Thanks for the helpful comment. I haven't watched it yet but I was looking for a video to save to my tablet to learn it (if I have access to Internet I'll get distracted lol)
I actually use my ringfinger amd pinky when hitting 0 and 3rd fret. It's easier for me to do it like this because using my middle and ringfinger is a stretch I'm still working on
You'll maybe find it easier to change your entire finger positioning for the open. After the 7th fret, when you play the open, change to a position using your ring finger and pinkie on the high strings so you have more reach with your index to get to that 3rd fret. Changing to that position for the open is easiest since you don't have to worry about reaching any bass root notes until that 3rd fret. I hope that made at least some sense and didn't make you more confused lol.
Just wanted to drop by and say thank you everyone for all of the support and views. I hope it has at least helped you in some way or another on learning how to play the guitar or just this song in particular. Feel free to drop any questions and I will do my best to get back to you asap. Thank you and keep on rocking ! 🎸🤘
I have a fender CD -60SCE, I bought it at a local music store but I’m pretty sure you can buy it anywhere ? It plays really well when I tune down but I did change my string gauge that’s why
If it is difficult to tune to the tuning by ear, you can try buying a tuner. It will definitely be easier, I’ve tried tuning to it without one and it was annoying lol
What tuning is that drop B? Is that what it's called...the only problem with this is with a tuning that low you better have a good guitar already ain't going to sound right it's going to buzz like cra
Yeah it’s drop B tuning. It’s going to sound weird on regular guitar strings because the gauge is different. If you don’t want wobbly strings when you tune that low, I suggest buying a higher gauge string so it doesn’t give you that sound each time you strum the guitar.
@@Asuraai yeah it’ll definitely sound and feel better when you up the gauge since it’s a lower tuning. Depending on how low you go the thicker the strings will get but the good thing is that there are certain gauges where you can choose how thick you want to go
@@justanorma1guy Yeah I just have small hands. I can barely reach it using your technique but I have to really readjust my arm. My fix is just baring the third fret. It doesn’t sound as pretty but it doesn’t sound bad
@@mike5523 ahhh, yeah I understand what you’re saying with the sound. You can try playing the 8th fret of the G string(Drop B tuning) if you’re having a hard time playing the 3rd fret. Keep in mind, It will have a different pitch. If you don’t like how it sounds, just keep practicing on your hand/wrist placement when playing the 3rd fret and I’m confident you’ll be able to play it. I hope that helps.
Out of all the tutorials I've seen on YT this one is the closest to the original, thanks for the helpful video!
Mario4life thank you ! I’m glad it helped you out
Right!

2 years later and this is still helpful today! Thanks man.
What tuning is this song in?? I don’t think it’s standard maybe drop D?
this is 100 percent the best one ive watched, thanks so much man.
Thank you man ! I really appreciate it and have fun playing the song !
You deserve much more credit for this! You explained it in a such simple way thank you. I’m a beginner still trying lol
Thank you ! I appreciate that. don’t worry you’ll get it, just keep practicing !
You don't suck man, it's a hard transition. You did better than almost anyone else to try this song!
Thanks ! I try my best to be as good as I can with it lol
@@justanorma1guyjust a normal guy playing the song correct, well done dude!
Well done, one of the few people doing tutorials that got the tuning correct.
I have watched this in full like 6 time's. And for some reason haven't tried to play along. It intimidates me as a bluegrass picker.
This is a fantastic demo of this song.
Yay finally a good english vermillion lesson!
Thanks man, this was super awesome! Very beautiful song! Keep playing! You definitely earned a subscriber!
Im sure someone else has probably commented on this already, but that "D chord but with the fingers a little different" is D minor 🤙
Love this tutorial bro. And you deadass have the same guitar I do!
I can't play the 3rd fret B in the chorus so that it rings out but this video has given me some more confidence so thank you
Yeah neither could I at first and it’s frustrating but I got the hang of it and I know you can do it too just keep at it !
@@justanorma1guy Thank you, I will keep trying. I started focusing on Dead Memories instead but I wanna go back to this song

If you're lazy to tune that given keys, then D drop works too

Ay, we have the same acoustic!

I won't let this build up insideeee of meeee
I'm still finding that comftability, thank you
Give it some time, it’ll be annoying at first, but it’ll be cool to play once you get the hang of it !
not gonna lie this is a sick tutorial but its so hard to get the hang of

I have like an $800 breedlove it SHOULD be able to handle a tuning that low
@@theskinnieguinea Its not so much the guitar but the strings. a 2k guitar will still sound shit in drop b with cheap (and thin) strings.
At the start are you strumming all strings or just the b/f sharp/b
Just the B/F#B strings
@@justanorma1guy sweet cheers I'm just struggling to strum in drop b. It feels like the strings are grabbing too much if you know what I mean

what string gauge are you using?
I’m using 11 gauge I believe, I usually get gauges that won’t make my strings too wonky when I strum them so I usually go with 11.
@@justanorma1guy thx mate
I thought i was the only one who stretch first finger so far in the chorus… 6:59
It’s oddly satisfying doing it lol
B

I can't do that move :/
1-10 how hard is this
Stubbsy19 to me it’s a 5 just because of the finger positioning and getting the rhythm right in the post chorus section.
the only hard part is that one part with the 8, 7, 0, 3 just cuz the stretch, but its doable
