How tragic. That home is waiting for its family to come home and it will never happen. Thank you for showing respect for these old homes. Just such a beautiful farm house.

      Hi Auree D...
I agree with you 100%! A back story on who lived there, why they seemed to just up and leave, or was there some tragedy? Why wasn't such a valuable place put on the market, or claimed by someone? I mean, are there massive issues requiring repairs? Maybe that beautiful house is haunted? (don't laugh, I've heard more unusual things.)
If I had a way of getting it repaired it would make a great sanctuary for kids, animals, or students. Anyway, let's keep wishing... In the meantime,
Take Care of you and yours, and Stay Safe and Well...

Wen Is-Me Yes I agree why would anyone leave such a place and it did occur to me that it must be haunted or maybe a traumatic event that they just wanted to run away from.

In my culture birds carry the souls of the deceased.. The bird tried to protect the property at the beginning (when you entered) but he got more comfortable later.. I guess he is the soul of the one of the inhabitants of this house

      Greetings Kelli Corkery...
I agree with so many other responders. The house and grounds ar beautiful! I can imagine waking up in the morning and cooking in that awsome kitchen, going out to the barn and feeding and watering any animals, taking a basket to a kitchen garden (like I used to go to with my grandma) and pick anything ripe to add to the dinner menu. It truly I'd a dream property. Plus there was so much left behind. I'd bet a lot of it would still be useable. I think that little chandelier was quite charming. Oh well, sorry for the book, I just wanted to tell you that you weren't alone. There's a lot of people like you that share a dream. Good luck, Take care and Stay Safe and Well...

@@angellehull7949 Angelle my daughter and her husband wanted a bigger place and she asked me to move on a property with them. Thought at the time that it was a good idea. The place had a partially converted garage on it and finished it. Cost about 50,000.00 to 70,000 grand to finish it off. I also put 40,000 dollars down from the sell of the home I had before moving to there property. Paid 3,000.00 in closing costs. Seven months after moving there she decided she was unhappy and wanted a divorce. Once the property was devided up, her husband getting the property I had no where to live. It's just money but then i lost my job because of health issues. Now that I have money coming in again would love to have a place again of my own. I am disabled and DO Not make as much as I did. It would be great to get the story on the old places where so much stuff is left behind. I was half expecting someone to answer when we saw all the footwear so neatly lined up. There must be some incredible stories! Thanks again!

The only reasons I can think of that someone would just leave *everything* (and it has nothing to do with mold):
    1. On the lam.
    2. Murdered.
    3. Witness protection program.
    4. Died - no heirs.
    5. Made a bundle selling the place
    and wanted everything new.
    6. Fled to Israel to avoid prosecution.

This poem always comes to mind.
    Abandoned Farmhouse
    BY TED KOOSER
He was a big man, says the size of his shoes
    on a pile of broken dishes by the house;
a tall man too, says the length of the bed
in an upstairs room; and a good, God-fearing man,
says the Bible with a broken back
    on the floor below the window, dusty with sun;
but not a man for farming, say the fields
cluttered with boulders and the leaky barn.
A woman lived with him, says the bedroom wall
papered with lilacs and the kitchen shelves
covered with oilcloth, and they had a child,
says the sandbox made from a tractor tire.
Money was scarce, say the jars of plum preserves
and canned tomatoes sealed in the cellar hole.
And the winters cold, say the rags in the window frames.
It was lonely here, says the narrow country road.
Something went wrong, says the empty house
in the weed-choked yard. Stones in the fields
say he was not a farmer; the still-sealed jars
in the cellar say she left in a nervous haste.
And the child? Its toys are strewn in the yard
like branches after a storm-a rubber cow,
a rusty tractor with a broken plow,
a doll in overalls. Something went wrong, they say.

The items don't look that old, especially the toys 1990's maybe?. Is it possible they were renters and left or kicked out and could not take all their stuff with them? You guys are so braves walking through these old homes, I would be nervous of going through the floors or a wild animal attack. I find these videos are allowing these old homes to tell some of their story. Thanks for sharing.

I was a child & I remember the furniture as for the baby stuff I have pics of me sitting & laying on that pattern 🙂 I pray the family is well & the children r ok & life turned out well for them .Thank you for sharing🏚 💚💛🧡💙 🏚

I cannot imagine why, in the middle of moving out, a family would just stop and leave their shoes, dishes, washer & dryer, and a dolly for furniture moving, behind. Obviously they were packing up to move (the toys packed in boxes, the moving dolly, the fact that some drawers and closets were empty) but they left too much essential stuff behind, and it's a stretch to think they just decided to buy so much new, even if they got a good sum for selling the house. I hate to say it, but this scenario smacks of catastrophe. If I knew where this place was, I might do a search in the news over the past five years to see if any fatal traffic accidents had claimed the lives of a family, but then again, the idea seems morbid.

The whole roof needs replacing, and pretty much every floor as well. There's a possibility even the walls are water damaged to a point they'd need to be replaced. It's a shame but this house is beyond saving.

One lady was the last of her family and had all the stuff from her brother and sister who were deceased and then she went to a nursing home. This house was a double, filled from cellar to attic as well as enclosed porches. With the roof that bad it wouldn't be worth it.

That is not the look of leaving in a hurry. Nothing there is of value. Old furniture, accessory clothing and old childrens toys. When many people move, you trash a lot of stuff that has been accumulated over the years. When you sell your house that is going to be destroyed, would you take the time to throw it out or make it developers problem? If it was in a hurry, you smash clothing in bags, take memories and out the door. There clearly went through what they wanted.
