My favourite band and your dissection of the lyrics and sound was brilliant to watch and hear! This band has a message and I love how they are so open and brave in delivering it! Their talents could go in many different other directions but they've chosen to stay true, stay on track and walk the path they believe in! Good on them, excellent song!

I've been a huge Alter Bridge fan since the beginning, and I honestly feel like this is their best work ever (which is saying A LOT!)
This is even after I'd guess a couple hundred listens by now. Absolutely amazing!
I've listened to this song a dozen times now at least and every time the first chorus hits I get chill bumps all over my body. I mean literally get chill bumps. Alter Bridge is plugged in for sure and always have been really. Blackbird was really tuned into the troops and their families fighting in Iraq. Fortress was foretelling the collapse. The Last Hero was telling of a hero fighting against the establishment. Pawn & Kings will be the people standing up and fighting back. Every single one of these albums were released before the events unfolded, almost prophetic. It's crazy. I love these guys. Best damn band on the planet and so under-appreciated.

AB has been one of my favorites since their inception, and they're one of the few who have actually gotten so much better over time. This album has already been preordered and I can't wait for what it has in store.
I completely disagree with getting better over time..Their first 2 records were there best, imo. Then Fortress, and the rest were just ok.

AB 3 and Fortress are better than One Day Remains, which is good too (don’t get me wrong), but isn’t as cohesive and more a collection of rock radio ready singles. They definitely advanced and defined their sound starting with Blackbird. Fortress probably the pinnacle. But the Last Hero is really excellent too - chock full of bangers!

Old age, or my beliefs, will take me to the grave. I make less money than I could, have less "friends" than I could and don't measure up to society's standards in many categories but, I am proud of how I've treated people and that I've never traded my morals, beliefs and parent's teachings for personal gain. It's not hard if you live YOUR life, instead of living how you assume other people think you should. It's not easy at first. Many times, when I was younger it was straight up painful, but it made the rest of my life something I won't look back at and regret in my last days.
I’ve watched prob 8 reactions to this song and your the first to really dissect the message, it seems lost on everyone. Living in Canada under a basic dictatorship, this song has me feeling like I can run through a wall !!

Great reaction, I feel you're spot on with the analysis of the lyrics, I have seen some suggesting that the lyrics are political in the sense that the song is advocating for politic left vs left or vice versa which is the precise antithesis to the point being made (in my opinion.) The enemy are the powerful few who are making you fight their battles for them not the person across the aisle from you. Great messaging , Angry, Fired up but hopeful.
The best thing I did for my own sanity amd my own "consciousness" was to quit Twitter and most social media platforms. These platforms are all designed to breed hate and discord and yet within society , it is expected that you participate in all forms of social media to stay "up to date" and relevant. Removing it from my life hasn't made me feel isolated. On the contrary, I actually feel far less angry, I am more confident in trusting my own critical thinking skills and I see more nuance in everything. The best thing that we could collectively do for ourselves as a society is to remove ourselves from these platforms because they are currently being used as a weapon against us.

I know this comment is late but I just had to say what I believe this song is about. This song is talking about the powers in this world trying to destroy us, but the part I felt was missed was that he was talking about God's people fighting against the enemy's people. Those people are anyone who chooses to support the sins of this world knowingly and the people who choose not to accept Yeshua(Jesus) as their Lord and Savor. He's saying that when they come for us we will not cower, our courage, our faith, and love will be their demise. When he says to unsheathe the blade he means that our weapons with be God's word, and our armor will be his love. We will not resort to sin to win this battle. Cause if we do, we are just like them, and we can not call ourselves God's people(Just wanna say that I'm not saying were perfect!). In the video, the reactor said that we should not submit to anything. I don't believe that. The only thing we should submit to is God. He is in control of everything. We as God's people need to come together and spread love and light to others who are stumbling in darkness. Let them know they can be forgiven cause they are children of God and he's been waiting for them to come back to his table and feast with him. They will know the father through our love. Ty for reading this and God loves you even if you don't love him. ♥♥
