Dear bob: You Built a 1/32 UK model on 2014. Have this one from Arkmodels better details?

Hi Bob, I want to get one TypeVIII as nice as you do. But the Arkmodel charge me 1333USD as HDL deliver fee. That's terribly expensive. Did they charge you so expensive mail charge?

So what normally happens when you take the boats out to the lake? do you do speed runs? bottom the boat? play the red october/das boot theme and do some circuits? sneak up on each other? go out with some surface ships? or just do few dives and have satisfaction of completing a weeks long project?

All of the above! Heading out with other sub captains is always fun as it adds a level of experience to have to navigate around and with each other's boats. It's much more fun to troll the surface craft, however....

I started building this model , with the Conning tower, I think Bob is in the USA, In Canada most of all plastic glues are really degraded , they will not weld bond this material, so use the solvent glue or testors to tack, and 5 minute epoxy(I'm old some may be able to work with 1 minute epoxy, 15 minute probably soon to be), they all take 24 hours to cure)to actually bond, sand all areas to be bonded , use tape to hold things, thank you for all your videos, have yet to get to ordering the internal workings , but pretty sure I'll try to help with Bobs retirement fund at this point.

So the cylider doesen't have compressed air for when the boat surfaces? you just have to keep the periscope above the waterline to surface the boat? or do you just use the dive planes to rise and lower the boat while underwater and remove the water when the periscope surfaces?

think its like a centrifugal pump so there may be some leakage into the tank from the periscope when under water but not much...then use dive planes to lift periscope above water line and pump air in. just guessing here. the other models compress air already in tank when water comes in so wonder why not here, maybe makes a lighter sub? dont know

Maybe the sub is too small to fit a compressed tank?

I purposely designed this boat to be slightly positively buoyant at all times. When the tank is completely full, the boat will sit with just the tip of the tower protruding from the surface. In this way, there is (theoretically) no chance of losing the boat as if anything happens, it will eventually return to the surface. It takes only slight forward movement and a bit of down plane to bring it under completely and hold at periscope depth.

Yeah i guess it would suck if you lost it, so have you lost a sub before? as you decided to make this one like this

+starkiller70 I build these for customers, so it's more about their experience than mine. For beginners, this is the only way I'd recommend setting up a boat.

Would get into this hobby if someone made a holland boat kit, there might be one out there, but I can't find one

Keith, RPMTECH used to offer a beautiful Holland, but they're out of business now.
