I love this artist BEAUTIFUL VOICE FRIENDLY FACE SMART LYRICS STYLISH RICH PRODUCTION R&B disco is a genre by itself. The best maybe of the 70's. The disco genre was, classified by specific sound of the town: philadelphia sound munich sound LA sound (solar)...
What a song! What a voice! What a base line! The judicious use of horns and strings and glockenspiel and background vocals. Perfect production all around-chef’s kiss for Candi Staton!
Always Love this Song, but my 2nd Favourite song from her .. Disco Classic with a Message . CANDI STATON - "Young Hearts Run Free" ( My Favorite from her) .
🔥🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Candiiii always delivered!!! Still does. My Aunties jammed this HARD back in the day on grown-folks party nights. Us youngins would have to play in another room.😇
Candi was all over R&B radio and the clubs with this and also, "When You Wake Up Tomorrow" and "Young Hearts Run Free" in the mid to late 70s. She returned to her gospel music roots in the early 80s.
Most people don't realize this is actually a part II to her song "young hearts, run free". Thus the reason the chorus in this song goes "I became a victim, of the very song I sang". In this song she even says "I told y'all young hearts, run free...well I didn't listen to myself". Lol
Great reaction! The 70’s disco sound is the best that ever existed, imo. She’s great and great raspy inflection, she also did a fantastic cover of BG’s Nights on Broadway
Thanks JJ! Still one of my alltime favorite songs since I was a kid and my mom and aunts wore this song out! She was still performing before COVID and I saw her a couple years ago do a great show in ATL. She was married to Clarence Carter and I've been friends with their son Clarence Jr for a long time! She's been living in UK for years coming back to the US do shows. She is still looked at as soul royalty in UK!
I love candi Stanton I have old soul a lot of the songs I wasn’t even born but when I hear them I connect. Did you you react to young hearts run free by Candi Stanton
Young Hearts Run Free was a huge hit. 1975. This is the answer to her own song. Young Hearts was very popular in the new disco scene which began about 1974. Spreading very rapidly. This song was not nearly the hit as Young Hearts. But I like it better. Probably because I've heard Young Hearts a million times.
She sings only Gospel music now. I remember seeing her in the '80's on a Christian (TBN) show with the white gay adulterer Rev.Paul Crouch (his lover was Black). She still refuses to sing songs like this.

Mansion on a Newport Beach turned Disco, I met a stranger with most beautiful eyes, I never forgot those eyes or this Song.
Yo también conocí esta canción en una discoteca famosa de Buenos Aires 😊 una de mis preferidas de todos los tiempos
They were playing this in discos through the eighties and it was always a favorite, very fitting for the club scene.

Our “house” song….
She has more of a Blues sound voice. I like her voice and she had some big hits (can't recall them).
