I will never buy another one as long as musk owns the company. My M3 performance is a great car, but although it was advertised as getting 315miles on a full charge, the most it can possibly get is 270 and its usually less, and that's with every energy consuming feature disabled to maximize range. They offered me a $500 service credit if I signed a paper saying I'd never discuss it publicly.. Lots of good alternatives out there now. Rivian, Polestar, etc.
Still no 800V architecture, no bigger battery, no increased range, no increased charging speed, no V2L, no V2G. Most Chinese EVs have all those features
Thats because Tesla is relying on their brand image to do their sales so they think they cant get away with less for the same. But Elon Musk the clown is actively destroying the brand image too so if they dont up their game they will be left behind
800V has no benefit to the car, it is only affecting charging speed by reducing losses in the charging cable. The range is quite good already. Battery development is independent from model changes. V2L and V2G are nice but if you buy a home battery that even keeps the lights on when your car isn't at home. Tesla sells those as well.
That would be great, but it seems like Tesla thinks the future of their company is one where there is no driver, so I'd guess that's why features like those are getting left out.
I've been holding out for Juniper for about ~15months now. Don't think I can justify Launch though. $8k FSD and $3k White/White/Tow being "included" is an $11k value but the old MY right now is sitting at a base of $40k. With the options I want, $43k. Juniper at $58k… pretty hard to justify nearly a 34% premium when I've already been patient 15months and if I'm patient 16 or 17 I can get what I want for sub-$50k with FSD as-needed at $100/mo. Also don't really care about the Tax Credit because if it goes away then I fully expect pricing to drop $3-5k in short order as well.
Yeah...they can do it with the extra $15K. I don't see any dramatic technological improvment that can lower the cost of battery for the next 10+ years available for the public. Plus, ev demand is diminishing dramatically here in the US and that is not good. It is all about the price and FED Funds rate.
All Current Modely Y 2021+ owner easly going to wait another year or 2 before upgrade, that second gen suspension will be my biggest reason to upgrade tbh :D
I'm sorry that have to keep waiting for the regular priced Model Y Juniper as I am keen to buy, but not interested in paying more than the old Model Y. Before they reduced it to clear out old inventory of course.
It would be funny if Tesla made the puddle light also exclusive to the model y performance whenever it releases. Like a badge that resembles the performance badge. To be honest I feel like they should do that for all their performance cars (plaids included.)
Excited, but I'll wait with my 2020 Model Y Performance, since this new Model Y likely won't have better range or charging speeds compared to mine, and I'm sure the trade-in value for mine won't be much which will make it tougher to trade up. I also have 105k miles/168.9k km on it after only 4 and a half years, so I'm really enjoying driving it and doing road trips with it. But for anyone who doesn't already own a Tesla, that Launch edition is an overall pretty great deal since I paid $72k for mine back in 2020 with blue color, tow hitch, FSD ($7k at the time), and no tax credit. No clue what will happen with the tax credit going forward, so if you qualify for it, I'd jump at that deal.
Is it guaranteed if you order the Model Y refresh now that you will get the tax credit? Is tax credit dependent on when vehicle is ordered or when picked up?
Ill be waiting for the 3row option... I need a family car and I am considering as well the Kia or Hyundai EVs... lets see. It is a pity they put that launch version without 7 seats, otherwise I would buy it... specially for such launch price.
I was comparing the costs and it seems there's a premium price on the launch model, making it confusing with 0-60 halfway between the current performance and long range models. I can't tell this is a performance model or long range awd, maybe that is intentional

Launching in March means most of us will likely need to wait until next winter to have that extremely important, potentially deal breaking question answered. I will not be buying any Tesla in the first year of its life cycle ever again. For now, my 2021 Model Y seems like an even better deal than it did when I bought it.
Thanks Ryan, that launch edition is available in Canada as well for $84,990.00 after watching Kyle's Out of Spec review from China this is a really great upgrade! I priced up the same car but in a Long Range AWD, with White color, white interior, 19" wheels and FSD and it is CAD$82,516.00 which is only $2,474.00 more so to me a really great deal if you want FSD and by the looks of it it is now worth it. My current 2023 Model Y Long Range AWD, white exterior white interior with tow hitch is limited on FSD as it is a HWD3 car, so I am really wondering how the fit and finish will be on such an early release, so similar to the outgoing that it may not be an issue. has there been on the Model #3 refresh on early deliveries?
I don't know🤔. Have been driving both 3 and Y since 2021 and it is just ev. Very inconvenient for long distances, and the space inside is just not so feasible for our family. 60k for everything included is a solid deal especially with 7500 credit. I bought a full spec awd and it cost 59,900. Same price. I got 0% interest which is not here now.
What does it mean by limited release? So this model Y doesn’t come in performance, long range rear wheel drive, and long range all wheel drive anymore? It is only $59,990 version only?
Actually, at $59,999 it is $5,000 (white seats, wheels, and acceleration boost) off what you'd pay. Additionally the $7,500 tax credit going away might be a very large cost offset. Agreed, Tesla is known for first run issues for whole new vehicles, but this is more akin to the Model 3 refresh, most likely. So maybe less issues?
I was looking at trading my model s ( 400 mile range ) in on a new model y …. NEVER !!! will I do that until they increase the range to 400 mile plus on the model y.
I don't want the stalks. The buttons on the wheel work great for me! I love the quirky shit that makes it more like a car should be! Forget the past! This is the now!
It makes zero sense to change things just for the sake of changing things; especially when it makes the car worse. I am all for innovation, but you have to admit your first choice for a turn signal wouldn't be two tiny buttons on the spinning steering wheel.
Looks pretty awesome except the wheels. I needed bigger seats and ventilated seats. Unfortunately 303 mile range translates to 242 miles with recommended 80% charge. After 10-% degradation we’re back down to 220 miles which translates to 180 real world highway miles. I’ll have to wait hoping they offer a something that can get me close to 300 miles on my 80% recommended charge.
Do you put 300 miles on it everyday? Sincere question. If so, I understand the frustration, but if not, just charge it to 100% before those long road trips. As long as it's not done everyday, it shouldn't affect battery life too much.
My situation is similar, frequent trips to the mountains, winter tires, cold temps -10c, 165km each way, 7 hrs cold soak, ski box, and it has to do it in year 5. It's close but it's not their yet. @jayhache5609
I would say definitely buy now especially if you have any thought of wanting FSD. The tax credit is going to die, the trade war will make various parts cost more and raise the price, then the robo taxis come out and the price of FSD will probably go up, and demand for Teslas also will go up which raises prices. My Model Y is less than a year old or I would be placing my order, and still a bit tempted to trade it in with 1,500 miles…
Thinking it might make sense to wait until 3rd quarter. Seems cool, yet waiting is prob the way. Heck, maybe there will be a good update by end of year. Still… it’s tempting!
“Maybe I should sell my 3 and get the new Y, it looks really nice”. (Elon Musk raises his arm in salute) “Maybe I should wait, or look at other brands.”
A great all-round luxury SUV with a high focus on vehicle dynamics, and less on the interior. But we buy Tesla for their technology, and we are not seeing the cheaper, better 800/48V tech.

Not exactly ideal for owning an EV…
