I picked up my 2 x OM1 bodies on 9th March and since then have collected my new 40 - 150mm f4, battery grip, free batteries and my charger is now available for collection. So, together with my existing OM lenses and flash guns I am now sorted. The OM1 is an absolutely brilliant camera for my style of wildlife photography and now I have my grip it is much more comfortable with the 300mm f4 + MC14.
I also bought the RM-WR1 wireless remote. Pairing was very easy with OM-1. I bought some extra batteries for the remote and put them in my camera bag. It also has a cable to connect it to my OM-D EM1 MK III.
I'm very interested in that new remote! I've stopped using battery grips as I prefer to keep it as small as possible it's always nice option for those that like it and I do appreciate that the grip looks more like the bottom of the EM1X! Great video as usual, Peter!
Dam it just ordered an OM-1, battery grip and battery charger with spare battery, couldn’t stretch to the Bluetooth remote but I do have the wire remote already it all arrives on the 6th of May and my wife has band me from watching any more of your TH-cam video’s.
Been waiting a month for my OM-1. Big dilemma now is that Fuji might be releasing a stacked aps-c sensor next month and I've always want to try Fuji. Maybe if my order doesn't ship by mid May it'll be a sign, otherwise I'm looking forward to having my first high grade camera.
I didn't think about getting a battery grip for any of my other bodies until I happened to get one for my E-M1 (which I don't have anymore). Now I use battery grips on a lot of my camera bodies. My hands shake, so having the grip on the body in portrait mode makes it so much easier to hold. Sometimes I use it without the extra battery in the grip
I got one. I really like it but extra batteries are still on backorder. I also got the remote. The wireless capability is really handy. I bought some extra batteries for the remote and I put in my camera bag. The remote has a cable to connect to my OM-D EM1 MK III which is also handy.
I am still Jurassic with a E-M1 ii. I have the HLD-9 but it does not get used much, I prefer a lighter load most of the time. As for a remote, if I ever need one I would go with the phone app. 👍
I'm really thinking about getting the OM-1. Mainly for the 4K 60p video. I have the M1X and use it on my RS2 gimbal but it only has 4K 30p. Plus, the OM-1 is a bit smaller and lighter and should work well with the gimbal.
In the part about the new wireless control, you note how to pair it with bluetooth. That makes me wonder if it would be possible to also pair a bluetooth GPS tagging device to OM1 Do you know if this is possible? The omission of GPS in such a high end travel camera seems hard to understand...
Unfortunately there is a lot of demand. The component shortage is also one thing that makes things harder. Set up a notification mail in the shop. You will get an email when the remote is available.
App is great if you need LiveView. Having a remote without using the phone is quite good if you want to use the phone for something else at the same time.
Hi Peter, great video. I've just got myself an em5 mkiii as a light weight option to my Sony full frame. I find phone apps a bit fiddly so was looking for a wireless shutter release for the Olympus, do you know if there is a compatible wireless release for this camera, I'm struggling to find one.
Hi Peter~ I just got my HLD-10 yesterday~ I found when the grip is attached the body, there is a gap between the grip and body. (Light can come through the gap) Do you have the same issue? thanks ( sorry for my poor English)
Peter, I have just got the grip but have a question. If I change the button function on the grip it works while the camera is on, but as soon as I turn the camera off it goes back to its original setting (as it is when you get it). Is there any way to correct this so the button setting stays the same? As always, great instructive videos - thanks
For the Rm-wr1 to work after I turn off and on the Om-1, I have to delete pairing, and start pairing. If I don’t do this, the remote controller does not work. Do you know this problem? And what can I do?
I have not had problems with that. But if I have it paired with two OM-1s it only works on the camera that was used last. I need to unpair and pair again with the other one.
The RM-CB2 Remote can be used with the OM-1? How? The camera doesn't have a port for controlling the shutter. (I own this remote but bought the new wireless remote because the older one doesn't work wit the OM-1. Did I spend $100 in error?
@@ForsgardPeter You are correct! Hidden behind a cover - not mentioned or identified in any of the manuals for the OM-1. So, I wasted $100 because OM Digital wanted users to spend more money. I actually like the wired remote better (at least on the E-M5III) - I will see how it works on the OM-1. I don't think B&H will let me return the wireless remote because the battery has been installed. Thanks for pointing this out.
On page 279 in the manual there is only info about the RM-WR1. I agree that info about the compatibility with RM-CB2 should have been mentioned. The info about the port is on page 16.
@@robertcudlipp3426 Because I am so tired of people who don’t own an Olympus camera, never have owned one and never will own one still takes the time to complain on a site dedicated to Olympus. The battery grip for Fuji xh2s is US $ 399! Been to a Fuji site and complained about he price?
@@hemligx-sson8202 Well, let me provide some history of my Olympus, now OMS ownership to you given the seemingly rude nature of your post. Some people have pointed out that the quality of the Hld-10 does not compare to the quality of the camera or for that matter the Hld-9. Specifically, the battery door is flimsy. It does.
Good video, Peter. Thank you! What lens were you using with your 'covert' subway video?
I used DJI Action 2: A modular "action" camera from DJI.
Thanks Peter. What range does the wireless remote have please. Same similar to O. I. Share app for instance
I will need to test that. I did not test that yet. I bet the OM Image Share app has longer reach. Bluetooth has about 10m (30ft) reach.
