I am so glad you added ssb to my little one pill. I really appreciate you helping me. I will never let anyone use my equipment. I wish I could have found how how my friend destroyed my amp. Then you helped get it straight, and added the SSB for me. I really appreciate your help Big Time. I am going to try and build an amp. I will need help on the keying part done, and try to remember how to add the SSB, which I really like talking on SSB.

Gatekeeper this is absolutely spectacularly awesome! I wish I had an amp to build and install one of these little keying circuits in like maybe a 1x4 base amp that runs on 110 ACV.

Hi. Nice videos. What is the purpose of the diode? I have a 2pill mrf455 amp with a built in pre amp. After a while on tx while talking on SSB the pre amp relay starts to chatter (if turned on). Wondering why and why it takes a short while to start happening. After watching this wondering if it has a cap to help hold the smaller relay closed while on tx.Didn't remember seeing one. I'll take another look.

I reckon the jumper on the relay could also go on the pins below it as well right since each side is connected when the relay is off? i just looked at an amp of mine and i noticed the jumper is not where you have it, but one row below

great job on a basic key circuit. many different transistors can be used. like 2n3904 2n4401. old Texas Star use PNP transistor. i copied a Palomar key circuit with 2 transistors. has + out when RF present being a tip 3055 can drive big relay to ground and bias supply . there is many keying circuits.
robert meyer indeed...the latest one I used with my ldmos build was very cool using an opto coupler...the internal darlington pair drove the relay...completely isolated from the Input RF Source :) I have to say that you are the most active commenter on my TH-cam videos and I want to thank you highly for that. Stay tuned in because here very very soon I'm going to be releasing all of the work I've done in the last year
Hi yes I have a optocoupler keying circuit a fit kit I ordered from our mutual friend n have it put together but been busy n haven't got it booked to the ldmos amp yet would love to see a video on hooking it up to an ldmos amp thanks for the great videos 43 gone. 73
What value transistor did you use on your transmit led ? I want to try that but it lights with just the radio also when I modulate. Want it to only light when I key the box.
not sure how you habe yours set up man but it is simple... use a 1k resistor put neg lead on neg of relay...pos led on pos switch on of main switch. You need to have it on a switch. then it will be transmit

Honestly its best to go to a bigger transitor...its ok to use this transistor for up to a 16 or 24. Its the relays coil that dictates this not the input of rf. You can look at the dataset of a 2n2222a to see how much amperage it can handle but just to be safe id use a bigger one

thefreese1 I use those nails to strip wires I promise I don't use them the drink anybody or anything like a vampire LOL upset quite a few people that I let my nails grow out a little bit cuz I'm always stripping wires like crazy it's just a habit I have always done since I was around 15 years old back doing the Mobile Audio scene but I guess if I had more expensive wire strippers I wouldn't need to do that huh but not keep my fingernails cut pretty good now since it offend so many people LOL

ok i bought a golden hooker $20.00 2 rf455 stud mounts. was told the 455s were out on closer look they cobbed up (on the rf input side) thinking this is the keying circut trashed thanks gonna try this to get it to work

Teach more about the inside of amps,I would like to know how they work more than I do which is not much.

What PF ceramic cap would key at a lower input wattage? Say 1/4 to 1/2 watt?

It isn't a zenor...It is a 1N4148 or you can use a 1n914....same diode pretty much
