- In this video, I show the process I would use to convert a C2C chart, or other graph chart, into an Overlay Mosaic crochet chart. Feel free to use my flower graph in the example I show, just give me credit for the design.
I have lots of Overlay Mosaic crochet square patterns on Ravelry & Etsy!

Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for explaining these details.
Love how you explain this, I was wondering if that was possible because I wanted to do something on my own and you just showed that there's no impossibles in mosaic possibilities 🥰😍💖 Thank you for this great video 😊
thanks, glad it made sense!! :)
This is so helpful, thank you!
You're so welcome!
I love this!
Im wondering if one could change this c2c chart to graphgahn? Would you happen to know how to do that?
You mean the example chart I'm showing in the video? You could totally just do sc's for each square on the "before" chart but it would be pretty small. OR if you just want something the same size as the c2c chart (any c2c chart, not just this one) you could do 4 sc's per square & 4 row per square to match the c2c size - it would still have that pixellated look but be in probably any easier form of crochet, in my opinion.. 😁
@BirdsongCrochet , I was just thinking that, lol! But wanted to know your say, as im not familiar with graphgahn charts. Im currently working on my first n my homemade chart lacks 'greatly'! Pulling my hair at this point. 😳
@@gaylescovel7308 I think graphgan charts are just pixellated images & you do sc's for each square but it can be a LOT of color switching. But I've seen some really cool projects out there done with that method.. Stitchfiddle is a good online app that can convert images to a graphgan chart if that's what you need. You might lose some detail though so you may need to tweak it a bit after the initial conversion. 👍
Thank you so much for this video. I just quickly want to know... Is it possible to turn a normal single crochet graph into overlay mosaic crochet?
I think it's totally possible but keep in mind that mosaic tends to take out some of the finer detail so it just depends on the design as far as how good it will look once converted to overlay mosaic. 😁
Thank you so much. Will have to give it a go and see if I can do it that way. Do you have a fb group or page?
❤️
@@sonjaburger2736 I do have an FB page & an IG page - if you go here, it has links to all my socials and of course my Ravelry & Etsy as well.. sites.google.com/view/cbirdcrochetdesigns/home
Thank you. 🌹
So, this pattern will become 75 lines tall?
yes, you got it!
How would this work for a regular SC graphghan??
The process to convert a C2C is a bit different than how you'd convert a regular sc graph, as you just use the same number of stitches & rows, but have to convert based on the mosaic rules.. Hard to explain here but there are lots of "how to overlay mosaic" videos that might help.
For example I have a chart that I made on my own. 62 going left to right would I triple that or still do 62 then second chain from hook do 3 in each. I don't have excel that is why I am asking
I think if you were to draw it out on graph paper, then yes, just draw in 3 stitches for every C2C square - 3 stitches & 3 rows tall so it's consisting of 9 squares to equare one C2C square, if that makes sense.
Cyndi, what program are you using please?
For this one I was using Excel.
Do you by chance have a program to do mosaic patterns that will work on other programs besides excel. One day I got excel on the web but could not bring your sample to it
not really, I only use Excel but don't know what other programs can created graph charts like that..
I have never done mosaic and I want too. I can do sc, wide single crochet stitch dc, and tc. I design my own graphs. But I just can't understand how to turn that into a mosaic pattern. Do I just copy my graph into mosaic would it be the same size. Idk why I can't understand. I'm trying to do my daughter one of my mother in laws face and shoulders it takes forever in sc stitches and thing it looks more clean in mosaic. Is there a site wjere I can send my design in and pay to have someone convert my designs?
I can try to help you understand if you want to send me your design - I think what throws people is how you have to do the fldc's 2 rows down, and how the rows switch between the A color & B color every other row as well. I've seen other videos on the general rules how to create overlay mosaic charts, and I have an Excel template that adds the X's for you & shows which cells have mistakes, but obviously it helps to understand the rules.. you could try playing with the sample download to see if it helps you understand the rules, from my blog page: cbirdcrochet.blogspot.com/2021/04/mosaic-crochet-chart-creator-template.html
is there any possible way for you to show an actual example of what you're trying to say? it sounds like it should work theoretically, but i'm just not understanding with just the computer image
Sure, I'll do more videos showing actual stitching, and include this technique as well. Thanks for the comment!
Yes. That's what I need. Or can I send you my design on graph paper and u convert it. I hate sc or wide single crochet it takes forever. And isn't as clean looking. Mosaic looks so clean. I'll pay you to co vert
I’m not familiar with Excel or any of them.
