Your cemeteries and those headstones are just mesmerizing. Once I start one of your videos I am drawn to the screen. Such beauty, and such sorrow. I keep feeling like I will see one of my ancestors graves.
Thank you so much. I love that the custom in Ireland for some was to offer endearing words and some history for their beloved. Thank you so much for telling us specific history of these precious souls if you can. Means the world to me and I'm sure to their families. When I lost my Dad six years ago, I thought sadly for the ones that never knew him...I wish I had encouraged more wording to be engraved on his marker.❤
Stunning! What a delightful way to start my day. Thanks so very much, Sue. Enjoying this with my morning coffee. Wonderful work. Be well and be blessed.
I love how old these stones are and the engraving is still, for the most part, readable. There are not many stones here in the states that are even close to those ages, let alone still readable. Thank you for saying their names and telling us about them.
Thank you Sue for another wonderful walk. Interesting and a bit of a mystery, with the large Crypt. You had to have been itching to get a look inside. The story of William Griffiths, was a sad tale of sea life.
Greetings from Voorhees NJ USA. I love your videos and from Ireland is so breathtaking. My dad was from Co Louth and it was part of my growing up to visit cemeteries and pay respects and pray over them. Thank you for your channel and many blessings
Isn't that lovely, your daddy thought you well, as did mine, that's were it all started for me, as a small child visiting loved ones and getting told off for walking on graves and taking home the beautiful stones on the graves, only coloured pebbles but I thought they were jewels ❤🌹
@@SerenitySueGraveyards you are so beautiful and I love your channel. Traditions shouldn't be forgotten it should be memorable and learning experience. I love the headstone are so detailed about themselves and others. God bless you and your family.
Hi Sue, lovely cemetery with so many tombs, I'd love to peek inside that huge one! Too bad it's in such bad shape, I can't imagine the cost of repair for something that size. Great video, thank you!
The headstones had some beautiful words on. It's interesting to put faces to some of them. The fenced off area will need a lot of work to restore it and make it safe. Take care
Hi Sue! Thanks for another video! I've never seen a 'no entry' sign in a cemetery before. I lost count of how many interments there were in the Middleton grave. In Greek mythology Boreas was the god of (or personification of) the north wind. 🇦🇺 🇮🇪
@@SerenitySueGraveyards Yes, the crypt and some of the adjacent tombs have not stood the test of time very well. Restoring them would be as much an archaeological dig as anything else. William Griffiths 'closed his earthly voyage'. There's something similar on Sir John Franklin's monument in Hobart, as I recall. 🇦🇺 🇮🇪
Hiya Serenity Sue , The grave that has the 7 children intered must hold about 10 people all told . That's some size of a grave by anyone's standards 😯. Great video lovely cemetery , thank you so much x
That was a massive crypt. Would love to peek inside! Lol. Being a mariner has always been a treacherous career, especially long ago. Beautiful video,Sue.😊👍
Thank you Hans, so sad to see the crypt like that, it's huge, oh I'd of loved a peep inside too, Williams headstone had that gorgeous poem, said it all ❤
Such an interesting cemetery. It's obvious that those buried there came from great wealth. I hope the descendants of those, who are laid to rest in that massive crypt, will fund it's restoration. These hidden cemeteries are fascinating. They are an important chapter in Irish history, which tells it's own story. I'm simply obsessed with your channel. I no longer feel weird about speaking of my love for cemeteries.
Loved the headstone of William Griffith, I do hope they recovered the remains of the other men. It would be wonderful if they could restore the large crypt someday. Thank you for the walk through this beautiful cemetery. Take care and God Bless ❤
That was so interesting to see thank you Sue, the history is very sad but fascinating. It did look very dangerous that part fenced off, so tempting to peek though. So many young buried there. If my memory of Irish history is right, 1830's - 1850's was the potato famine, followed by a deadly Cholera epidemic in or around 1860's. This would explain some of the many death's of the time, it would have been a very hard life for everyone. Thank you Sue, lived seeing this, take care 💕🇦🇺
Oh ship went down 😢. Beautiful, I was thinking about the wooden fence maybe there was ground movement in that area hum to cause that kind of damage just guessing . Still lovely 🥰. Thank you Sue for taking all of us to these outstanding graveyard’s .
Another Great Video thank you very much for taking the time to show all of us the lost history of Ireland. keep up you guys Great works as what is said you die twice once you die and twice when your name is said for the last time. God Bless you guys as well
I think I missed this adventure. Nice to hear the history and such a sad broken whatever it is😢alot fenced in one spot.😮 chest tombs seemed popular , great walk enjoyed your video as always sweet Sue. Thanx for your time and remembering those long gone❤😊❤😊
Thank you very much Sue and GV, for another great walking tour. At first I wondered why the crypt was fenced off, but as you got closer, I could see why. Restoring that crypt will take a lot of time and money. I wonder if the family, if still alive, will contribute money toward the work. Hopefully, that fence will keep people away from it for safety reasons, and to help prevent mischief. I have to admit, a teeny tiny peep inside of the crypt would be rather fascinating. Thank you again guys, take care.
Beautiful crypts pretty sad the prosperity of the Stockford family (the mostly broken ones) that it has come to such ruin. That’s very sad. Love all the rails though and your adding the pictures. Mr Griffiths only 35 what a descriptive stone wow ! Felt like I drowned geesh
Ahh that was so sad about William and there's not much info about the ship or his crew, beautiful headstone for him, the crypt I hope they are going to repair it, it's a very large structure and I wasn't sure really what it was at first ❤
Catching up now as weather is nice I'm doing garden loads jobs need doing, enjoy the weather both, iv spotted a few graveyards from the train I try get to them
Hi Sue, I just watched the Prospect video and was thrilled to see in one graveyard so many table top monuments in pristine condition. The table top monument represents "Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God".. I found that out watching by a video on cemeteries in Ukraine. The underground mausoleum has a Moravian vibe. Have you visited Moravia Cemetery White Church, Dublin? You are appreciated!
I haven't visited there no but now I am going to Google it, seldom I find the table top tombs, chest tombs or Altar tombs in such great readable condition as I think it's to do with harsh weather and it beating right down on them, so it's always nice to find ones like these ❤🌹
@@SerenitySueGraveyards The Moravian mystique. As the earliest Protestants they are mysterious in death Cornelius Vanderbilt was Moravian and his family mausoleum in New York reminds me of the Prospect underground mausoleum. You are awesome for letting me know
I dont seem to be getting any notifications from u tube ive missed about three today . but that was a very intresting cemetry despite it being small but that tomb was huge its a shame its broken up like that.being a fairly new subscriber im still catching up on your older ones .the one i watched last night was from Cong.when we went there was a little shop and nearly everything inside was full of souvenirs from The Quiet Man.we went inside and there was a elderly lady inside but she was rubbing her hands in antisipation of making a sale she was asking us all sorts of things and she was lovley.when we went back a few years ago the place looked as if it had had a fire.just the shell was there.i felt so sad .i often think about her.sorry to rettle on.take care Sue.
I was there early last summer, I don't recall a shop like you described although there were several places with souvenirs of the quiet man, villagers were only too happy to tell us their stories of the film set etc which was so lovely and they are still excited to talk about it. I think youtube is broken I don't get notifications either or hours after the film goes up, it's so annoying. I'm hoping to go off this weekend a bit further afield to film. Hopefully I'll get a LIVE in too. Next video will be of the pet cemetery and powerscourt Gardens, with a little history thrown in ❤
Hello Sue very nice. Seems there alot of people who passed away young. So sad when men or woman loose they life while working, like the fishermen. Hope you have a great day.
Stunning Sue some beautiful headstones 🪦 very interesting 😊
I went to visit William Griffith and found more interesting headstones❤
Very interesting place. Not too big but alot of history. Thank you for the tour!
Thanks Toms, this is one I had filmed a few months ago, pity not much information on this area ❤

Ahh they are so beautiful even the ones I find hidden or abandoned still they draw me in ❤
This cemetery is so we’ll kept! Can you imagine the cost to fix that big crypt today!! Thanks for taking us on this great find! So interesting 🤔
