Thanks for posting this, was delighted to stumble across it. My mates and I travelled all the way from Devon to Cologne just to see them 'perform' 2 songs. Mind you, this was probably the first ever 'performance' of Enjoy The Silence, if only we knew then what an iconic track this would become.

The peak of DM. Amazing how catchy and simple the guitar riff is in this song and Personal Jesus and yet it works perfectly. Martin Gore wrote those riffs, I think. Very talented fellow! Still two of my favorites. 👏🏻🎸😎
It was Daniel Miller and Alan Wilder who insisted that the song should have an upbeat tempo. It would not have sounded like the final version if Martin Gore had refused. When Martin finally agreed, he was asked to have a riff, and he wanted to use a synthesizer. Flood/Wilder suggested the guitar. And, the rest is history. Listen to the demo. Then listen to the end result.

Le pire, c'est que dans cette video, ils ont filé l'Emulator I (1981, inutilisable car 2s de sample) à Wilder, là ou Fletch avait l'Emulator II (44 secondes, meilleure qualité).
