Seems like the $40 was to set up a sort of alibi. OJ got delayed from getting to Nicole's because he had to follow through with McDonald's story because Kato asked to go along. He didn't even know where the closest McDonald's was.

I remember Kato Kaelin was misunderstood and became a character which was the media circus of the trial.
Other wise he was a really good witness to get the context of OJ’s relationship with Nicole and then the night of the murder what he really saw. For example he mentions that there was a bag that he saw when he was loading the limo for OJ and it did not show up when OJ came back from Chicago.

His hesitating style of speaking wasn't good optics for Marcia Clark or the Jury. A bored Jury that's been there for months isn't going to take to Kato the way the engaging manner of Cochran's team did. It's sad but performance matters in a jury trial, I think. Kato is a good dude and did his best as a young kid under extremely high pressure in 94.

Kato didn't want to be there after this murder. Especially because OJ said on several occasions "Kato, you know i was in the kitchen" and "Ask Kato, he was in the kitchen with me!" Kato seems like a really cool guy. I can totally see why Nicole liked him. In fact, he was too good of a guy to be hanging out with OJ Simpson, OJ seemed to be the biggest toxic narcissist on the planet who’s public image was a total facade, behind closed doors he was a monster with his wife/ex-wife. I hope OJ is now finally being held accountable, let the devil have him, let him burn for eternity.

Also, by Katos own testimony, he went out to dinner with the family and was at a Christmas dinner once. To act like it was completely foreign to eat with OJ is ridiculous. Kato knows the important stuff; you cut him off and missed important points we'll never get the chance to hear again. You put words in his mouth.

Kato seems like a good guy. The narrator is a little off on a couple of things. Weird when he said in the old days when somebody died you go over to the house and bring food. Hello that's not the old days. That's exactly what people do now when someone dies, If they have any clue or they have any class. Also asking Cato whether he got paid to be interviewed by the police and like oh what a bummer he wasn't paid. Again weird and selfish question. Two people were just slaughtered one of whom was his friend, Kato didn't even think about that. Also let the guest finish and get out his entire answer before you rush him along to the next question. You missed some good information by rushing him

that's a lie. Kato did sell out and was writing a book with a author called Marc Elliot who Kato lived with after the murders (strange how he always leaves this out of the narrative) and he has many tapes of their conversations. When Kato testified Marcia Clark had found out about this book deal and asked Kato about it on the stand and he denied it and she knew he was. Marc was writing their story as Kato denied it. anyways to make a longer story short the book didn't happen because of Kato's lawyers and Kato betrayed Marc but Marc did release the book with a new title detailing everything Kato said called.

Neither one of those is the reason. The prosecution blew it by not entering evidence through the detectives because they knew the jury hated the LAPD but they missed out on entering some critical evidence. Secondly, that jury was never going to vote to convict OJ no matter what. You could have had a video of the murder and they would have come up with some excuse for it.

I have to say I never thought Kato had any nefarious role in these murders. But, can someone please to explain to me WHY it is that he seemed like the extreme male equivalent of a dizzy blonde during the trial...seriously, he seemed like a moron. Then, suddenly, 5 or 10 years later he's gained an unusual amount of IQ points??? I'm SORRY, that just doesn't happen. Sure, you might gain knowledge over the years but not IQ points after adulthood. That's the one thing that makes me suspicious of Kato. Why the HELL was he playing the role of idiot surfer boy with low IQ during the trial but SINCE then he's seemed quite together and intelligent. I have to say, I've often wondered if these murders ever really happened at all. The circus of it all. The fact that no sane jury would have ever found OJ innocent, the fact of what happened to OJ later after the Vegas incident, how many BILLIONS of dollars were made by all the key players...all of the attorneys for both sides, many of the witnesses and OJ himself. It all STINKS to high heaven. Sorry, but it DOES.
