I totally agree with you. Millions of people who worship Nirvana fail to understand that the whole attitude behind Nirvana's music is to sneer at the "popularity bandwagon," as you fittingly call it. Kurt would have likely preferred being hated to being idolized in the way that so many do. Nirvana was a MENACE to popular culture, much as the ICP are today.
