Queen could do anything! Like you said, people judge them by their hits. They are so much more than that. Thanks for giving them their chance! Thanks for the reactions. Yes, this is their best album IMO.
Queen II, Queen and A night at the opera just pip this one for me, though ALL early Queen albums are breathtaking in their bravery, scope and often sense of fun!
At this point of this album….. Everything is GOLD!!! The variety on this is unheard of by any other artist or band….. Also, in regards to later hits and album contents….. there is still a raw-ness, strip down final product approach.
Queen is for me the most fantastic band ever... It's incredible that this is the same band that did I Want To BreaK Free 10 years later... I love for them for this incredibly diversity and awsome creativity, they could do whatever they wanted, and do it incredibly well... Thanks 4 this journey!!!
Woo hoo! Queen are its own genre. If it was music, they could play it. If it had lyrics, Freddie could sing it. Truly a little bit of magic in the air.
There are times when Sir Brian May doesn't get a lot of props as a guitar player, sometimes he does. From their 1st album to their last his guitar work is primarily done with his hand built "Red Special" guitar. He gets a lot of the tone by using a sixpence coin, instead of a conventional pick, due to the fact it doesn't bend and has ridges around the edge.
Victims of their « hits success » most of people know Queen with only the few international hits 😅 This Band is very full of differents syles I swear ! 😄 You should try : « What a fool I’ve been » or « Soul Brother », but « White Queen » ... 😎 Oh and listen to the METALLICA version of Stone, they really made a great thing 🤗 🤘
Do you want to know how far ahead of their time this band was? Nixon resigned in August of 1974. This album was released that November. Saigon fell in April of 1975, marking the official end of the Vietnam War. Thrash metal in the Vietnam/Watergate era.
I wonder what it would take for radio stations to switch it up and play the lesser known giants from Queen albums instead of the gold standards. Would people who did not know Queen think it was a new release from a band they didn't know and would it get that kind of new first time air play? On the flip side, there is a Queen sound, even amidst their wide ranging song catalog - so once you dive in, you know it when you hear it.
GREAT live version of this by Queen at the Rainbow 1974! I still will always prefer the Queen version over Metallica but they did a good cover (and I think they used more instruments for their sound).
My Queen Greatest Hits (homemade mix tape) was this: Stone Cold Crazy March of Black Queen Death on Two Legs It’s Late Get Down Make Love Tie Your Mother Down In Love With My Car Brighton Rock Ogre Battle Prophet’ Song I don’t think popular radio would agree with me that these are the band’s greatest hits. But they are mine.
Good list! Over the years I've also made my own greatest hits on cassettes, now I do all that on Spotify, used to have many Queen albums on vinyl and later on CDs. Now having everything on my phone is great, connect to the Bluetooth in the car and rock out!
This album or the next one will probably end up being your favorite Queen album. A Night At The Opera is considered by many to be their best album, but I would put this album slightly ahead of it. I still consider Queen 2 my favorite album of theirs, but this one is a close 2nd for me. Fun fact, there is a title track for Sheer Heart Attack, but it did not appear until 1977 on their 6th album, News Of The World.
"Killer Queen," Indeed...Molten Rock that helped forge hard rock dna forever. Have to hear this during the roller coaster scene of "Encino Man." Brian May and Eddie Van Halen did a mini-LP called "Star Fleet Project".....80's (circa 1983) for sure, but sweet guitar interplay between these two icons.
Metallica were/are huge Queen fans. They covered it several times live, before recording it at the studio. There is even a heavier Queen version of this song avaible ... in my opinion even heavier than Metallica's version. It was made/miexed by Trend Rezor!
Thanks, Justin.. I know that "Metallica" covered it, but from what I heard, they totally could not keep up with the original (damn, Roger!. and Brian on guitar.. oh, okay, Freddie on vocals.. lol)
It's interesting that this doesn't sound like Queen to you. It's one of the first things I heard from them, I was always hoping for more of this style but we got the other stuff instead.
The first two albums sound wasn't to good, that was trident studio fault, Queen was great on those albums, but they were very unhappy with the sound. So on this album Queen took control and had it their way. Great album.
Roger has even gone on record and said he was never happy with the sound of the first 2 albums, he wishes they could go back and redo them, especially the drums, apparently he was never happy with the sound, but he also said that if they did go back and redo them, queen being queen, they'd probably go to far, I know that some of the recording produced by Roy, Brian has said for him the sound wasn't right, he felt they should have been playing much louder in the studio, and Roy said don't worry about it,we can turn it up in the mix, but for Brian his guitar needs the volume for it to come alive.
That's what gets on my nerves. They always. Compare Bo-Rhap. Original to cover. Clueless of any other comparisons they could make. Like this one, to the Metallica cover. Or Mustapha, to the cover, by Triad.
When they wanted to,they could be HEAVY.What a vocalist
A classic!
Queen could do anything! Like you said, people judge them by their hits. They are so much more than that. Thanks for giving them their chance! Thanks for the reactions. Yes, this is their best album IMO.
For me its impossible to seperate "Sheer Heart Attack", "A Night at The opera" and "A Day at The Races". Insanely good albums.
So true, many people think they just have poppy hits, my girlfriend was shocked when she heard rockers like this song, couldn't believe it was Queen
@@kvassrock Can't wait for 'The Prophet's Song' reaction lol
Queen II, Queen and A night at the opera just pip this one for me, though ALL early Queen albums are breathtaking in their bravery, scope and often sense of fun!
So far ahead of its time.....amazing true Classic album.
At this point of this album….. Everything is GOLD!!! The variety on this is unheard of by any other artist or band…..

Yes They Were Rock Stars …… but First Of All They Were Amazing Musicians ✌🏼👑💥✨💫
Queen is for me the most fantastic band ever... It's incredible that this is the same band that did I Want To BreaK Free 10 years later... I love for them for this incredibly diversity and awsome creativity, they could do whatever they wanted, and do it incredibly well... Thanks 4 this journey!!!
Stone Cold Crazy - by Queen
John Deacon: Bass
Brian May: Electric guitar
Freddie Mercury: Lead and backing vocals
Roger Taylor: Drums
Woo hoo! Queen are its own genre. If it was music, they could play it. If it had lyrics, Freddie could sing it. Truly a little bit of magic in the air.
What a lovely track..😊❤
Been a fan since 73. Saw them in 1981. The variety of the songs is exactly why I became a Queen fan.
Yeah! I remember playing this back in the late 70's in N. KY at places like the Round-Up Club. It was always funny to see drunks try and dance to it.
Also James Hetfield sang this song with Queen in Freddie's Tribute concert in 1992!
Love this song! My band covered two of Queen’s songs, this and "Dragon Attack" from 1980's 'The Game' (Another One Bites the Dust songs' album).
There are times when Sir Brian May doesn't get a lot of props as a guitar player, sometimes he does.

Awesome reaction! Can’t believe you haven’t heard this before. Had this as my ringtone for years glad you’re hearing it now.
Sticks u 2 the wall...❤😊
Freddie rapping❤
The deep tracks are as good as the hits! A musical smorgasbord. Keep rocking!❤
This tracks are so much better than their radio hits.
Listen to the live version from Houston 1977. It’s insanely fast. Clocks in at 1:56!
Best version ever
You got it! Queen is "Fricking Great"!
Great reactions mate😊
This perfectly highlights why this is such a favourite album of mine. Such epic variety but executed exceptionally well every time. Amazing
Yes. If you've only heard Greatest Hits, you haven't heard the greatest.
Good to see you smile, many more surprises Justin in the next albums…I think you will go one by one further…
I always loved this song. One of my favorites.
Of all unsung, unpretenscious albums, this might be the best ever made. Its just a gem after a gem, and it feels like they are not even trying !
ya, that descending line, "orgre battle fight"
I love this album because all the haters hate it. One of Queen's best!!
YEAH BABY!! ❤
Fuck Yeah !! 🧡
I love that you love these songs. You need to continue through all albums.
Thus album is in fact a home run!
Side 2 cuts quickly but does not 'medley' - how cool, a new verb. They used strobes during the muffled parts. What a fun song!
Yep...
I absolutely love the cover of this song from Metallica

You should also listen to the song " Sheer Heart Attack" from the album "News of the World", it's even faster
My Queen Greatest Hits (homemade mix tape) was this:
Stone Cold Crazy
March of Black Queen
Death on Two Legs
It’s Late
Get Down Make Love
Tie Your Mother Down
In Love With My Car
Brighton Rock
Ogre Battle
Prophet’ Song
I don’t think popular radio would agree with me that these are the band’s greatest hits. But they are mine.

Brian claims the same as you mentioned. People don't know their discography just their hits.
I am SO late in getting this album. My word.
Watch live at Houston 1977 that version is the faster ever ! ! !

🖖🖖🖖🖖👍
It had to be short or Roger's arms and legs would've fallen off. 😉😉🤣
This is too speedy for a 1974 song, few bands had the ideia to do it, imagine if Queen had made an entire album this way
The first two albums sound wasn't to good, that was trident studio fault, Queen was great on those albums, but they were very unhappy with the sound. So on this album Queen took control and had it their way. Great album.

Good cover, bad cover with Metallica's version!
