    I have shot some 16,000 rounds over a two year period through my Crosman Vigilante without a hitch! I did find that the barrel became loose over time, so I glued it in place with super glue! Accuracy over 15 meters is fantastic - 1/2 inch grouping with five shots.
    Here's another tip for power! Wait for about ten seconds between shots to allow the valve to "defrost" which can affect power output. Cheers and enjoy.

    I worked at a gun store and they sold these, as well as the REAL version of it. It was a S&W, weighed exactly the same (unloaded) as this airgun. Can't imagine the kick on it, but I really wanted to buy it!

    It's been a while Giles, since we've seen you. I started to wonder what was up. I've had a couple versions of this airgun over the years. My last was a Daisy version which I still have. I take it out once in a while.
    Nice to see you're still alive Giles.

    That's not a "semi-automatic function".
    It's simply Double Action.

    • @prestonrogers8350
      @prestonrogers8350 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You actually don't need to pull the hammer to shoot

    • @Smashface_McBourbondick
      @Smashface_McBourbondick 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@prestonrogers8350 You're thinking of single action, double action guns will pull the hammer back and release it with a single pull of the trigger. Revolvers nowadays are basically universally double action, as having to cock the hammer after every shot is incredibly impractical by modern standards.
      Semi-automatic has nothing to do with the hammer, it means that a new round is automatically loaded into the chamber after the gun is fired, and because revolvers have multiple chambers that need to be manually loaded, double action revolvers are not semi-automatic.
      That being said this is all rather pedantic, so don't worry too much about this unless you want to keep talking about guns with randos on the internet.

    • @justinTime077
      @justinTime077 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Smashface_McBourbondick it’s not automatic. You need not have written a giant anal book. The OP handled all that needed be said.

      @@justinTime077 preston rodgers didn't seem to understand, so evidently that wasn't all that needed to be said.

    I got myself one of these back in 2011 and it still works just as good! I love this revolver right here! Not that long ago, I got to shoot the Smith & Wesson 586 which is very similar to this gun, except it's made of metal and of course licensed by S&W, but that gun is 259 bucks in America and the Crosman 357 is only 40 bucks, so I'll stick with my Crosman and pass on the S&W.

    Hi Giles. I have a "fix" for the magazine spindle, where the magazine is inclined to turn just when you don't want it to, eg as in checking how many rounds are left!
    What I have done is to apply a couple of layers of motorcycle chain wax - the clear sort, not the black sticky stuff! I also give the same treatment to the spindle hole of the magazine (I have six) and the chance of a mishap is reduced significantly.

  • @CoypuHunter
    @CoypuHunter 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I put a cheap red-dot sight on mine (you forgot to mention the rail!) and it now achieves one-inch groups at 10 metres in single action. It's also one of the more powerful air pistols around. Add in a couple of spare magazines, and it's a great plinker -- not to mention an effective short-range ratting gun!

      @@todorkolev7565 You are wrong. The 357 Vigilante has a rail. I have one, which is why I was able to fit a red-dot sight to the rail. You may be thinking of the 357 snub-nose, which does not have a rail.

    Excellent video and a very good gun. I bought one of these prior to getting into .22, .40 and .45 caliber guns. They are great for learning some shooting fundamentals and, with the price of ammo these days, a very economical way to have some plinking fun.

Spray some in a dixie cup and with a fine brush paint over just the texture on the plastic handle plates. You use the aerosol because it thinnet. A second coat doesnt hurt.... Hello Giles, I REALLY do enjoy your videos and hope you are able to continue doing so for a long time to come.
    All because of YOU, I bought a Crosman 357 Vigilante air pistol and am delighted with it, to say the least! So you aught to receive some compensation for your efforts.
    I have a question to ask! In your opinion, and bearing in mind that I live in South Africa where the ambient temperatures are mostly favourable for CO2 pistols, can one hunt critters such as rats, mice etc with this revolver? At 15 meters I am achieving a grouping of 25 mm AND I've been "dieseling" my pellets to increase the fps whilst using the H&N Crow magnum's - which weigh 9.26 grains.
    Finally, I have a suggestion for you folk entering into the winter months! Warm up a bean bag in a microwave or even a hot water bottle which you can then use to warm up the pistol grip, being careful NOT TO EXCEED 50 deg C, and your ballistics aught to improve somewhat!

      Hi, I have this Crossman 357 pellet gun, but when I try to replace the air cartridge, there is no release
      of gas (I tighten it hard much as I can), and when I remove it, I can see there
      no hole is punctured in the cartridge. What do I do?

    I bought on of them, but I'm not happy with the range. It's okay for 25 feet, but 40 steps ( about 120 ) you lucky if the pellet goes the distance. I tried mind a few weeks ago at my friend place we set up a bit of a range, I found out that at that distance I did hit the board a few times but not enough to make a good indent.
    I also have an American Classic pump up and that one with ten pumps I stuck the pellet into the board that it stayed there.

When i am out in the field is it okay for the rifle to remain cocked and loaded for 20 min intervals? I read that you must not leave a springer cocked for long as it can cause spring fatigue. however to hunt it would need to be loaded for 15-20 min at the time. Thanks.

      The Doge I inherited the old version of the 3576 (Mines labeled like this: 357 six Crosman Magnum). My friend has this gun with the 10 round clip, I asked to use his clip and it works almost just as well as it does with the 6-round clip. In my opinion no it isn't much different.

    I was just gifted one and I loaded the cartridge it worked. Then I loaded all the bbs and tried it again it won't shoot now it let off one shot. What am I doing wrong? (Cartridge brand new)(all the right size)
