I love that most videos of Depeche Mode are live performances. When your music is electronic, synthesized, and well digital it is so refreshing (and relieving!) that they are a live experience, full of emotion, sensitivity and a brash living, breathing immediate experience! Kudos for longevity too!

Depeche mode has that sound that is so singular and unique to them that it is definitely irreproducible. I still marvel at all those unique little sounds that they put in their music

I've lost count of how many DM songs and videos I've played and re-played since the 80s (plus live concerts!), and I have to say that in this excellent performance, the band seems to be totally in the groove with one another (and the crowd!), and Dave looks the most genuinely happy to be performing, that I've ever seen. Look at his face at ~2:40. The power, clarity and tone of his voice was record-studio good, IMO. And to see Andy dancing and clapping at 3:55 (and later), was just awesome. Martin was as locked in, and as rock-solid good as ever, too. As goofy as it sounds, the communal "happiness factor" I saw in this performance felt almost transcendent, or magical. It's the feeling you get when you go to a concert, and you leave knowing that you were there on a special night.
Der absolute Hammer. Live-Musik ist wirklich das geilste Ding auf der Welt. Hoffe, du kannst auch bald dabei sein, wenn sie beim nächsten Mal in der Nähe sind :)
I'm pretty certain they weren't "underrated" though. I lived in UK during the 80's through early 90's and when they toured most dates around UK and Europe sold out quickly. Also, they're quite popular in Japan during the 80's and some of their music were used for TV advertisements.
