I can't believe that with all this technology no one's has dare to make a cd of Kurt Cobain in Nirvana with all the recording sessions? Beatles did it and so many ppl, the world deserve to hear his voice and forever be remembered. But then again I'm just a fan.
Because almost everything is already available on bootlegs and most of what was left took a long time to prepare, clean up, produce and release as the "With The Lights Out" boxset. The Beatles stuff on Anthology and such was properly recorded radio, studio material back when bootlegs didn't exist or had horrid quality.

The interesting thing about this VPRO session is the total iconic photo of Kurt with the acoustic guitar looking like an angel while being obviously (from knowing the story and hearing peoples takes who were there) dope sick… fortunately for the show later that night it’s pretty easy to scor3 in Amsterdam.
It's funny. You could never really pinpoint when someone is high if they're not obvious about being high, nodding out, drooling, slurring words, etcetera. If they're using a constant maintenance amount, it's almost impossible to tell unless you really know (pupils, redness). However, when the moment they're clean and don't have anything in their system, you can instantly tell. It's always an "OH there you are!!" feeling as you realize you haven't seen them totally clean in ages. Sad stuff. Cobain is very clearly sober in these shots.

He tells a terrifying story about Kurt being so wasted he took like 3hours to crawl across the floor to open a door and Mark and co thought he was dead. Kurt overdosed a lot of times. He overdosed in NYC in 1993 the morning of the Roseland Show and later did press junkets and that night played an In Utero teaser set
About 12 hours before this, Kurt & Courtney did heroin together for the first time. He's had next to no sleep. Later the same day, Nirvana play The Paradiso. Kurt and Courtney's paths cross two nights earlier (23rd Nov) Nirvana and Hole sharing the bill in Ghent... Nirvana left for Amsterdam and Hole for Nijmegen. After Hole's gig on the 24th, Courtney paid Nathalie Delisse 150 guilders to drive her 1hr 30m to Amsterdam in Delisse's Citroen 2CV to be with Kurt. They got high etc.... and Courtney left that morning on a train for France to continue Hole's European tour. This is also when Frances was conceived, being born 9 months later.

He looks like a different person. Then, at 11:22 and even closer, 11:37 - Dave Grohl is wAtChing Kurt, with a clear expression of a sad clown. At 15:00 - Kurt looks a lot like his daughter, Frances Bean. _Would love to see and hear all of this entire session._
They rented almost everything they played that day. Cobain joked in his bio that he didn't like the pictures because he was using such high tech equipment with the acoustic. He had a alot of embarrassment about being seen as one of those "old unplugged washed up musicians" like Eric Clapton even though he was interested and experienced with the acoustic for jamming. He said in the same bio he said wouldn't do "unplugged" on MTV cause it was pitiful looking for real. He must have changed his mind completely cause he did it. Rented his guitar that night too. An already at the time a impossibly rare Martin electric D-18E with knobs and a electric guitar pickup (that really didnt work and had a bypassed bartolini sound hole pickup doing everything) He decided to buy it after the show. This takamine may still be at the studio it was rented at.

Where Did You Sleep Last Night? With that bass tone, kind of shitty mic quality, and the loud and clear drums with that thingy guitar makes it sound like a deep western song.
Maybe this session sucked at that moment, but I think it was a special session after all. The weird thing is that they play a really good show at De Paradiso in Amsterdam that same day.
i remember this night, we were trying to ride to the studio, kids on bikes, close, FM radio on, it was LIVE, Jan Douwe Kroeske, he did try to do his lyrics, lol, remember it, we hated him on TV, on Radio he was good. We, die hard fans, their first single release was my father's best song by Shocking Blue, NOT venus, i only knew before it after searches in his old 78 records, one year before the great cover. This Radio show on TH-cam, EPIC !!! this was my Youth, Thanks !!!!
