For rides that aren't close to your residence, do you ever gps track your rides? After using some of those apps in the past, they're really useful when asked where I'd gone. Also, you guys should put together a travel book on awesome rides/drives. I'm willing to accept a signed copy for pioneering the idea. Lol Stay awesome.
Be careful you are not what you accuse others of - a bike mechanic walking round wearing a suit and making it through TH-cam might be ironic in the context of this video...……..
@@Bill-zp2mt Yeah this is what I'm getting in these comments? I'm noticing a lot of people defending the "losers" and justifying them, it's because they are losers I'm guessing and don't want anyone calling it out. It's sad.
I travel as much as I can so have ended up in Bangkok a few times, usually transiting through I should probably actually visit some of Thailand some time to be honest but have never actually gotten around to it. Every time I stay in Bangkok I meet foreigners who are "not quite right" even when I only stay one day I meet people who are at least a little off. They are usually pretty friendly to be honest so I try to brush it off but often I cant quite loose that perception of them and try to just be friendly but distant and vague so they don't end up following me. Some have before.
Lol the foreigner restaurant/bar sandbox. Where you see foreigners from both ends of the spectrum - from the doe-eyed innocent recent college grad that just started her English teaching job in the honeymoon phase saying how awesome everything is in China - to the bitter old white guy sitting alone at the bar with his beer and cigarette and complaining about how China was way better “back in the day” (5-10 years ago) before all these foreigners came along. Bonus Easter Eggs you may also find at the sandbox restaurant/bar: 1) the one really hot waitress/bartender/dancer girl that you know all the dudes in the place are trying to talk to. 2) the 1 or 2 guy(s) that dominate the pool table all night looking to show off their skills. 3) the group of middle aged Chinese people (mostly women but sometimes mixed) that stay at their own table the entire night and don’t mingle with any of the foreigner patrons. They just want to be in the presences of foreigners like it’s some kind of exotic experience. 4) the Filipino singer(s) that come in between 6pm - 11 or midnight. They sing their usual rotation of English cover songs with the occasional Chinese song sprinkled here and there. Then every 30-45 min they take their break to mingle with the crowd at the direction of the bar owner to drive engagement. 5) Ultra bonus if you get the solicitation from the old panhandler that will not leave you alone or the flower girl that is latched onto your leg as her “grandma” is standing there giving her the “you’d better not let go” look. Shit, I think I’ve just come to the realization that I spend too much time at the bar and become a loser foreigner.
Stop drinking and going to bars at night. that is the place where losers are made and eaten. Seen it many times over the last 14 years. Some died. Life without alcohol gives you drive, you will find purpose and ready to move to the next chapter in your life. Else you will be stuck, lamenting on China but being unable to escape the cycle.
Very well said, I would like to add to your list the expat who looks down on other expats because they don't speak Mandarin. Even trying to speak Mandarin and they berate you because you used the wrong tones. Those I can do without!
Nice post. You are observant and a very good writer. I would say 'get at job at Rolling Stone mag' but, I already know that they can't write/proofread/edit any of the articles they have these days and only pay 12 dollars a month. Being a pro writer is a terrible job now, but, you are a top observer of humanity and self-effacing, too. Perhaps get a job doing a column for the SCMP in Hong Kong. I miss H. Thompson. All of his writing gave me a contact high.
@@mikeryan2319 - Thank you kind sir. I seriously came to the realization that I may be a bottom-of-the-barrel regular at these sorts of bars when the image of one of these places is so vividly clear in my mind. I guess the silver lining is that my memory is still intact despite the amount of time, money, and alcohol consumed at these establishments.
Guys I’ve been in China for 7 years and The absolute majority of foreigners I’ve encountered here are a bit odd or “not hooked up right” in my experience. You don’t know their actual experiences back home, but here in China they are definitely not the type of people you want representing your country to the Chinese people. Just my two cents........
I met people who should never have been handed a visa. I don’t mean that they were obnoxious. They were either obviously depressed or had severe social anxiety.
It’s funny because I spent some time in the states as an Asian and I felt the same towards the Asians I met who lived there. And I’m not talking about Americans of Asian heritage but those born and raised in Asia who move there to live or work. They were so timid and introverted and didn’t socialise outside their comfort zones much, which was really odd for me to see.
Agreed most foreigners I meet are completely tacked! Drunk, whore mongering, ignorant, trouble making... Although there was a great scene of young professionals in Shanghai 10 years ago.
Thelondonbadger almost everyone in east Asia has a tiger mom. I used to study till 11 every night starting in middle school. It didn’t make me or my friends socially awkward. I think there is a certain type of person who feels compelled to move to a different country that is culturally foreign and try to work their way up. I have always wondered why.. I mean, I’ve lived in different parts of the world for few years at a time but never felt compelled to settle permanently and give up my citizenship. I wonder if there are any studies looking at the common values these people share that compelled them to up and move and that could maybe explain their inhibition and awkwardness.
Both of those suckers couldn't find a decent job back home, no degree and no social status. Why did it cross his mind now to talk about that? Is it because he made a fortune out of China and now he's ready to be a white knight?
Adam Karim And you’re coming across as just another POC with an inferiority complex, what’s wrong with whites making money in China?. You don’t know if those guys have degrees or not, everyone & his dog has a degree these days, in the U.K. the last Labour government had a no child left behind policy & dumbed the Uni entrance qualification levels right down, and every thicko gets a degree as they cheat.
@@thischanelnolongerexists9041 not salty, but I guess he is telling the truth. Serpentza and the skinny dude still make money off of youtube talking about China. Still kudos to them.
Ex-Navy here; I saw this all too often, when we would go into a foreign port there was always the same sailors causing problems, getting arrested and treating the place we were in with massive disrespect. A lot of them relish their notoriety, wearing it like a badge of honour.
When I was in the Navy and went to a new port, my habit was to go to the local Hilton or Sheraton and sign up for a tour. There, I'd learn about the cool stuff I wanted to see more of. Most of the guys in my division would go to the red light district to drink and whore around. They'd come back with no money and sometimes a "gift" from the girls. I'd come back with photos and some cool memories. I hated the sailors who would treat all the women like bar girls. I think it's those same type of guys that go to Thailand or Vietnam to be with girls 30-40 years younger than them. Losers.
I would also define a loser as somebody who sits in an office for 40 years and never gets to experience life. A group of guys ripping around on motorcycles is considered living a wonderful life experience. Stay Awesome.
Could be personality, some people are just not curious and don't like new experiences so never travel anywhere too exotic. I wouldn't call them losers just too comfortable or security concious people
This is honestly one of the most interesting conversations I think I've ever heard. You guys prove that humans can interact with one another without any interference from the 'ego' (or whatever that bloody thing is called). Thank you so much for uploading it!

Any male ESL teacher will tell you. Booze, women and money are like water here. Binge drinking is not just socially acceptable, its about "drinking integrity " and character. It's a dangerous land for those of weak will.
I worked in the same office as a guy who had what seemed to be a pretty healthy attitude towards prostitution (it was legal in the state and country I was in at the time); he was a workaholic that knew where he wanted to go in life, didn't have the time to devote to a relationship, and knew he could get exactly what he wanted without any strings attached.
As a Chinese, I want to thank you for making videos about China; so far, I have watched nearly all of your videos. Your videos make me love my country more because they reveal its real problems and flaws; as a result, I can get a more comprehensive view of China. They also make me appreciate my parents more because they help me understand my parents' struggles and challenges. Thank you for contributing your unique view; keep up your great work! :)
Really interesting viewpoints... pretty well balanced and good job on putting it together... I wouldn’t know where to start with editing a vid like this. And of course great to see Prozzie!
"At the end of the day, all men are interested in is sex and booze." -Winston Complete and utter bullshit with zero depth, context or perspective. Men have always, until the social engineering of recent decades (thanks, Frankfurt School) kicked in, derived the greatest fulfillment not from sex and booze, but from creating things, starting with families and branching out to the tribe, the community, and on to organizations and institutions. At any rate, I presume Winston was painting himself with that brush.
I never really encountered that. I was in my early 20s when I lived in China. I cared a lot about what locals thought about me. I found myself starting to adapt to their lifestyle, food and language. I even had Chinese friends. I hung out with Chinese friends more than foreigners and found the Chinese to be more fun. I was part of a group of teachers at my schools that would get together along with some of our students (they were also in their 20s) to have BBQs and fun get togethers. Very relaxed. That was in Shenzhen which still remains a young vibrant city. There were times where I'd feel alone and just hang out in my apartment too much but I balanced that with getting around. I'd even jump on the metro lines and go out to areas I'd never seen before just to explore and people watch. It was a fun experience. I never met any bad foreigners or so-called losers. But as I've said before, I preferred my own company or that of Chinese over the seasoned foreigners who were sometimes a bit negative in their outlook. Perhaps China is freeing. But I was very wary of everything. The worst thing I did? A mate and I went walking around the streets one evening after enjoying a couple of beers and great food at a restaurant and we bought a beer from the 7-11 each to drink in the KFC until they kicked us out. We didn't even want to be seen walking the street with a beer in hand although such behaviour is technically not illegal in China. I was genuinely afraid of running into bad types so I avoided certain night clubs etc (they were never my scene anyway). China did change me for the better. I became more outgoing and adaptable. A more open mind and only a bit of reverse culture shock affected me in the workplace back home where I was paranoid about losing my job. Because the local English teaching centres in China have a habit of exploiting foreigners and firing them before the 3 months probation is up to avoid paying the work Visa (or they didn't have the correct licence to run). So there was no job security and this affected how I adapted to work back home.
Walking around drunk and falling about because you aren't being held up to a higher standard.......sounds great until you come across a Brit and realise that's modus operandi every Friday and Saturday night regardless of location!
As someone who spends a lot of time in central Europe I've seen far too many drunk Brits. The day of the week doesn't seem to matter. They just like getting plastered it seems. I've tried alcohol but it has been years since I've had it and I don't see that pattern changing anytime soon.
I get the feeling most people "abroad" think americans as scumbags. I'm finnish and just recently while visiting Iceland I met a local there who pointed at a foreigner being loud and misbehaving and he said that guy must be 'murican! It's kinda sad really because most Americans I have met have been great people but I think it has more to do with the whole international politics and US being the world police everywhere
That thumbnail does not fit. Because the title refers to losers and a fat guy isn't a loser. Then again, a slim guy isn't a loser too. However I strongly believe, adn this is my opinion and nobody has to agree with it, that SerpentZA chose this fat guy to be on the thumbnail because this is how Chinese guys view us the western guys. Chinese people tend to be slimmer than the people living in the West so this thumbnail portrays the view of the Chinese people that the fat Westerners (fatter than us) are all losers (because they don't like them so whatever good thing the Westerners do in China, people there won't appriciate it). That's my general understanding before watching the video. And I know I am doing wrong by posting this comment without FIRST watch the whole video. Because watching the video, reading the description and knowing ADVChina and SerpentZA, all of that will be some help to understand why they used this specific image as a thumbnail. They are serious people and most of the times i have to say their thumbnails are accurate. I will watch the video and after that maybe I will have to recondsider my opinion about the thumbnail or not...
Aussies going to Bali on holiday is a pretty good example of debauchery, they're mostly in their late teens to early 20's and there to party. Cheap booze, Mushroom smoothies and balloons of whippets being sold freely on the streets, combine it with local corruption and everyone willing to let foreigners do what they want as long as they have cash it never ends well.
Not just them. I couldn't sleep on Bali since drunk British guys and girls were very loud during the whole night slapping doors, laughing and talking. Not to mention plastic trash they leave. A lot of young boys fresh out of high school join the army because they have no opportunities in their hometown, some because they had a bad home life and were, as Prozzie so well expressed it "socially mishandled in their upbringing". You see these young men going wild in the army, rebelling and drinking too much, getting away with what they can in their new environment, becaue 'nobody knows who you are and nothing holds you to a moral standard'. Excellent observation, Prozzie. In Vietnam there is a longstanding tradition of low-level government officials frequenting prostitutes.
I was a young boy fresh out of high school going to the army for there was no opportunity in my hometown and family wasn't one of values and sincerity. I worked so hard for many years for nothing trying to simply show I was a good person worthy of a solid career to see me into old age. However, I never frequented prostitutes even though that was directly threw in my face so many times. There are lots of zombies, prostitutes, poverty, homelessness, and drugs all over this evil hard world. A boy needs to be taught not to be nice nor show they're good, but taught how to compete in this dirty scumbags world.

Excellent program. Quite a lot of truth in what you discussed. Wish you would talk about the diplomatic personnel and the expat businessmen. I lived in an Asian country for 10 years working for a foreign government and the two groups I have mentioned were quite notorious for their elitist attitudes towards everyone! They thought they were better than their fellow expats and of course better than the locals! I was often embarrassed by their behavior and tried to avoid them! Thanks for an informative vlog and as always, take care and Happy Travels!
Somerset Maugham had already written about it in his SEAsia essays decades ago. Attitude from these two groups of people hasn’t changed much . These 3 vloggers don’t belong to business expats and diplomatic personnel circle. They never have and never will, being ESL teaching or backpacking origin. Social pecking order is the same regardless which country Westerners move to. A ranch hand on a foreign worker visa doesn’t get invited to an embassy cocktail party.
@@33Jenesis sounds a bit pretentious, you realise there are actual ESOL teachers who have better opportunities teaching a language over there then in their home country. They wouldn't even want to socialize with these egotistical beurocrats who landed a job through nepotism.
Not only but also. I was a loser in my country home because western women didn't attract me, and still, don't. Nevertheless, I had a stable job which paid my house, car, and money... just could not have a family, which I found later 12000kms from my "home". Now, away from my home I am not a loser because I have a family who I love a lot. Money is not a problem. The world have a lot of money, but very few persons to love. Being a loser or not...? I answer that with a question... how much are you happy?
Western countries have become very hard to get a family in because of the high cost of education, health, and especially housing. A house used to cost just 2.5 years of salary, now they cost 15 years of salary. This is because the baby-boomers wanted their house prices to keep going up and so they built lots of rules and regulations to make sure new houses couldn't be built screwing up their next generation. Its all about kicking the ladder. We Westerners took the land of the indigenous peoples, then the many of us created rules and regulations making sure that no one else could ever improve their situation.
I knew a guy who was a bit of a waster in the UK, spent everything he had on beer. He went to Asia as he didn't have anything to lose and had messed up quite a bit at home. He now owns a gym and teaches english, it was really the making of him.
So funny. Guys, there are people who go to China on international business projects. Folks based out of their home country but are traveling or living in China for work temporarily. These jobs are very good because you continue to earn salaries same as back home plus per diem. Walk around Shanghai and Shenzhen business districts and you will see us (some projects can bring over hundreds of people). We go home to families or attend Chinese language school in the evenings so you won’t find us in bars. Then we explore and travel China on weekends. There are a lot more of us than you think.

While from the USA and working in South Korea, I was amazed that heavy drinking at bars was mandatory with the boss and co-workers a few times a week after work.
Prostitution isn't just for scumbags who can't get a girlfriend, some of us just don't want the hassle of dealing with women. We aren't paying for the sex, we're paying them to leave with no strings attached.

what’s wrong with prostitution(granted they use protection)? i mean not every man was fortunate enough to have been born with the ability to attract females
What's wrong with it? From a woman's perspective, it's a horrible thing! These young women are mistreated and most likely, doomed to a life of STDs, including Aids, and/or drug addiction. It's certainly not a life of respect and dignity - having to put up with any man who wants to paw your body for a few dollars (or yuan). It shows no respect for women. Think of how you'd feel if your mother or sister....or wife were prostitutes. I don't imagine you'd be taking out a full-page ad bragging about what they did to survive. And what happens to them when they are sick or get older? It's simply awful.
Moving to any country will change you, even between western English speaking countries. There are new opportunities, new experiences, new people. You may even pick up a new accent. I know after being away from the UK for 15 years I felt like a stranger. What I considered normal was completely different to how things are in the UK. Relatives I hadn’t spoken to for a long time had trouble understanding my accent. The other interesting thing is as I moved from the UK people assumed everything was the same and that I would just know how things are, the different terminology and so on. Friends from other countries would get lots of help, while I would have to try to explain what I wanted to do, and if I accidentally used English slang we were all confused! It can also be difficult to move back. Often foreign experience is looked down on and local experience is preferred. What I didn’t expect when temporarily moving back to another country is that the things I learned were more advanced. Employers were looking for skills I hadn’t used in years and which frankly I considered obsolete. Still, it’s a great experience moving to another country and if you want to do it with the sun of building a life and career then it requires some risk taking. I came within a few weeks of running out of money because I had a goal, but chose to take a risk and things worked out in the end. If I can do it then many others can too, I certainly don’t consider myself special, perhaps a bit reckless due to not playing it safe.

Winston said he was homeless, ran out of money, so I'd say in his case definitely true. Good for him that he hustled and was at the right time at the right place with the right mindset.
Well, that was more to do with being young than being a loser though. He did figure out how to survive and prosper though, he probably would have done that as well iv he had stayed in South Africa as well.
When I first came to China I was incredibly shy. I chose to do it because of a suggestion from a friend. I'm still pretty shy but I have friends and relationships here. I don't go out all the time and I save up my money. The experience here has let me open up a little more but I'm still very shy compared to the average people. I don't know how I get up and talk to students every day, but i guess that's less stressful than talking to a group of adults.
For me it's quite the opposite, when I go somewhere as a foreigner I'm on my best behavior because I consider myself as a representative of my country. Going to Japan I felt embarrassed when making social norm mistakes

I don't quite understand what your definition of loser is. like, a party hard guy isn't really a loser as much as he's maybe a douche. Loser usually means not employed, not educated, not training. It seems like it requires a good bit of agency to get over there to live for a while.
I knew so many English teachers in Japan who fit the description here. Some folks just end up adopting stagnant lifestyles and become depressed sinking into the rampant drinking culture. Their health goes down the tubes as well.

I have better, stronger morals now. This is a very good vid. tks, guys.
Spot on, as usual. That is why it is extremely important for any Westerner--when going to China for an extended period of time--to have very definite objectives and to constantly review what you are doing there and be ready to go home as soon as the objectives are met.
I wouldn't quite use the word loser, as it sounds too judgemental, and I would say that this situation is hardly unique to China, but foreigners in many places often seem to be social misfits or people with a lack of respect for the host country or community, or they lose all sense of decorum and self-restraint. I also find that expats form little communities and cliques when overseas in a way that we might not do in our own home countries, so we get to know each other in a way we might not back home, where we are surrounded by other white people and thus just go on with our own lives. The more time I spent with other foreigners in China, the more I liked some and disliked others. It's like a little microcosm, a concentrated micro environment. I hear it is worse in Arabian countries, where foreigners stay in the repressive and anti-westerner society far too long because of the money, and then thus go nuts.
"Anti-westerner" society describes China today and NOT Gulf Arab countries. I have lived in both. Gulf Arab countries are WAAAAY more western friendly.
I don't know if this has been coined before, but I'd call what you are describing as the "Kurtz" (heart of darkness) effect. However, when I lived in China I encountered a lot of expats and only a small number were people I'd describe as losers, a smaller fraction than the people I've met back home. Most of the expats I met were fairly talented, intelligent, and socially adept. A lot of them were recent college graduates who just wanted to a little bit of an adventurous experience in another country before going home to whatever grind was waiting for them back home. I loved teaching English, I really felt it rewarding and challenging. I hated how other expats would say "English teacher" soo derisively.
Absolutely love the incredible Insights shared by SerpentZA and C-Milk! Liking the music-intro "I am Missing You" which sets a exciting-experience in absorbing ADV video. Sending All the Best from Honolulu, Hawaii...…."Keep On Keeping On"!
I lived in Shenzhen in 2001-2003, I felt like the only forginer in town, except for the few businessmen that came in from HK. It was liberating, and I hated meeting forginers. I wanted what the antropologitsts calls "go native".
I actually found meeting other foreigners refreshing. I never wanted to go native because I knew I would never be accepted as anything but a foreigner anyway.
In my experiences in China, I have met some great foreigners, and of course I met some really terrible ones. The one thing I will say though is, even though the "loser" ones may go to China or wherever, they at least have the BALLS to pack up and go to another country where they have no family, no initial friends, and more often than not, no knowledge of the language. These people can say they really travelled because they actually lived in the country, ate the food, and mingled with the locals. A lot of people in America, tend to stay in the city they grew up in, with the same old high school friends, and having a job within that city. Those same people will always vent that they want to travel to different countries or speak different languages, but won't nut up and go do it like the "loser" foreigners have done. And the ironic thing is, if that "loser" foreigner obtains a spouse from the country they travelled in, they are seen as, "Oh this person can't get anyone from their own country." I dunno, if a guy knows there are 50 girls over on this side for every 10 guy, but on that side there are 10 girls for every 50 guys, what idiot would want to play on that side?
main three groups i run into (which obviously can break down into subcategories on the level of how much they drink and how much they actually want to be here, etc).: 1. Language students +teachers 2. People actually trying to make something for themselves/own business/grad school etc. 3. social outcasts.
@@edamamebiru3960 To be honest, I don't know what kind of people he was doing business with, because I've never been in this situation here. Of course, I also don't give a shit about social norms of sharing cigarettes or swilling baijiu, so that probably tipped people off.

Bonus Easter Eggs you may also find at the sandbox restaurant/bar:
1) the one really hot waitress/bartender/dancer girl that you know all the dudes in the place are trying to talk to.
Some died.
Thelondonbadger also I’m not talking about the offspring but the immigrants themselves.

"At the end of the day, all men are interested in is sex and booze." -Winston
Complete and utter bullshit with zero depth, context or perspective.

I love your story. Thanks for sharing.

There are a lot more of us than you think.
ahh!!! thats why i cant find a decent smart white dude here!.... they r either taken or busy improving themselves ;_; ,,,, im a below average chinese girl and i'll never have the chance to be with a tall white intelligent dude and my white fever could never be cured... ;_-
And you all left forever (like me) due to covid restrictions
So good. Opened my eyes. I've lived 25 years in Mexico, now back in Holland, but all this hadn't been that obvious to me. Keep up the great work and don't get stuck in China please
The Philippines expat community has some real characters 😀
@MBTravel72 preach....! It's rather entertaining though.
@@GypsyJWalk Most definitely 😅
@@Notchmods they're also interested in interesting looking 'women'.
16:50 Basically the stereotype of any White man in the Kingdom of Thailand 🇹🇭, also the stereotype of any Thai woman in the Western World, so it evens out.
Honestly your perception also depends on which area you're in, and who you associate with when your there. Plenty of losers from every nation, it's just easy to see them when they already don't look like the locals.
黑龍 - Hắc Long plenty of descent Guys and good Thai girls in Thailand, been here 4 years
Me asking the same question about America while *watching a small asian man shaving his chest in a public bathroom.
Or that land whale woman, in Miami, shaving her legs in a public pool...
An Asian man with chest hair? Surely that's like seeing an Asian woman with blonde hair.
@@RiverDanube That didnt help with my confusion either.
I saw a man washing his clothes in a shopping mall public toilet in Xi'an.
We don't have chest hair
Glad to hear "I remember You" back on the lead! You changer it up for awhile.
Winston, you mentioned how you had a lot of personal growth in China. You also mentioned that China is an easy place to save money.
I would like to hear more about this
You guys give me such good vibes driving down the road and talking such sense. It feels like your experience in China and travelling around the world really changed you.
Lived and worked in Colombia for 6 months in 2017, definitely one of those countries that can make or break you. I was sharing an apartment with a British and a German guy that had been living in Colombia for over 5 years and they had tons of stories about guys not handling it all that well and it was always either woman or drugs (Alcohol not particularly cheap). Thanks for the videos, waiting for my visa to come through and start a teaching position in Xi'an in September so I've been watching the ADV, Laowhy86 and serpentza channel to death.......

*_Prostitution should be banned worldwide. In America their almost a protected class. I noticed this when i moved over in 99. In my country it's not common unless your into a wretched drug addict [it's a sad situation] but ye wont find these legal brothels_*
Really happy you like Palomar Mountain! San Diego's my hometown!
Thought that little guy with the aviators was Tom Cruise for a second. Then saw the bike and realised it was Prozzie. Close enough.
what’s wrong with prostitution(granted they use protection)? i mean not every man was fortunate enough to have been born with the ability to attract females
It's Finnick Bitch!! Sometimes, you’re not even paying for the sex, you’re paying for them to go away afterwards.
It is mainly an Anglophone stigma. Elsewhere it is not so looked down upon.
Margaret D that’s why it needs to be legalized and well regulated like in the Netherlands
Did you ever plan to compare post-communist Europe with China? Eastern Germany> Czech Republic> Hungary> Slovakia> Poland> Lithuania> Latvia> Estonia> Russia> Belarus> Ukraine> Moldova> Romania> Bulgaria> Northern Macedonia> Kosovo> Serbia> Bosnia and Herzegovina> Croatia> Slovenia> Georgia> Armeia> Azerbaijan
Wow! Nine years in Taiwan and I have never heard the expression “LBH”. I think there are a portion of us that actually feel more comfortable in a Chinese society than in a Western one. I certainly suffered from reverse culture shock and still do to this day. My return trips to Taiwan have been nothing but a pleasure. I am immediately more comfortable.
dora wang - did your parents drop you as a child? How did you turn out so fucked up?
Dam that thumbnail of c-milk
Damn, I have been waiting for show like this for so long! Trio gig! High praise!
7:28 "hi I'm the CEO of the special forces"
this might actually be the most important video you've made on this channel. As someone that been in China for 6 months. I've seen them shit thats changed me forever.
Don't go to Thailand then haha
Many more losers there :(
Actually many of the losers in Thailand could not survive in China.
Seen this amongst Brits in Germany too. Once the family is far away ............. Nice, fun video too - thanks!
liverpoollad as mean it sounds thank god these countries take our riff raff and trash
Loved having prozzie ft. on this one!
Everything you’re describing sounds awesome. I’m seeing China in a whole new light.
twisted whole
When I first came to China I was incredibly shy. I chose to do it because of a suggestion from a friend. I'm still pretty shy but I have friends and relationships here. I don't go out all the time and I save up my money. The experience here has let me open up a little more but I'm still very shy compared to the average people. I don't know how I get up and talk to students every day, but i guess that's less stressful than talking to a group of adults.
Wow first time seeing an ADV China in America!!!
For me it's quite the opposite, when I go somewhere as a foreigner I'm on my best behavior because I consider myself as a representative of my country. Going to Japan I felt embarrassed when making social norm mistakes
LOL...when I spied the opening scenes, I said "...wow, I did not know China looked like the San Gabriel's. 5555..." Then I spied your opening credits. Good subject matter, thoughtfully discoursed and explained. Living in Thailand for 6 months each year, one gets a reputation, fast. Easy to keep your nose clean. I describe drinking in Thailand as "alcoholism?'" No way---it is "alcohol poisoning." A stunning volume of alcohol is quaffed. Not a pleasant sight. I don't drink, so I just steer clear of the bar scene. There is plenty of danger in all of Asia, but you treat all people decently, smile and do good acts---don't worry, the Chinese, kon Thai, Viets--all know your soul. Asia is a very heart-oriented place where Family is King. In India, you have "Mother India."
At my hotel, I always buy the best watermelons and chill them to give away as gifts to the elderly Thai ladies that live at same hotel year round. It is their home They get a kick out of falang good heart.
You guys pick great topics to cover, wtg! If I think of topic matter that needs addressing, I will write again.
Love all your episodes and your audio and editing quality is off the charts! I gave editing a go many years ago and knew it just wasn't me. Editing represents a huge learning curve!
I hope you guys continue your explorations. A must-see are all the Navajo Parks in the SouthWest that many skip over: Monument Valley located at the Four Corners region and Canyon de Chelly (pronounced "shay.") Many movies shot on location at these parks. The Navajo Parks are a well run system. From Gallup, New Mexico, head due north to Chinle, Arizona. At the Arizona/New Mexico border for Canyon de Chelly. Google it. Please, head to AAA in LA and ask for 5-10 "Indian Country" Maps. This is the Michelin Map of the great Southwest. Check out northern New Mexico as well, God's country. Primo riding from May until mid October.
Keep it simple and fun. Cherish your families. You guys are hardworking and very lucky.
for me it's only a small percentage of johnny foreigners that 'fuck up' in china, most all of the foreigners i know and have met have adapted and contributed, be it in business, engineering, soccer coaching even learning to cook authentic chinese style, all depends on your level of maturity.
rumour has it li ping wears an adv china tee shirt....lol.
Jeez, should have just named it "let's talk about prozzie." JK JK
I don't quite understand what your definition of loser is. like, a party hard guy isn't really a loser as much as he's maybe a douche. Loser usually means not employed, not educated, not training. It seems like it requires a good bit of agency to get over there to live for a while.
Omg you started in Pauma Valley my hometown!!
I’m flipping out!!
Super cool.
So awesome.
Beautiful country, I grew up in Southern Calif. Love the Channel. I admire you for your honesty and wisdom.
Outrageous title of your video which I will still watch! Finland ,Denmark and Sweden should attract fine people like you!
I knew so many English teachers in Japan who fit the description here. Some folks just end up adopting stagnant lifestyles and become depressed sinking into the rampant drinking culture. Their health goes down the tubes as well.
Its good to see you guys on full size bikes !
Prozzie is on ADV China?! Amazing! I watch all of your channels. Keep up the great work and terrific content!!!
I never realized how high Prozzie's voice is. y'all are the 3 tenors
2:45 - We'll just start again with Prozzi, because he's the new guy on the team here...f-for this little trip here!
Nice catch, winston! Wouldn't want that loser thinking he's a part of the crew! (joking)
And how about the reverse in my case? I was a regular, pleasant, successful guy in the u.s.a. I moved to Asia (Taiwan) many years ago, there are all of the temptations that you mentioned here, I did some self-reflection/self-correction, and Asia made me be a better person.
I'd really like to see an quick informal review of the motorcycles you're riding incorporated into your vlog. I enjoy your content, fellas.
@@tperk Well I had a Chinese girlfriend at the time, and was very much included in her family.
@dora wang Says the Wumao that comes from a country that has over 30 million more single men,. ;)
This is one of the better and more satisfying three-ways I've watched on the internet
main three groups i run into (which obviously can break down into subcategories on the level of how much they drink and how much they actually want to be here, etc).: 1. Language students +teachers 2. People actually trying to make something for themselves/own business/grad school etc. 3. social outcasts.
bingo
12:38 Are you speaking from experience? Cuz' i wasn't expecting to hear those words from you tho.
Of course. I can't believe they never went to see a hooker. Impossible.
@@edamamebiru3960 To be honest, I don't know what kind of people he was doing business with, because I've never been in this situation here. Of course, I also don't give a shit about social norms of sharing cigarettes or swilling baijiu, so that probably tipped people off.
Let's cut it short: Yes. And you two are conclusive proof.
Yep it does, that's why you guys are there.
Both of those suckers couldn't find a decent job back home, no degree and no social status. Why did it cross his mind now to talk about that? Is it because he made a fortune out of China and now he's ready to be a white knight?
