Awesome to finally see the Dreamcast Half Life port. Looks pretty solid despite the loading although I can see how the controls might be a pain. Great game either way. Not heard of the other one but it looks cool! All the best dude

I remember Gary selling these a few years ago so its good too see he is still making them for people. They do look great. You just need the Flintstones game now to complete the trio 😀 Half life was meant to be played with the mouse and keyboard and I think it would of been good. I was never great at playing shooters like that back in the day. I did manage quake fine on the pad but I couldn't play it today. Too spoilt nowadays lol. Like Jay, I preordered Half life too. I wae working in Currys electrical at the time and would check the delivery boxes for weeks waiting on it. I remember being gutted when dc mag said it was binned mere days before release.

Seems silly to not release a fully working game. It's good of you to mention that productions like these should be supported. There's still life left in independent game development as long as everyone respects the makers.
+The Highlander It is silly. Well, I wouldn't call this an independent developer as he just makes repros essentially, although I am a huge advocate of the Dreamcast indie scene.
Ended up getting the same copy of Half-Life from Gary that you have in this video. It looks fantastic but mine has a typo that I only noticed the 3rd time looking at it, which is a minor shame. Where it says "Death Squad" it says 'Death quad'. The overall work is top notch and it is a minor nitpick.

I suppose there's no way to reprogram your controller settings in this game? There's sort of a standard of using FPS games with a controller nowadays, isn't there?
+The Highlander Yes, you can actually reprogram the buttons, but as there is only one analogue stick on a Dreamcast pad you're stuck with very few options (none of which are any good).

Played Dreamcast Half Life and Blue Shift through to completion, it would of needed further optimisation for a commercial release, the constant loading pauses got on my nerves. The PlayStation 2 version wasn't much better, long loading times.

+gull payne Thanks! From what I can tell they're very similar, but the key difference is that the PS2 has two analogue sticks. The one-stick layout of the Dreamcast controller makes the control scheme horrible.

Ah I see. Only reason I like it is because it's a remix of one of my all-time favourite games (not a dubstep fan). I only use it very rarely so no harm done hopefully.

I think, Half Life should be played with keyboard and mouse. For propeller arena: It makes things easier, when flying in 3rd person sight.

It's amazing they got Half-Life to run on Dreamcast however the frame rate looks like 20fps. Not good.

Those reproductions look the part. I wonder if they also reproduced the PAL cases or if they re-purposed old PAL game-cases.

very cool video, I've been playing both of these on my Dreamcast, got quite far into Half Life, fun game, playing with pad/mouse combo, works well.

I assume Gary uses old stock. There are thousands of empty spare cases knocking about from when the Dreamcast was abruptly discontinued.
