I hope everyone understands that he is using hand tools to show that anyone can do their own repairs at home without having power tools. Great video, great detail, thank you so much! I am doing a complete front-end repair on both sides with everything new and this video is the bomb! Thank you again!
yep...i'll be doing this myself next week with your parts. our mechanic (good/honest guy) wants $686 +tax for both sides. Local auto parts is $105-145 per cv shaft....yours are $145/pair. It's a no brainer. Thanks, I watch all your videos to do my own repairs when possible.
Video you just showed on changing the axle shafts I want to thank you for you guys spending your time to show as I want to be mechanics anyway I think you and it was a real good instructions
I dk why I love the breaker bar when someone breaks loose a tight torqued nut.. that sound too when he broke loose the axel nut but like the 32mm nut so awesome
Lil tip for diy'ers. Get a floor jack to push the rotor back up to the strut mount. Also clean and regrease your caliper slide bolts, and lubricate all the rubber parts of your suspension as well, cause u may as well while youre in there.
Very great video. Concise, well done, and thorough. The only thing I didn't like was having to re-use the metal washer. Why can't the new axle shaft just come with it on there? Also if it were mine I would have absolutely wiped the rust off it at a minimum.
My boots are good and no grease leaking, but I’m getting a faint clicking from the left side as I coast around a right hand turn. The right just started the same thing. I’m also getting a wheel shake at various speeds, but have had the wheels balanced twice. Would replacing the axles fix this?
Just did this job and I just wanna say that if you dont have a 24mm a 15/16 works great for those spindle nuts, also for the lug nuts a 7/8 worked better the 22mm gets stuck on the chrome lug nuts
Do you if you can get it off by disconnecting just the lower ball joint & tie rod? I already changed the struts last year and I don't want to lose my alignment.
Great Video. Question? Im trying to diagnose why my traverse feels like it gets a bouncing/ up n down motion, only on the front right side on certain accelerations. If you let of the gas and re- accelerate it stops. It doesnt really do any whining or grinding? Any tips on where to begin to look?
Are there any major differences between the drivers side and passenger side cv axles? I watched both videos on your channel for this same car but on the drivers side.
Muchas muchas gracias saludos desde chile acá el repuesto para ese vehículo es muy escaso Gracias por el aporte solo me falta un detalle. Comprarme un elevador 😂😂
Why leave the caliper hanger installed, just take it off with the brake caliper, remove the rotor and you have much more room to work. Beyond that, very good video
+Felipe Gonzalez Pachecano The part in this video fits your application, and the install should be the same or similar. Buy this part on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

What are some known symptoms that will occur to know these need to be changed? I have a 2014 AWD that’s giving me a little shake from 2-3 gear. Any info is appreciated.
+DeVon Mckinney We currently do not have an auto repair video specific to your vehicle. You might be able to apply some of the basic steps shown in this video to your application. @@1AAuto perfect. I know since the struts were not touched they should technically be ok, but im glad you confirmed. Great video tutorial by the way. Its to the point and easy to follow. Definite thumbs up.
100Cofra i’m not 100% sure but you should probably be alright. i think that metal washer just prevents the axle from seizing up on the hub. and without it, it can make the next job a lot tougher getting it off
+Bimmer Boy Any repair manual should have those specs if they are needed. There are a lot of forums on the internet that have a lot of information regarding torque specs as well! 1aauto.com
+Richard Vaughn Thanks for watching! You can spray some penetrating oil and hit with a hammer with either the nut like he shows or a piece of wood to protect the threads.
+BARRICADE GARAGE Thanks for watching. The vehicle did have the ABS sensor. If you watch at 5:40 he removes the sensor and at 13:14 you can see the ABS sensor is being plugged back in. Please let us know if you have any further questions, thank you!

Omg I work on commission and this guy just makes me anxious , have u heard about air tools ? I mean u have a lift so I think would be a good investment and time saver to have an air compressor and air tools
why do you guys never use air tools? or battery powered tools? We all know it can be done with hand tools, here in Chicago we would not do most jobs without them.
Why is it that you guys don't use power tools to remove wheel studs and axle nuts??? Or do y'all use them 1st then go back to record with hand tools????
+Kelvin Lewis Sometimes we do. We try to keep our repairs as simple as possible keeping what the customer may have access to in their garage in mind. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com

One of the best repair videos I've seen. Straight to the point, easy to follow, and good angles.

Was there a seal in between the bearing and CV?
Thank you! This will be very helpful to me soon.
Is there a seal on the outside of that bearing?
Loved the video. Very good quality as well.
+Yes Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I think he forgot to use loctite 242 for vibration it looks pretty clear applied on the bolts thread
Great video! Thank you.
Haha. Sounded like he said “I’m gonna torque deez nuts”. 😂😂😂
Do You need to do a 4 Wheel Alignment after replacing Axle Assembly ????
+Victor Chico Andrade It's always good practice to get an alignment after installation of any axles or suspension parts.
If you separate the lower ball joint instead of the strut it will not mess up the alignment
Do you if you can get it off by disconnecting just the lower ball joint & tie rod? I already changed the struts last year and I don't want to lose my alignment.
+GRJ In MIA Thanks for watching! As long as you do not adjust any of the tie rods you should not lose the alignment.

I want to ask you a question the brake cleaner doesn't mess up the brakes when you're spraying that on while the brakes are on?
@Mr Hansen I think he meant if it ruins the finish on the wheel itself.
Why leave the caliper hanger installed, just take it off with the brake caliper, remove the rotor and you have much more room to work. Beyond that, very good video
Do you need a Wheel alignment after doing this repair?
+Angel F We do recommend an alignment after replacing any suspension parts. Thanks for watching.
Thank you.

I didn't removed the brakes i just removed the screw attack of the brakes lines only is came out also 👍 good video thanks
0:29 that tire looks a little low don't it lol ??
Is this the same process for a 2014 GMC terrain?

I was going to ask the same about a 2011 Terrain lol
What to do when the cv axle is frozes up in the hub. Been soaking it in pb blaster for 2 days. Cant budge the axle out of the hub.
What are some known symptoms that will occur to know these need to be changed? I have a 2014 AWD that’s giving me a little shake from 2-3 gear. Any info is appreciated.

Where is transmission fluid?
Do you have to re-align the vehicle afterwards? I'm pretty sure the answer is no but I'm hoping some more experienced mechanics can confirm this.
+Jay C You shouldn't need to realign the vehicle after this repair.

How do you know what torque to set for the tightening of the axel bolt or any other bolt?

In a perfect world...but what if you have a stuck spindle?
+Richard Vaughn Thanks for watching! You can spray some penetrating oil and hit with a hammer with either the nut like he shows or a piece of wood to protect the threads.
Love your video but why not a arms too
that vehichle didnt have abs?

The strut mount turned out of the way and i cant get it back in place to attach everything back what do i do?
Same as a 2015? Or? I can’t find a video for that year
+Moto Hunter These steps should be similar enough to complete this task:
You hammered the new Axle without putting the nut am i right?!
is the same on a 2011 chevy impla LT

Just stick a screw driver or such in the rotor between the caliper
Okay so will this be done the same way on a 2012 gmc terrain?

Why take the brake off?
Why not put new washers on the new parts
+BRIAN THOMPSON Thanks for checking us out! New washers are not necessary for the installation of this item.
I forgot to put mines on ooops
Ty
the seal is leaking, must be replaced
How far flush does it go back

why do you guys never use air tools? or battery powered tools? We all know it can be done with hand tools, here in Chicago we would not do most jobs without them.
