what an awesome instructional video, I was working on something like this today. By concentrating on having my left shoulder over the ball while I'm at the top of my swing, I noticed I naturally turn the same as you're describing here. I felt more joined or closer together with my arms/elbows at the top of my swing, that along with incorporating the pinky squeeze (which I have seen before) makes a big difference. Great job Mike. I will reluctantly share this video with my fellow golfers.
'Pinky squeeze' explained/does so many things I was missing in a single tip: getting the 45deg wrist hinge early, getting clubhead higher on takeaway without coming inside too much, flattening the left wrist. I couldn't do all those things separately, superb!!
I’m from Japan and watch every single one of your videos. I saw a significant improvement in the beauty and consistency of my swing. Thank you so much for always providing such useful advice!
Thanks for sharing! This is exactly why we do what do! To help as many people as possible play better golf and enjoy the worlds greatest game more than ever!
I have to be honest with you when I say most of the Golf advice I’ve seen on TH-cam does more harm than good but you sir, with your neat little trigger, have solved an issue I’ve had in an instant! I believe I owe you a beer mate 😊
Unbelievable! I am 78 years old and my game has been slipping away since I was 75. At age 72 my handicap was steady between 8-9. I could still play at 6,500 yards. Then at age 73 the slipping away started. Until 3 days ago I was saying to myself ok your playing good golf is done. I said, that is ok, I had a good run. Then I saw your video. I went out back in my yard and loosened up. Started slowly and then it happened. Solid strikes, 20-25 more distance with driver and great control. Played today and shot 83, with 2 3 putts on healing greens. This absolutely works. It gives me a few more years of competitive golf. Thanks.
This is gold. My golf coach gave me this exact lesson a month ago and since then I have been striking the ball more consistent than ever. Amazing you post this content for free. Keep up the great work.
Awesome job Mike! I had been hinging my wrist this whole time. What a eureka moment. Videos like these help give me peace of mind. Half the battle is having conviction and knowing the “why/how”.
Thank you for sharing! This is exactly why we do what do! To help as many people as possible play better golf and enjoy the worlds greatest game more than ever! We are gonna keep doing our best to grow and help as many golfers as possible!
Who knew that squeezing the pinky could hinge and set the club? That's a great tip! I understand the concept about leverage and pushing down to hinge the club but I have never heard it explained that way. Thanks Mike!
I have cycled through almost all the TH-cam golf videos and must say you guys a head and shoulders the best. The details around the takeaway and what the arms do are fantastic. I wish someone would have taught me this stuff years ago. But old dogs can learn new tricks!
That is fataatic to hear! Thank you so much for sharing! This is exactly why we do what do! To help as many people as possible play better golf and enjoy the worlds greatest game more than ever!
I’m 54 and have played inconsistent golf all my life but have no doubt if this channel existed 30 years ago I would have become a scratch golfer. Just thankful I still have plenty of golf left and have already made significant improvement because of these excellent instructionals. These guys unbelievably make the golf swing seem easy
Thank you so much for sharing! This is exactly why we do what do! To help as many people as possible play better golf and enjoy the worlds greatest game more than ever!
You are so welcome! Thank you for sharing! This is exactly why we do what do! To help as many people as possible play better golf and enjoy the worlds greatest game more than ever!
Thank you very much, this is one of the most valuable lessons I have seen on all golf channels so far, I have practiced it, and it has changed my game radically, again, thank you very much!
AMAZING! I have suffered from a inside takeaway (Nancy Lopez) and struggled to get rid of it. After 2 practice swings squeezing with my left pinky finger, I videoed my swing and my takeaway is fixed!!! I owe you!!!!
Thank you for sharing! This is exactly why we do what do! To help as many people as possible play better golf and enjoy the worlds greatest game more than ever!
As always the detail is so clearly explained and why things should happen in a timely way. Your subscriber figures should be way higher than they are and the only reason I think they are not is that people want quick fixes and thankfully you don't offer that. There is no substitute for quality coaching, thank you guys.
We are not here to give you guys Band-Aids like most, we are here to build you guys a simple, repeatable efficient golf swing one that you can begin to play the best golf of your life with! Thank you so much for your kind words and thank you for watching!
I'm so excited about showing this to my young son as he has had the exact same issues and I believe this is the long-term fix. Thank you and God bless.
Thank you Mike one the best lessons I’ve watched from anyone and communicated clearly and concisely , your diplomatic comment about the student being a little portly “ You need to work on your flexibility” made me smile , Porzak Golf has to be the best communicated Golf instruction not to mention the excellent camera work the guy does a fantastic job , keep them coming ,thank you.
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words, John! We truly truly appreciate that, every member of our team! This is exactly why we do what do! To help as many people as possible play better golf and enjoy the worlds greatest game more than ever!
Put the pinky move into action today. Wow! Backswing was way more connected and comfortable. I am working on getting hands to go more around instead of away during backswing, Made a few swings with better results than anticipated, thanks!
Thanks for sharing that’s awesome! Find a good visual for your hand path path on the take away. You could look at your trail foot toes and be sure your hands go over the grass outside of your toes!
Mike…you are the best! So perfect and concise in your pinky description. As a golfer starting during Covid, I found this lesson to help me more than any other lesson! Thank you for allowing me to become an intermediate golfer according to my husband! So happy!!
Thank you so much! And thank you for sharing, This is exactly why we do what do! To help as many people as possible play better golf and enjoy the worlds greatest game more than ever!
That was great Mike! I use to take the club away with my left shoulder and then was told that the right shoulder takeaway created more width to the swing. So, now I'm back to square one, using all of the techniques you mentioned in your video. Although it's still a work in progress, I'm doing fairly well with the transition. Thanks for your Help Mike! I've also archived this video for future viewing!
That is absolutely fantastic! For someone who has the tendency to wrap the club too far inside and is left arm dominant and swings righty, I can’t wait to try this on the course today.
We so greatly appreciate that!! This lesson was actually Mike, Adams best friend and business partner. The only other porzak golf instructor out there! Thanks for watching!
The solution for me on these two issues, along with a few others possibly, is the simple thought of where my hands need to be in proper shaft lean and exiting left. Before I take it back it’s the last check point or thought in my routine. Works like a charm for me. Everything just happens naturally when I know where my hands need to get to.
Thank you for a great detailed lesson on the takeaway Mike! One of the worst checkpoints I struggle with in the backswing previously with 0 idea on how to achieve the "pro look." I cannot believe how easy it is thanks to you kind sir!
Amazing lesson. Thank you so much; it really works. Just to clarify. Do you maintain the same pressure with the pinky grip from address to follow through? Or initiate pressure at the start of the back swing and/or release it during down swing?
Loved it, Mike. Indeed a game changer. Quick ques (more on feel), does the squeeze start prior to the shoulder turn or at mainly at the half way point of the takeaway? Appreciate it
Super great video. The pinky squeeze and right elbow position is my main focus next swing session. These videos are my coach. I have been watching these videos for two years. Thank you for helping me win money on the course.😂. 🍻
Love all your videos but the pinky tip has totally changed my consistency. 2 days in a row at the range hitting pure strikes. Focusing on the left arm has allowed my right arm to flow in front of my body. Can't wait to hit the course on Monday.
so i'm sitting here squeezing my hand with each individual finger and when i get to the pinky i can feel the muscle in the lower forearm engage just under the ulna bone. i never noticed that before. i've been using the tip that you showed and it helped me a lot, thnx.
Nicklaus gripped with pressure in the last three fingers left hand and middle ones of the right. I think he also started back with left shoulder. I will try this out today. I like the way it gets the shaft elevated as I tend to be a little flat in my takeaway.
Loving the content you guys keep it up! If only I wasn't down under I'd be in for lessons in a heartbeat! I have a hideous trunk and hip start of the takeaway... looks like my arms follow whereas most guys look like shoulders and chest rotate first. Have you covered anything like this before?
Thank you for watching! We do offer two virtual learning options. Both have a proven track record of succes! Your comment about most people who play golf right handed are right hand dominant. I don't think most instructors address this issue. I'm right handed but I play golf left handed. I believe that there are factors that need to be considered due to dominant hand affecting the swing. Great instruction!
Thank you! You’re in the same category as Phil Mickelson and Jordan Spieth, they play golf from the correct side of the golf ball for their dominant arm, which is opposite of the way they play!
Press left 3 pinkys and turn left shoulder same time for backswing. Set up trail elbow like give blood.the conncted means, right elbow in front of right ribs.
How would you say the feel of the squeeze of the pinky finger differs from the feel on your left pad pressing down on the top of the grip that I’ve heard Adam refer to in some videos? Is it effectively the same thing?
What a game changing video! I’m going through a grip change and suddenly found myself taking the clubhead too far inside. Slowly learning how to properly re-hinge and this was a perfect video. As long as the trail hand stays “on top” during the takeaway, the clubhead should stay neutral/slightly closed in case the forearms get too active?
I was just discussing that pinky grip with my cousin last week. There are times I've noticed my lead pinky's grip is somewhat weak and it leads exactly to what you were saying about no leverage. I've noticed that these tend to be weaker shots and may be the recent cause of my open clubface (every other part of the swing being solid). Will definitely be more attentive to this!
I’m confused about the left arm and how it starts the takeaway. Does your left forearm feel like it’s rotating as you begin the takeaway or should I feel almost as though the palm of my left hand just feels like it’s going straight back as I start the backswing?
Which tip helped you out the most?? Let us know!
what an awesome instructional video, I was working on something like this today. By concentrating on having my left shoulder over the ball while I'm at the top of my swing, I noticed I naturally turn the same as you're describing here. Game changer this drill
'Pinky squeeze' explained/does so many things I was missing in a single tip: getting the 45deg wrist hinge early, getting clubhead higher on takeaway without coming inside too much, flattening the left wrist. I couldn't do all those things separately, superb!!
The elbow tuck was a game changer!
Do you have anything for overswing? It's a tricky habit to kick.
Where do I begin? Okay, gotta rush to the range now.
I have to be honest with you when I say most of the Golf advice I’ve seen on TH-cam does more harm than good but you sir, with your neat little trigger, have solved an issue I’ve had in an instant! I believe I owe you a beer mate 😊
That pinky grip tip is pure gold. Thank you!
Happy to help!
Mike Weir...a Canadian legend 🇨🇦🇨🇦

Wow I’ve been watching instructional videos since 2008. This is it .
The best training video I’ve seen so far in 2023! Thank you @porzak golf
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words! Make sure you subscribe , this is just the tip of the iceberg!!

Is it still working for you? That’s an awesome story.
The little pinky and left shoulder tip makes more sense for the start of the swing Thank you for sharing
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching!
This is gold. My golf coach gave me this exact lesson a month ago and since then I have been striking the ball more consistent than ever. Amazing you post this content for free. Keep up the great work.

Best golf video I have ever watched on youtube
Thank you thank you thank you!!!
This might be the most important video for my swing this season. Thank you!
Great to hear! Let us know how it goes!!!
I agree, excellent video, especially the right elbow part.

Wow, this is the kind of detail I love in a video.
"the logo moves the hands" so good!
Love your swing, Alexander.
Glad you like it!
Probably learned more with this video than i ever have. Good lesson
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words!!
"Finger tips to the thumb pad" is a good feel for me. Flattens the wrist, versus cupped, at the top.
After years of struggling with golf, this video brought me the aha moment and made me found the joy of golfing again. thank you so much! Mike!

all of the tips were extremely helpful and easy to understand.

THIS IS PURE GOLD. THANK YOU!!!!
I'm so excited about showing this to my young son as he has had the exact same issues and I believe this is the long-term fix. Thank you and God bless.
Thank you so much for watching!
I played well for years with not presetting my elbow but finally figured it out so for me it was the pinky. Completely 100% new to me!
Let’s go!!

Thank you so much for the kind words EJ!
Thank you. This helps me a LOT. I was struggling with the take away and the pinky finger thing helps me so much. Cheers from Argentina.
Thanks for watching! So glad it helped!
just an awesome video. it connects in every way. Keep crushing it Mike!
Thanks Ryan! We got you 👊🏼👊🏼

Thank you guys for putting this together. Basics are the best!!
Fundamentals!!
Awesome as always. Love the movements with the least manipulation. Makes it so easy for me to just go and not think of so many swing thoughts.
That is one of the big challenges of golf, not letting your thoughts inhibit motion and athleticism. Thank you so much for watching.
That young man's swing has come a long way and this will help his journey
That was great Mike! I use to take the club away with my left shoulder and then was told that the right shoulder takeaway created more width to the swing. I have worked on the move all winter long, thanks all y’all do.
You are very welcome! We absolutely love what we do and couldn’t do without you guys! Thank you for the support!
What a valuable lesson! Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Love the comment about Mike Wier…He was underrated but won bigs tournaments
Great player!! 🇨🇦
That is absolutely fantastic! For someone who has the tendency to wrap the club too far inside and is left arm dominant and swings righty, I can’t wait to try this on the course today.
We are so happy to hear that! Let us know how it goes when you get out to practice! It’s a game changer!
What a fantastic tip! Thank you.
Adam that lesson was simply demonstrated but right on!! Darn you’re good! 😀👏
We so greatly appreciate that!! This lesson was actually Mike, Adams best friend and business partner. The only other porzak golf instructor out there! Thanks for watching!
Learned something new today. All three movements/tips are great. Thanks for sharing.
So glad it helped! Thank you for watching!
Sweet video! Working great for me!!
Thank you for sharing and the kind words! This is exactly why we do what we do to help as many people as possible. Play better golf as we can!
This is really good. This and the video from about a year ago with the two guys from Mexico. They were doing the 45 degree angle. Huge eye opener.
Another great take away video! The set up and take away is so important in preset the rest of an efficient golf swing! Thank you so much for watching!
Super video Mike. You and AP are brilliant. I think I’d enjoy your vids even if I wasn’t a golfer!
Thank you so much Nick! We absolutely love what we do!
Best video I’ve seen on takeaway…
Thank you so much!
One of the better videos on takeaway I have seen in VERY long time. Excellent, clear, sensible instruction that can applied on the course. 🔥🙌👍
This is gold!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
This has been really helpful
Excellent advice Mike communicated clearly 😊
Thank you!
love it. KEEP IT COMING.
First time I learn squeezing left pinky and left shoulder turn it is working well for me.
Glad it helped!!
Amazing lesson. Thank you so much; it really works. Just to clarify. Do you maintain the same pressure with the pinky grip from address to follow through? Or initiate pressure at the start of the back swing and/or release it during down swing?
The squeeze of the pinky really helped for a more consistent takeaway.
Glad it helped!!
Thank you so much for watching!
Fantastic - so simple
Glad you like the simplicity of it!
Best takeaway description ever. My left forearm is on fire from the pinky pull.
It defintely will be!!! That means your doing it right!
Love all your videos but the pinky tip has totally changed my consistency. 2 days in a row at the range hitting pure strikes. Focusing on the left arm has allowed my right arm to flow in front of my body. Can't wait to hit the course on Monday.
Let’s go!!!!
so i'm sitting here squeezing my hand with each individual finger and when i get to the pinky i can feel the muscle in the lower forearm engage just under the ulna bone. i never noticed that before. i've been using the tip that you showed and it helped me a lot, thnx.
Using your left arm and wrist throughout the swing, is it ok to assume the right arm is just to hang on and ensure swing plane correct?
Awesome video guys! As always !!
Thank you!
Great post and explanation 👍 👏
🙏🏼
How do I not know who this is? This is excellent.
Hi Shaun! Thanks for watching! This is Mike! Half of the Porzak Golf team!
game changer tip.. thanks
Thanks for watching!
maintain the squeeze... great tip!
lead shoulder takes the way, and a relaxed supi trail elbow
Thank you so much. Everything is clearly described ❤
Glad it helped!!
Nicklaus gripped with pressure in the last three fingers left hand and middle ones of the right. I think he also started back with left shoulder. I will try this out today. I like the way it gets the shaft elevated as I tend to be a little flat in my takeaway.
If it was good enough for Jack, it’s good enough for us!
Loving the content you guys keep it up! If only I wasn't down under I'd be in for lessons in a heartbeat!
I have a hideous trunk and hip start of the takeaway... looks like my arms follow whereas most guys look like shoulders and chest rotate first.

Excellent!
Many thanks!
Finger squeeze!!! Great tip
Good stuff Mike!
Thanks for watching Rick!
Absolutely! Those two things have the same function, to set the club up in front of our hands!
great video, thanks.
Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much for watching! We are so happy this helped you!
It defintley will help create more efficiency!
Great video tips
Thank you!
I’m confused about the left arm and how it starts the takeaway. Does your left forearm feel like it’s rotating as you begin the takeaway or should I feel almost as though the palm of my left hand just feels like it’s going straight back as I start the backswing?
Amazing!! Thanks
