.
I've never been to a dermatologist specifically but now I'm thinking about that. Apparently I don't have androgenic alopecia because I lost hair all over my head, and my eyebrows are almost gone too. I also have excess hair on my face and arms that would suggest hormonal imbalance, but the family doctor I went asked for bloodwork to see my hormonal level and everything was fine, I did ultrasound to check my ovaries, it's all fine, thyroid is fine. So I kind of gave up, if there was nothing wrong, there's nothing to fix. But it just keeps getting worse 😢
It turns out that when it comes to blood work to test hormones, one needs a specific comprehensive blood panel test. Many doctors are too lazy to orders that test. Also, your family doctor should have sent you to an endocrinologist ! It's so hard to find a good doctor or endocrinologist at all, really.
Body changes caused low estrogen levels. After several years of very low estrogen, began having frontal fibrosing alopecia (hair line was receding and some diffuse thinning on the crown). After 4 years of this hair loss, got on 2.5 mg per day finasteride. Good results. Dermatologist wanted to do a punch biopsy to see the cause of the inflammation, but I was afraid of the scar that would cause.
I think mine is caused by undiagnosed Sheehan's. As soon as I had my second and last child, I hemorrhaged. Immediately my sex drive disappeared Within 2 weeks my hair was falling out, my hair texture changed, my body changed, my weight went up and down with no lifestyle change, etc.

Have been using this cocooniiion oil from liitllextra more than 6 months and got another one. The oil really cut down hair fall.

@@JM-gd3hr no symptoms of autoimmune disease. Just classic androgenic alopecia. No history of if in my family either. Pretty sure it was just stress
@@veilmontTV stress does not cause androgenetic alopecia. It's a response to androgens like testosterone.

Have you found any treatment for elevated DHT?

@agnieszkawendorff1789 There are natural ways to lower DHT; google and do what fits in with your life. Also, try the Revian hair hat. I have it; others require supplements to combat DHT but it uses an orange light, so supplements are not needed.

Depends on your hair type
If you have straight or wavy hair I think a boat bristle is a great way to go. It helps move your natural oils plus any oils you add on down the hair shaft.
I use a Denman 7 row brush without boar bristles as I have 3c or very curly hair. It helps define my curls and it's surprisingly more gentle on my hair then the Wet brand brush
Also depending on your hair type is curly -you may want to try untangling your hair very carefully in the shower when it's full of conditioner
If it's more straight or slightly wavy wait until it's dry then work through starting at the bottom
Going without heat styling also helps hair. Heat can be drying
Depending on length it can be fun to experiment with heatless rag or pin curls, braiding hair while damp then going to bed with it in those braids, or using granny Velcro curlers. Protective stylings can help too like loose buns, braids, box braids , head wraps etc. Basically experiment with what works for you your hair type and your lifestyle.

Love seeing your own hair regrowth journey! Looking better with every video. Thanks for what you do!!!
Congrats for your hair recovery Doc!!!

@@yourconnection9303 oh yes! I've been washing my hair with a scalp massager for the last couple months, so perhaps that also contributed to it.
I love how you explain everything! I've been gone through hair loss quite a few times cause of my stress, especially when it's exam season.
It is great to see your hair growing back!

I’m gonna be honest, those vitamins aren’t doing anything
But yeah who knows how much of a difference it makes on the scalp. Oh I've also been off my blood thinner for 2 mths (I'm taking a baby aspirin instead because I have a leg stent for May Thurners syndrome) and I've seen no improvement. Three years ago my hairline receded equally on both sides. We’ve always thought it was PCOS and high stress from PTSD.
You look great Gary. Well done.
There were 2 times in my life that I experienced hair loss:
Postpartum my hair came out in clumps in the shower, very scary!
Wow your hair coming back looks mega !!
I have heard several dermatologists say that oral minoxidil has serious effects on vascular health and is not worth the risk
Really? I've not heard that?
That would make sense ... It is a vasodilator, so I don't see why it wouldn't
@@LaRubia62 Oh thats great! Take care ☺️
Omg, I have been reading about all the poor people who used Olaplex products & experienced hair loss & breakage! 😮
I am on this. But think it might caused my breast to grow
I would love to find such a competent and thorough doctor as you in the Tampa fl area
Healthy diet plus natural skin care products makes a huge difference!!!
I work in a small salon. It’s a real issue we hear quite often.
Onion juice is good for your hair isn't it ??
Oh I am 39
I love Korea’s healthcare. Stuff I was ignored for in the US they said yes in SK and I got treatment. Good treatment.
Happy new year!
wooow, so much of your hair has returned. amazing
Are you maybe low in iron? If so please try floradix iron formula. I have used it helped my hair to become thicker and energy levels have increased
@@ziera0077 thank you! I've rested ok on iron and ferritin. But time flys and it could change. Lab test are cheap where I live, so I need to test again and maybe try this thing you are talking about.
Mine, Female: Front hairline forming a small triangle back. Have always had this issue. Grew back in just fine after chemo. Then, reverted back to triangle loss. 🔺️ 🙄
Oral Minioxidal is AWESOME . I got hypertricosis on face but nothing that couldn’t be zapped by electrolysis . Also added in spironolactane last month because I can’t take finastride due to having the BRCA mutation. Looking forward to increased results
how long have you taken it
You can take topical finasteride
@@ari-jvthe route of administration doesn't change their genetics, the risks for them would still be there.
I live in MA which has very strict certification guidelines so most here are really good. I got good results from PDO thread insertion too
Such a comprehensive and detailed illustration..
Been waiting for this!!
A future video idea: Ways to manage or regain control of trichotillomania? (known as hair pulling/ocd)
have hair loss at the temples and harline.
@@sarahrosen4985 That is a great idea! I will definitely be trying this!
Great presentation .
I'm struggling with this so very interested ❤
I think mine is caused by undiagnosed Sheehan's. As soon as I had my second and last child, I hemorrhaged. Immediately my sex drive disappeared Within 2 weeks my hair was falling out, my hair texture changed, my body changed, my weight went up and down with no lifestyle change, etc.
I had long hair and didn’t notice that i started to have bald spots on my head. I shaved my hair and saw it. I tought it was because of my long hair. After a couple of months i started going to the doctors they told me my scalp was damaged and there was n
I have ameleogenisis imperfecta aka no tooth enamel. I'm 36 and have needed dentures since I was 18 but can't afford them. My teeth are absolutely horrible. I have constant tooth abscesses and I'm 99% positive it'd causing all over hair loss. I use to have super thick hair and now it's falling out worse and worse. I don't think there's any hope until I get my teeth fixed. I just hope it won't be too late to reverse it. Tooth health makes up the majority of you overall health so I know I'm going to have heart disease... ugh... why couldn't I have won the lottery 😂😂
Had you been born in a country like india, you'd have got treatment at 18 itself at affordable rates
Good luck, girl 🙏🏼🍀 Wishing you the best
I'm so sorry. Good luck to you and please don't give up. There's got to be some help out there for you. Please take care ❤
Derz a beggar a homeless man right opposite to my apartment wer i live, he eats whatever he can find, and sometimes he has nothing to eat, n hez definitely not getting any organic food or healthy proteins 😂, but his hair is as thick as a blanket ❤ see how gods blessing him, he has nothing bt has everything, dens hair and clear skin 😮
I am taking a combination of minoxidil and spironolactone orally, which helps what I recently started to take organic pumpkin seed oil and black seed oil which are known to help with hair loss
My brother and I had hair problems since out teen’s. He got a hair transplant and his hair after just two years fell off. We taught there is no chance to have our hair . Then he got the renewahair oil as a gift from a friend grew his hair back in just two
What should I be looking for when seeking a Doctor?
You have great eyebrows, doctor.
Can I use minoxidil if I don't have hair loss, but I just want my hair to grow longer and be thicker?
excellent advice- i know what to try now thanks!
Thanks doc for explaining so very well 👌
I have thinning hair. I’m post menopausal. I saw my PCP and then my dermatologist. I’m going to try topical 5% minoxidil for 6 months then see the dermatologist. Fingers crossed!
I crash dieted after my 2nd time giving birth. My hair has been thinning through the years. My father is bald and my mom had always had thin hair. I'll probably have hair transplant after I reach my goal weight. For now, I'm taking anti DHT hair capsules with Biotin and zinc and other supplements. I also use hair fibersnto mask the thinning areas. I have wigs too that I can wear if I want to. I have already accepted my hair is thin.
Viviscal is the only thing that stopped my hair loss but when i stpopped taking it, my hair continued to fall😮
Dr can you give us an update on HAIR CLONING PLEASE! Like companies working on it like stemsons therapeutics and in Japan Dr tsuji and junji Fukuda.
Thank you. ❤❤❤. Looking good doc! Happy for you. ❤❤❤
Such a great video, thank you so much! What about dermapen though?
I have hair loss in the hairline and front of head. Mine is female pattern baldness. It started when I went through menopause. I was devastated as I always had beautiful thick hair. Mine looks more like Chronic Telogen Effluvium. I have to wear a topper. I wish I had my hair back.
What a great video..thanks so much!
I was told by a dermatologist I have female pattern balding 😢 that was years ago I never did anything. Recently, it’s been getting worse :( gonna try what I can from the video. Thank you!
How do we go about finding the right doctor for this issue?
Dermatologist that specializes on hair loss or a trichologist
Thank you! @@kw9859
Thank you for this video . I found it very interesting .
I have massive hair loss, but my hair grows back very fast, so I don’t have any holes on my hairline. So every time I go to a doctor they don’t take it seriously, but my hair simply don’t grow much, it’s becoming very thin on the tips and so voluminous on the top with so much new hair growing all the time. I suffer a lot trying to control my hair and so fair I haven’t seen any valuable information on how to improve this 😢
I have been taking saw palmetto supplements and biotin and it is helping. How do you feel about saw palmetto?
It’s in our shampoo, conditioner and foam! Products coming out soon.
Love it Fight it from the inside and out 😂 thyroid meds took my brows and gave me thin hair Thanks Doc
Saw Palmetto is supposed to block testosterone to DHT. I don’t think you can take it orally for a really long time though.
Doc question
If your taking oral saw palmetto for hair loss, and it’s working dose of 500 mg a day, is it safe long term and if you stop will your hair fall out again? I might need a backup plan
