In the mid 70’s I took Elvis and his entourage to Bern’s Steakhouse after Lakeland concerts, retired Greyhound driver, Gus Evers, Happy Father’s Day!! Not sure, either 1975 or 1976!! Knowing J D Sumner and Joe Esposito sitting right behind me!! They had chartered a bus from Greyhound and I was the driver!!
Get ahold of Billy aka spa guy let me know I can get ahold of him for you he is a elvis historieon , and he would be proud , he loves adam the woo and you are doing good
That hotel looked nice. The chandelier and lounge I can see Elvis there. Thank you for sharing with us. The radio played Heartbreak Hotel song from Elvis. That was what a story to hear.
I’m a distant cousin of Hank Snow. He was my grandmother’s cousin. Never really hear his name much anymore. Pretty cool to hear you represent him in this.
Awesome and Amazing Video Jay Thank You. I Was Born In 1956 and was born and raised in Hinsdale Illinois and moved to the Tampa Bay Area in 1983 I'm An Elvis Presley Fan A Real Huge Fan
Hi Jay, I believe it was October 1970 my wife and I saw Elvis perforning live at Curtis Hixon Hall in Tampa. It was my wifes birthday present. I am 79 and my wife is 76 years old. We lived in Largo at the time and have lived in Inverness since 1974 - where Elvis filmed the court room scene for his movie Follow that Dream. Elvis's grandmother Minnie Mae was in the audiance for the Curtis Hixon concert. I wasn't much of a fan but after seening him perform live I was converted. We were in the cheap seats but brought binoculars. I was the nmost popular guy in the balcony. Thanks for the video. Love you and Chris. Harry & Mary
Thank you for sharing the places Elvis went to. The Diner I never knew about. Any history about Elvis live seeing and hearing about. A fan if Elvis for life. More than 65 years now. Long live Elvis!
Dude!! I used to live in Japan for 17 years and was noticing on that restaurant where Elvis ate sign that it said it had Hiroshima style okonomiyaki and soul food. Okonomiyaki is total Japan comfort / soul food. But Hiroshima style is so random and rare! Even in Tokyo it was hard to find that style of okonomiyaki! I hope you go back and eat that! My wife is Japanese and we have okonomiyaki quite a bit! My kids love it!
When I was a kid I meet Elvis in crystal river in the early 60 's he filmed in the Inverness court house while doing fallow that dream And stayed at port paradise in crystal river ,
I've lived in Tampa 60 years I know every place you've been so far. And when I seen that publix sign on the Britton plaza Tower I was one of the people who closed down the first Publix back in the late '80s I think it was. I came over from the Town & Country store and help get everything off the shelves stack everything yadda. I've ate many times that little diner that you're going to. Excellent video so far my man. I'm not an Elvis fan but Lord have mercy my mom Man I've watched her cry watching Elvis in concert on TV. When he passed away you could not console her. If I die before her I don't think she would cry is hard lol
Just watched the Elvis video. We were stationed at MacDill AFB 1987-93 and lived just off base for a couple years before moving into base housing. Watched many movies at the Britton Plaza Theater back then. Never heard the Elvis story until now.
Jay, I love the Video it was awesome, Thank you so much for sharing with us, I really enjoyed this Video about Elvis, Hugs n Love to you and Cris , Hope you have a very nice day you two
😎Great Video Jay! LOVE Elvis💙SOooo cool you ate in THE same booth😊The fact that the diner was Exactly the same as ALL those years ago is awesone!!! Originally from the diner capital, NJ...it's awesome to see one here!
Elvis was once in Dunellon FL, at Rainbow Springs State Park filming a movie. At some point he traveled 25 miles or so to the town of Inverness. He saw a movie atThe Valerie Theater. The Theater still stands, and that is their claim ro fame.
Hi Jay. Davis Island and Bayshore Blvd. 6th grade at Gorie Elementary. Ahh youth. Watching wrestling at the armory. Gasparilla parade and festivities. So much fun!Jose Lothario, Eddie and Mike Graham were wrestlers. Eddie and Mike were family.Saw Elvis in Lakeland just before he passed. Great even then
"Blue Suede Shoes" one of my favorite Elvis Pressley songs. Awesome video, my friend! Love, love Elvis history. ❤️ Thank you for visiting, researching, and making this video. 🤗🤗
Hey bro. I was fortunate to see Elvis in concert in 1976, the year before he died. One awesome concert. Back in the 50s before my mom and dad met, my dad told us he was with another girl seeing Elvis in Atlanta. Back then you could get up very close to the singers. Well as my dad told us the story, and my dad was not one to lie, he said the girl he was with, told him she wanted Elvis's shirt. So my dad reached over to him and grabbed it and pulled it off of him and gave it to her. I believe my dad but not sure as to the details of it, how it took place and such.
Loved this vlog Jay I'm sure Elvis would definitely went to that movie theater because he loved going to the movies he would rent out the memphian theater in Memphis many times. Thanks for taking the time to make this video Jay. Great job.
Hey I’m watching your Tampa on Elvis. The last concert at Curtis Hixon . He wore a black suit and he was overweight in 1975 and the one before he looked great. Jennifer and I met you and Chris in line to see Chevy Chase Also KFC sanders was in the parade during Gasparella . I am from south Tampa. And where Publix is at it was Food World a part of Publix back in the 1975.
Another awesome job Jay. I am also an Elvis too not just a Styx fan lol. Also, enjoyed getting to chat a bit with you and Chris last night. I don't think you saw my answer to your question my favorite Styx song.. Castle Walls or Suite madam blue. keep up the good work my friend. Lets talk some NWA one of these days.
I lived in the Floridan hotel in the mid 80's & used to go to Fort Homer Hesterly Armory in the 70's to see Dusty and the others toss each other around the ring
I was born and grew up in Sw Tampa. That theater was called Twin Bays in my day. Would walk the railroad tracks from Hyde Park on weekends to see movies there for a dollar.
really interesting--especially since I was a very impressionable 16 year old in 1956 and listened to his music all the time --also my Mom was a huge Hank Snow fan so you struck two chords today --thanks for the memories
My mom got to eat breakfast with Charlie pride on his private plane , also my friend is a elvis historian spa guy elvis , I know him as a friend and I know his family , he is 💯 % all elvis
Interesting video for Elvis fans and Tampa locals. A few corrections: Elvis stayed at the Floridan in 1955. By the mid 60s, the hotel was more for short-term rentals and apartments rather than a hotel, so Elvis would not have stayed there at any point in the 70s. The story of the haunted radio also c9mes from a woman who had a rented apartment there in 1977 (as told by the reisidents daughter in the book Haunted Tampa). By the late 70s, he would go town to town staying mostly in roadside motels rather than the large luxury hotels such as the Hilton during his Vegas residencies. I would also say he likely never went to the Britton Plaza. As you mentioned, the theater hadn't quite opened when Elvis performed in Tampa 1956. And his touring schedule was so grueling during 1956, I'd find it hard to imagine him catching a quick matinee. On Aug 4, he did 3 shows in Miami, drove straight to Tampa for an afternoon and night show on the 5th, 6 shows the following 2 days in Lakeland and St. Pete before leaving the immediate Tampa Bay area. without tangible evidence, i could only assume that's just one of those legends that has been passed down throughout the years 😊
I’m starstruck (if that’s the right word for this) that I’ve eaten in this diner (when it was Chop Chop Shop), not realizing Elvis had frequented it back in the day! 🤯
Kinda pretty hard to keep up with you but Im doing my best i guess cause im on my vacation-got lots of time on me !!!Keep checking out your abandoned places videos !!! You are awesome!!!
Incorrect. “That’s Alright” did come out beforehand but that was not on his first album “Elvis Presley”. “That’s alright was considered a single. Elvis didn’t create an entire album* (key word) until this one .. “Elvis Presley” until 1956.

It is reported that Elvis ate a hot dog at the Coney Island restaurant in Brooksville in 1961 while he was filming a movie in Inverness.
Follow That Dream , ate there myself!

I love you. Almost hoagie fest
Blue Suede Shoes was not his first song. It was "Thats alright"
Incorrect. “That’s Alright” did come out beforehand but that was not on his first album “Elvis Presley”. “That’s alright was considered a single. Elvis didn’t create an entire album* (key word) until this one .. “Elvis Presley” until 1956.
How long have you had your Tampa Bay Ray's hat Jay?

Yes ate there a few times myself!

Parker live above the humane society. Parker was a dog catcher at one time . He came into Tampa as a illegal ima grant .
Blue Suede SHOES WAS
NOT Elvis’ very first album.
How is it that you have a Maryland accent.
I don’t give a damn about Tom sa Parker.
Sorry not a fan i like some songs only
I live 2 blocks from the bank in Ocala where a young Tom Petty met Elvis. That's where he decided he wanted to be a rock star.
@billystalings
Thanks!
