True, if you're really moving and have your fuel burn/trim speed optimized. That's some hard core stuff though, and I like to give people generalizations that are easy to swallow. Beginner wing specs, average fuel burn, etc
@@AveryFlies fair enough. Even as a newbie on my first flights on a viper I was getting the figures possible to push 400-500km though. It's more about endurance.
Cross country flying is rad. Chill sit back relax check out all that detail below & enjoy the ride. Not a pilot, I wonder how easy that is to do with all that stuff happening and at elevation.
Hi Avery, first of all: I like your channel very much and I highly appreciate your content! 👍😁 I have two questions: - Why did you choose the APCO F3 over the Vantage 3, which you praised a lot in the beginning? - Looking for my second wing after outgrown my Mojo PWR: I've flown the F3, nice wing, but I don't like the risers and the magnet of the brake is too weak. The Luna 3 is too 'nervous' and agile for me. I need a wing which I can fly every day, which is a bit agile, but could also be flown in thermal conditions without fear 😅. Thank you in advance for your opinion! Best wishes from Cologne, Germany 🙏
Thanks for checking out the video! The vantage is a great first wing, I recommend it as an "after school" wing only because it's a bit fragile and not a great idea to kite heavily with it in the beginning. It does not compare to the F3 in speed or agility though. I really wanted a wing that could catch up to what anyone else was flying while being stable, easy to launch, and fun. I think the vantage is still a great wing, but it is not much of an upgrade in the speed category because it isn't reflex. As for a second wing for you, I would consider the F3 again, maybe with aftermarket brake toggles. Trevor Steele aka back country ppg makes some very nice two finger toggles with good magnets that I will be switching over to soon, I think. You get used to the risers and toggles, what seems like a big deal now might fade as you get comfortable with the wing. I have also flown a Luna 2, Ozone Speedster, and a Gin falcon, the Luna and Falcon I would also describe as overly responsive in turbulence or "nervous". The speedster left some inflation performance on the table for me, but you may consider it or a sirocco for similar F3 performance. All of these are reflex wings, you'll find they all have relatively busy risers compared to a mojo. To put it in car terms, don't decide you hate the F3 because it has funny cup holders if you like suspension and steering better. Hope this helps!

Awesome stuff. I also enjoy watching your content. Informative. Interesting. I like the focus on Aviation itself. My airspeed is about 30 KILOMETERS per hour so I really don't go anywhere fast. How interesting the views are when cross country flying really depends on the country you're crossing of course. ;) For many doing the whole exercise is enjoyable. The trip planning, execution, adjusting things as you go, constantly considering the options and requirements to continue or deciding not too, debriefing/congratulating yourself, etc. Did you expect to be landing directly into the setting sun?
Love the fact you fly an f3 and love seeing your content
Hello fellow F3 enjoyer
LOVE IT, Thank You!
500 km straight line is easy even with only 5 gallons. You can do a triangle of a bit less than that too if you plan well.
It's also pretty easy to calculate your optimal km/L trim speed for your set up given nil wind.

@@turkeyphant Yeah, I don't have that. I hate sitting and barely moving lol. Give me 20 ft high and carving a field vs going somewhere

Pretty boring for me. 🤷 Different strokes for different folks.
