Jarre and Kraftwerk (and others of the genre) had already published most of their most iconic songs by this time, so not revolutionary in that sense, just a very very good instrumental song.
I am aware of that. And Martin is a genius in his own right. The band wanted to prove themselves after Vince left, so Alan wasn't involved in the recording of the album and wasn't made an official band member until afterwards. I know the story. However, can see he is giving it his all in those performances and of course later on he did so much more...
I used to listen to a cassette this live version was on, I bought in London in 1984. I brought It home to Miami and listened to it on my walkman every single day as I rode the school bus In the mornings to drown out the absolute horror that was an elementary school bus ride. I was 9. Haven't heard it since then, but haven't forgotten a millisecond of it. Thanks for sharing!
Still one of my fav Mode songs. I love this period best. Great drum sounds and there were no sequencers that could have simplified things for them. All played by hand.
I first heard this masterpiece by Executor (trance remix) in 1997. Only after TH-cam came out, I heard the original by DM. I cannot believe it was created in 1981! This is absolute best!
Didn't seem like Gahan was involved at all with this performance... maybe because no vocals needed? maybe he did that low background hum bassline toward the end of the track?
Jack Bhakta It´s just a small break for Gahan. In recent years they don´t use instrumental pieces for their shows anymore, instead they use songs sung by Martin Gore to give Gahan a small break.
I wonder why everyone always says Alan was such a genius when it was Martin alone who wrote and created this entire album...including this song. I'm not trying to put Alan down but give credit where it is truely due. Alan was a good musician, but Martin was the true creative genius of the band.
That is true. Martin has written such brilliant and touching songs. I do not doubt his genius. I love A Broken Frame. I have been re listening to that one a lot lately. They were wanting to prove themselves after Vince left the band so they didn't let Alan become an official part of the band until afterwards. However, Alan was the one with musical talent. He was classically trained. Even everyone else admitted it. Sure that is why everyone felt intimidated by him since he really knew how to play instruments, etc. No matter, he was an integral part of the band while he was with them and I will always love him and Depeche Mode.
Been listening to DM for 30 years and every time I get done listening to this track I have the same reaction... why does it have to be over? This could be an hour long track and it would be more than okay by me.
He is, even though he told us yesterday in Copenhagen that he doesn't care much for the old equipment at all, "I am not a synth nerd", he prefers to work on the computer, "a most powerful tool". By the wy, I love "Nothing to fear" :-)
On comprend mieux pourquoi Jean Michel Jarre admire Wilder et l a invité sur Electronica the time machine, c'est lui le plus remarquable ici, un morceau encore plus mélodieux en live que sur le vinyle. Sacrés DM
I was 17 years old and I brought this song to a party. My friends said: Oh this is only instrumental. We want to sing. I said: you don't need to, you only have to listen and enjoy this masterpiece
Fletcher playing the bassline, Alan playing the riff, Martin playing the melody and Dave having a break.
That is because rock blood flows through David's veins 💉
Fairlite cmi synth
@@ismaelbounab6571 it was a joke because he couldn’t afford a Fairlight CMI, so he wrote that on that little keyboard.
Yeh, Andy plays a lot on some of these older tracks. Wonder why people said he never contributed
And I am enjoying it all
My favourite DM instrumental. Lyrics is not needed. Music speaks itself. Touching without any word.
They have so many great instrumentals. Have you heard the instrumental of 'My Secret Garden'?
Imagine how revolutionary this must have sounded back in 1982, a symphony of synths!
I saw them play this live. Changed my life.
Jarre and Kraftwerk (and others of the genre) had already published most of their most iconic songs by this time, so not revolutionary in that sense, just a very very good instrumental song.
They were fantastic times, especially for music!
Best instrumental ever from DM!
Great Live show!..Alan Wilder's skilled performance is amazing. That's the Depeche Mode style and sound I love
I love it. Reminds me of high school days. Alan is a musical genius!
I am aware of that. And Martin is a genius in his own right. The band wanted to prove themselves after Vince left, so Alan wasn't involved in the recording of the album and wasn't made an official band member until afterwards. I know the story. Gracias,Master Gore!😍

Alan Wilder and his Beautiful Playing Hands.
согласен!!!100%
He is a hottie..but back in the day I was into the blonde moppie big time
i like him, but he's just decent to me, can't follow your going wild about him. xD
@@pravdaatlanta I agree they haven't been the same since he left.
❤❤❤❤
Alan Wilder was and still is the God on analogue synths and samplers.
Dan Nielsen I believe A Broken Frame isn't Alan's work but rather Martin's production
And being Absolutely Gorgeous while playing it.
Le_BGHM You are right. Alan helped out playing live or other gigs. Alan didn’t start actually working until construction of time again 😊.
Hé is still brilliant and active backscene, à genius
Эту мелодию можно слушать бесконечно !
this song is everything
Alan is the magician here! Great performance !
Love this track, the massive beat and all. A Broken Frame got it all started for me on DM and will always be my absolute favorit.
One of the best instrumental tracks of the 80's! Great fat analog sounds!!
Another one is doctor's cat -feel the drive instrumental
Fletch here clearly shows he can play and contribute.
was 1982....
Fletch used to play bass lines back then it looks like .
Was thinking the same thing!
What do you mean? Fletch always contributes! His middle name is "The Clapper."
he's basically that bassist no one really cares about
I used to listen to a cassette this live version was on, I bought in London in 1984. Fletch's face, he is so happy at the beginning of the video.
It’s because he can play a part of this song. In later years, he wasn’t able to follow the others. Too less skill I think. He was important.
The drummer is awesome. Camera loves him.
Ian Stoffberg ma vaffa
It's Doktor Avalanche.
LOL!
Masterpiece!! I love this Track!!
The best instrumental song by DM, in my opinion.
Agent Orange in my opinion, but this is certainly somewhere at the top
Как классно играют и милодия похожа на космическую -её можно в машине слушать или брейк денс танцевать
I'm 53 now, I was there when I was 16 with my cousin, I also was at an early OMD gig in 1981
I saw play the Dome in Brighton on this tour. Went with my mate's younger brother. Can't believe this was 37 years ago!
The greatest band in the world!
I agree!!!! Since that song nothing is comparable! Awesome and perfect
Bellisimo instrumental,de los magnificos Depeche Mode.
This is truly great.
Фантастическая вещь у DM!!! 👏🤝😊👍🌹

awesome instrumental song
Wilder papá!!
the best track in the world
I just love starting at Alan’s hands!
Best song of the show
Alan Wilder in 1982 and in this performance = YUMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!
Sonidos adelantados a su tiempo
One of my favorite instrumental DM songs. Very nostalgic, in a sense. ;) Ah, youth... where have thy gone off to?
If setlist.fm doesn't lie the last live performance of this song was set on the 14th December 1982 - nearly 33 years ago!
Very nice quality...
Thank's!
Un genio Martin L. Gore!!!
Love this track moe than most modern DM stuff......very special.
Znakomita rzecz, po prostu uwielbiam!
My favourite DM instrumental. Only some early B-sides could compare, like "The Great Outdoors" and such
Oberkorn is up there too
i am surprised there's a live video!
Didn't seem like Gahan was involved at all with this performance... maybe because no vocals needed? maybe he did that low background hum bassline toward the end of the track?

Basslines. He used to do that for... for a little while :D

tiggerlove33 Alan is a genius
Alan and Martin had two different works.
Been listening to DM for 30 years and every time I get done listening to this track I have the same reaction... why does it have to be over? This could be an hour long track and it would be more than okay by me.
very good..
magnifique !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was either 81,82,I was there, came out with no voice and sore hands, being a basildon boy,I still love them to this day.
He is, even though he told us yesterday in Copenhagen that he doesn't care much for the old equipment at all, "I am not a synth nerd", he prefers to work on the computer, "a most powerful tool". By the wy, I love "Nothing to fear" :-)
I just love that song
genialidad!!
Love the transitions
Fletch is actually playing ?! what?!
dubscape I think he plays the bass parts
Playing the bassline is not difficult but i must admit that you have to stay focus all the time and follow the beat...
this song reminds me Jean M. Jarre
Very nice song from DM, I love it!
Отлично!
Futureistic
De mis favoritas
I love this
Amazing retro song
Mira nada más que manera de tocar amor mío Alan 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍❤️❤️😍😍😍😍😍😍💋💋💋💋💋💋❤️❤️💋
Pure perfection......
Andrew playing the bassline, Wilder playing the riff, Gore(t) playing the melody and Gahan having a break.
Fun fact: On this tour Alan Wilder wasn’t still a oficial member of the band, he was a support musician.
The audience had no idea how lucky they were to hace heard that beautiful tune live in all its glory
❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍 un de mes albums préferé de DM , A BROKEN FRAME 😊😊😊😊
Me encanta esa canción
