- Chamillionaire is considered to be a "One Hit Wonder." Most people look at that as a bad thing. But now he is worth over $50 million dollars by quitting music entirely and moving into a whole new career.

Chamillionaire is the perfect example of taking a chance with the opportunity you are given, he had a successful rap career, was able to invest, and now is set up for life. Alot of times many people become blind to the money they have and think it becomes an endless pit, but Chamillionaire saw an opportunity and knew that you can lose everything in a matter of seconds and dedicated himself to getting more money. That's a win-win situation for me
The perfect example?? 😆
This is textbook business peripheral vision instead of getting lost in the rapper sauce he had his head on a swivel and was well positioned for the opportunity when it presented itself.
@A Vibe Called Yes Dope name👌..Nah I'm not hating tho, good Monday
@J Freeman and? Money more important than fame.
Chamillionaire is possibly the smartest one-hit wonder in history.
You will never hear Snow or Gerardo being as successful as Chamilllionare in business.
Dude is a genius some people just don't know when to stop but,he did.
is a*
give me a huge hit like that and all of a sudden ill become a "genius"
@@SphereOfStreaming you can make money off a hit but how you gonna make it grow ?
@@elhadji13 Exactly. investing isn't as easy as some people think.
@@SphereOfStreaming give you a huge hit? No One gave him his huge hits buddy. He earned it. Fucking moron.
If you followed chamillionaire, you know he wasn't just a one hit wonder & moved differently from the average rapper... he dropped plenty of classic mixtapes & was making good investments. He's also still collecting checks from his one hit song.. Very smart guy!
I personally never understood why being a one-hit-wonder was so bad. I mean, that's one hit more than most people will ever get and if you're clever you can make a comfortable living off of one hit. Lou Bega for example had a world wide hit with "Mambo Number 5", and I am pretty sure he still receives paychecks because of that song. He once said in an interview that he can now do whatever he wants and do the music he wants to do, even if it isn't successful in any way, that one hit will pay for it.
If you know the Houston scene also. He parlayed the millionaire stuck in Texas life style for expansion. His mixtapes we classic and he was one of the best lyricist and melodically sound.
Thank you sir I was just about to say this man a legend so a 1 hit wonder doesn’t even come close to this man
Exactly, I never knew about his businesses but he made great songs independently.
Took the OATH like everyone ELSE. You DON’T make 50 million of the devils money without his consent. Wake up people! The prince hall freemasons and the college frats are the KKK!

& what is the difference?

What about Trump before presidency. Wasn't he a billionaire businessman. But didn't he declare bankruptcy twice, lmao!?

Facts
Which is so ironic that his rap name is Chamillionaire
Chamillionaire deserves major respect. Shining a light on the shady practices of record labels, refuses to undervalue your worth, and helping others follow the right path/not get done dirty by anyone. I hate comparing him to Ashton Kutcher but he’s the one who comes to mind when I think of “famous” individuals who diversify & use their royalties to fund startups, diversify, and not be left at the mercy of talent agencies.
I know Ashton isn't "rap" cool but anyone smart would kill to have Ashton's business sense in addition to helping stopping sex trafficking. The guy does tons. 💯💯
Lil Durk comes to mind, he’s got a successful trucking company on the side as well.
@@wesstewart2677 I haven’t looked into him. Im rather “old” & hadn’t heard of him but I will now.
@@DapperCracker512 Not only that, he worked to help get a murderer put behind bars. He has the burden of being the last person to see one of his dates alive. She was murdered later on the same night by a sick man, and Ashton was able to recall many details, work with authorities, and have her killer brought to Justice.
@@FigmentForever I’m not necessarily a fan of the guy. But I respect his hustle.
He got the bag from ridin dirty and dipped from the industry. Dude was already hella smart and he used that money and invested that money smartly and became super rich. Good on him
I feel like most rappers should follow this step
@@YoungChuy2398 yes but most rappers dont think. They just wanna look cool and spend money to flex. They care too much about their reputation. They only think about now and not the future. Plus lets be honest, there are some really dumb rappers in the game.

Right, I never knew. Such a smart man. He stuck to what he wanted to do and excelled. It’s amazing and also a shame that so many other men and women feel like they can’t do this because they are not opening there minds to see it
People like Cham are those who should be more out there. Because his story is really inspiring. His vision is something else and was ahead of his time
It looks like Cham was just ahead of everyone else his business moves were methodical, planned out and he grinded. He didn’t slack and was hard working and it really paid off for him.
Hi Garou
Lil wayne should be doing this after all they claim he is the best rapper of all time 😄 🤣 😂 😆
I recently heard about how much Chamillionaire really has and I was shocked. It really shows how much of an opportunity only one hit song truly is.
it's all about what you do with that money & fame!
i think this video showed more how much you can do with it if you are smart, with just the song he wouldn't be worth a fraction of what he is now if not for his intelligence and moving on from clout chasing and club fame when he realized how greedy the record labels were and how much easier it was to make money if you invest it vs spending it and hoping on another hit record.
@@PatrickCc what will you do with you money and fame? Will you make the same mistakes as others or follow in chamillionaires shoes?
Yo I think he has more than $50 mill in investments.
yeah it’s exactly how these one hit wonders should be doin it rappers really don’t make much money despite what these dummies out here think i’d make one song get my money and bounce just like he did more people should actually do this specially if they made a good song
He has to be worth way more than 50M by now. I'm proud to see him do all that he has done so far.
He might be paying them so we don’t know is a billionaire
At the same time, it's none of our business.
@@albertvnguyen He make a smart move
He is way richer than that. Dude invested in big tech before they blew up. I wouldn’t be surprised if he probably is close to a billion net.
true all net worths are low balled like akademiks said lilbabyhas made 100million but his networth is 10 million tho the website said the same years ago
I was fortunate enough to be friends with Cham (Hakeem) for a short while, when he first was breaking into the tech scene and moving away from Universal. He was the last artist to have a 50/50 deal, before labels switched to their 360 model. He told me several times that he didn’t consider himself a rapper, but a nerd/geek. My former company built his virtual currency rewards system for his website highlighted in this video. Cham is a good guy and deserves all his success.
As a Houstonian, this literally moved me. I love seeing my people win and play smart. Dude is a legend in this city just like Slim and Paul.
Houstonian Jesus Christ you live in a state in America called Texas Jesus idk why people come up with these stupid titles for where there from
@@perrycoffey5410 It's a such a common concept in all major cities. Have you never heard of a new Yorker ? As a citizen of Houston it's thrown around all the time
He's gotta be worth way more than $50M if he invested in all those companies before they blew up in value. Good on him for finding other ways of making money.
Depending on how big his stake was and how his other investments have performed. Tech investing is a hit or miss business.
All your investments won't work out. U might have 2 winners and 8 losers. But those 2 winners will make up for those 8 losers and then some. That's how VC's look at it.
@@Mr_JRH Yeah that's it. The average yearly returns should be around 40% (very roughly because it's extremely volatile) and not the 700% you see on specific companies because you don't want to bet it all on one investment
@PainPillzPittBullz&Pistolz maybe you should follow their lead 🤔 you'd be a TH-cam millionaire
@PainPillzPittBullz&Pistolz you went way off topic.... start your millionaire journey
can’t believe we don’t hear about him more. i am in college for business and we always talk about big investors like buffet, but it’d be so nice to talk about people who are innovators in the modern era
I urge young people to further look at the people you study in your respective fields. Buffet's investing acumen may be well respected but realize the era he came from and his father being a politician helped him create 'smarter' investments where it was ideal to buy low/sell high. Chamillionaire's situation is one where the deck was stacked against him but used his business sense to not get screwed in typical arrangement that artists have with the record label industry. Not just that but also tap into businesses that he was already utilizing (social media, platform business models).
Buffet is ....fucking....... Boring...... so yeah... Schools need to get up to speed on true innovators and big thinkers.
chamillionaire and akon 101
Shout-out to Patrick for not only the constant bangers but also shining light on those (even less popular) celebs that turn fame into even more success by being smart with their riches 🙌 its not about all the fame and money but also sustaining a good life for you and yours, thanks for another great back story about an artist with a song from my childhood
He does a very good job of humanizing the subjects of his videos helping you to relate to these people you otherwise might not
Yep. It's about being wise and sagacious with the money you earn.
I grew up listening to this guy I had no idea that he was on this type of level until now
He may have not had much commercial success but his mixtapes were fire. He was pure in his rhymes and stayed true to himself.
I love how extensive your research is and how well you present it. Wishing you 10 million subs and the ability to hire more homies
What an absolute legend. So much respect for him. Thanks Pat for brining us this story!
What a dude way ahead of his time. Doing seminars in early 2000s. Man’s knew what it was.
So my mind is kind of blown. Ive always been a big Chamillionaire fan & still go back & listen to my favorite songs by him, but if you go back & listen to "Ultimate Victory", all the lyrics & things he says throughout the song tie right in with your video essay right here. Its honestly insane. He was saying all of these things right in front of our faces. Its beautiful!
I forget the song but he said "Ima do like master P. Just make all my cash then leave." Genuinly disappointed when he stopped rapping. Was my favourite rapper for a bit there.
@@Traxtal He is the only rapper I still like. He has a GREAT verse in the song with Tobe NWigwe. He hasn't lost a single step. Came out a couple months ago.
@@TheBajamin yea I seen it. That verse was sick! I was so happy to see that 1. Even though he left rap for a bit he can still hold his own. And 2 its possible he could come back.

Glad you shining light on this.. a lot of people (including me) did not know about this part of Chamillionaire's story..
Wow I remember before riding dirty I remember his website I can quote all his mixtape messiah 1 all 3 disc still even tho it's been many since it's crazy because he was once my favorite rapper he stood on bizness salutes to da homie
The moment I heard he had a JV with Universal where he didn't get screwed like many artists who signed with a music label, I knew he was gonna eat better than most. Problem with some of the rappers coming in young in that relationship is they don't realize how screwed they are. They don't even own their masters and the bigger the hits they make, the more the label just rakes in and the artists get the crumbs with what motivation they have to pump out yet another hit.
@PainPillzPittBullz&Pistolz Why do you keep copying and pasting this. You obviously aren't black so there's alot of things you don't know about black culture. Music or otherwise 🤔
Listen to all his old xixtapes, you'll see how smart and ahead of the game he's always been. on his album he has a verse that goes "You run when they tell you to, but I move when I'm ready to, If you stop to take a breather, you'll see that I'm light years ahead of you".. He wasn't lying 🔥🔥

You should already recognize "See me rollin', they hatin'", thats his biggest song and is still relevant as a meme.
This story reminds me of the original goal for rappers coming from the hood where their original was to make it out and then move on to bigger endeavors.
Chamillionaire made this idea come full circle💡
A lot of times that's the original goal, but they become distracted once the fame gets to their dome piece lol It's hard to focus when you're given the world in a short period of time. I've always gotten mad at rappers that "sellout" and I still do lol But I can sometimes understand how hard it is to choose integrity over quick money.
