    Thanks for making this. All the other videos I found are basically just a Filson commercial and don't talk about how it actually performs in cold weather.

    1st off I want to say that your Channel is awesome. I live in SW Indiana, so I don’t get to see or experience what you do. I own this jacket as well, but it is in green. I bought mine in 1982, and still wear it every Winter. I bought mine, because as a kid I grew up with my father wearing one; his was solid red. I guess where I’m going with this is that they are expensive, but will last a lifetime.

      That’s awesome man. I got the Filson wool vest too and it goes good together. Thanks for watching!

    thx for the review. I use mine while fly fishing/hunting in winter, autumn and early spring here in Sweden with temperatures ranging from -15 degrees celsius and up til +10 degrees Celsius and the jacket has never failed me!

      Thanks for watching Jonas! What fish species do you fish for in Sweden? Over here in northern B.C we got a lot of rainbow trout, lake trout, pike and my favourite steelhead!

    The Mack Cruiser was my gateway into a whole bunch of other Filson's. It's a shame where the company is going, but get the US made stuff while it's around.

    You will be credited for inventing the grouse pocket. I had no idea that back pocket was so spacious.
    Greetings from Seattle! I just acquired a vintage Filson Double Mackinaw Cruiser. It has double layers of wool in the sleeves and shoulder (in the form of a cape). Super cozy.

    Nice review Brother. I'm looking at maybe getting one. It's good to hear it holds up in the cold and can handle hard work. Glad you showed the coat in action.

    Really nice review! Bravo!! I have seen a few and this was the most realistic one :) I got my jacket today, happy that the xs is suiting a light framed gal as me, and I will use it to walk the dog downtown and in the woods or the fields too. Same wind happens, some rain too, so it was a thought choice.
    The back pocket is super, I got a soft wool collar in quite the same color (charcoal) to match on and the collar and the hat both fit greatly in that backpocket.
    I am a cold suffering person, layering is my first way to combat shivering but walking the dog can make you warm, so the breathability of the wool seems to be a smart choice.

    Hey Elliot, Looks like a great jacket. They should give you one for the excellent review. Whereabouts are you up north? I know you are a ways inland, not sure where. I see your Bass in the background you are a man of many skills. Cheers from Vancouver Island.

      @@ElliottOutdoors Hey Elliot, I was just doing a bit of research about your neck of the woods way up there in behind the panhandle. What a beautiful and wild place....most people know nothing about the Stikine River valley.
      I also just read this awesome study about the Tahltan River Steelhead!
      I'd love to see you do some content featuring your traditional territory showing us the sights and telling us what they are!
      You've got the photography and editing down and you are a very articulate, knowledgeable and likeable character.
      People all over the internet want to engage in authentic cultural and natural experiences. I think your channel could be huge.
      Just wanted to pass that along. Are you on FB?

      @@allancrow134 Thanks Allan! That is a great idea I will do that this spring and do a video on all the amazing spots we have in the territory and talk more about the Tahltan culture! Add me on FB Allan and you can find me on instagram as well. The link is in the about section.

      @@ElliottOutdoorsHey Bro, I can't find your FB link, there is another 'Elliot Outdoors' from Maine, USA. You can find me on FB just search for Allan Crow in Sooke or Victoria BC. You'll know it's my page when you see the cover photo of my fishing vessel 'Raven', it's a well maintained 40 ft cedar plank salmon troller(built-in 1968). I've got some pretty good pictures of some big salmon and Hali on there you might like. When you have a minute send me a friend request. that would be really cool.

    I appreciate the review. You did a good job, thank you. I know you mentioned in the video that the wall can be irritating to your skin, And this is the biggest reason why I haven’t gotten this jacket yet. I like to wear T-shirts most of the time as I usually get hot, I would be worried that it would rub on my arms and skin, the exposed skin and irritate me or make me itch all the time. I know you said you can wear a long sleeve shirt etc. but I’m not a fan of those because I get hot. So let me ask, does it irritate your skin or make your skin very itchy? Or is it minimal?

    • @ElliottOutdoors
      @ElliottOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s minimal foley. The wool kind of breaks in after awhile and softens right up. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    I recently obtained one of these on Ebay. From what I've learned about deciphering label, I think it was made in 2012. But, the cuffs only have one button, not two like I expected. Any insight as to why?

    • @markn3586
      @markn3586 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it is a double Mackinaw Cruiser then the cuffs only have one button according to other reviews I have seen. If you look at the back of the jacket is there a cape that goes from shoulders to under the shoulder blades? That would be a double.

    • @cvisenti
      @cvisenti ปีที่แล้ว

      I called Filson & had them ship me a bunch of their buttons & just paid about $12 for a tailor to sow them on my double mac sleeves. The regular cruiser always has two buttons per sleeve to cinch it up tighter
