Nothing sounds like the old Detroits. Hardly ever hear one anymore. A buddy had one in an old Jimmy (GMC). It was fun running it through the 13 speed with a load of grain behind.
I knew a father and son that both hauled grain, and I loved hearing them both pulling a load. The father had a CL9000 with a 3406 Cat. And the son had a Jimmy long nose with a 8V71. Both trucks had a wonderful voice!
We had a 78 Kenworth aerodyne cabover with the 430 Detroit with the blower on it with a 13 speed did great even with 45,000 pound's on it there's still a few of them old big trucks still out there I'm sorry large cars
I don't miss much about driving trucks as I was out there 31 years but I do miss driving 2 Stroke Detroit's. They were a blast for a 19 year old trucker to drive in 1980 but lots of drivers didn't like the roar. This one has straight pipes that would drive you nuts and put you to sleep after hours of this.
While these engines were on the road, driving was still fun. As they disappeared, so did the fun! When I retired five years ago, the industry was totally changed from the sixties and seventies. The job was harder back then, but it was far more fun.

Awesome truck!! A friend of mine back in grade school was a novice artist drawing picture after picture of these trucks (they were excellent drawings actually). Just saw him at the local truck stop buying fuel. Yes, his passion for trucks as a kid developed into his own trucking company as an adult with the last I heard was 8 trucks of his own. Super nice guy too! When you see a trucker on the road, please yield correctly (they need space) and also say hello or wave to them. They help keep our lives running in the right direction.
Hi hi I took a truck bed and struts and welded the box to the frame the DMV and cops had kittens. But that old cracker box did look cool . Tks fer good video about yours.
I absolutely love the old Screaming Two strokes! My FD has an 8v92ta DDEC 2 and a 6v92ta DDEC 2 and no mufflers 😂 I love rolling to calls with no muffler but it’s hard to talk to county when they can’t hear you

I love it it's a amazing ride my Kenworth changed my dream into 30year reality every time I sat in that suit I was a different person and it was an amazing experience you'll never know until you do it
The only thing that didn't make me happy about my 78 Kenworth was the electrical rat's nest in the dashboard when you popped it open I had nothing but a starting problem and I can or no one could figure out what was causing an electrical drain I replaced every electrical component on the engine and batteries and wires and switches and it still cause me problems sometimes I'd have to jump start it and other times it would just start up but that truck was amazing I never did me wrong and I treated it with love all the state all the time built the nice deck and stained it greased it I lived in at 19 hours a day it was my baby
I came across that video and started reading all your guys's comments and now I'm broken hearted that I ever gave it up I want it back but I'm not 19 no more lolo
And the last thing I have to say is everybody commenting on this video I never seen so many honest people about their stories in my life you're all right on cue about it everybody hold on to that memory it's a good one
