Nirvana played a famous VPRO session in 1991 that was released on various bootlegs. - เพลง
Love to see how Kurt was even in 1991, tinkering with the arrangement of "Where did you sleep last night"...
It goes back even further , to the late 80's. He and Kris played on Mark Logan's solo album The Winding Sheet and Kurt played guitar on his cover of Where Did You Sleep Last Night.
@@moreton77mansley24 They were called The Jury for a short time. Kurt sings lead on another Leadbelly song from that session called "Ain't it a Shame" The Winding Sheet was in the very beginning the pairing of the two but it didn't work out because Mark didn't feel capable yet and thought Kurt was a better singer. Mark Lanegans early autobiography adds some details to these sessions. It's def worth a read--or a listen in Lanegans own voice.
@@moreton77mansley24 Down in the Dark is such an amazing tune from that album. The two voices together...it would have been awesome to have a couple albums.
@@jerahmaya77 Ain't it s Shame is great.
since 1989
First time hearing Here She Comes Now acoustically and WOW. He really was a talented dude. RIP Kurt.
rip my ass we need that lil mofo wake all tf up
lol
So bluesy where did you sleep is. So much soul, he blended punk rock and traditional folk. How fucking innovative. 2 genres who don't fit in the respective category of 90's yet bring punk and folk back. Kurt was something else man. Fuck
We just gonna ignore how incredible to this version of Where Did You Sleep Last Night? is???
This about the Pines of perinton
apparently you arnt
Damn this version is unbelievable. Can't believe I never heard this before
No we aren’t. Speaks for yourself.

Info
-----------------------
-The performance took place in Jingle Production Room 2.
-The session was a co-production between the Dutch radio stations VPRO and VARA, recorded for their shows Nozems-a-GoGo and Twee Meter De Lucht In, respectively.
-The band reportedly played/jammed for about three hours. Since the studio crew did not know when the songs started, they recorded intermittently throughout the session.
-The band was asked to play "Polly" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit," but Kurt didn't want to.
-Kurt reportedly arrived at the studio later than Krist and Dave and kept walking in and out of the studio during the session.
-The jam featured Dave on guitar and vocals by himself.
-At the end of the session, after Kurt and Dave ran away, Krist said, "We know when we fuck up," and left.
-Picture is from the session
-Later in the day they also performed at the Paradiso

1:03 Where Did You Sleep Last Night
6:32 Here She Comes Now
12:10 Horrified
Virginia sounds like about dave grohl mom.Her name is virginia and she is from virginia.
David Gurung Most likely
@@YouAreNotThisBody also she is virgin

I love that they were asked to play certain songs and just told them “we okay what we want” and played some nirvana songs probably no one had heard at this point ever before that never made it onto a main record and a cover
Here she comes now is a cover too there's a fuller version on the with the lights out box set
Well Here She Comes Now is also a cover, it’s a Velvet Underground song, but yes I totally agree
Man that voice in “HORRIFIED”. He can play just about damn anything and when he opens his mouth, it’s instantly sick and iconic.
Kurt never leaves my spirit
He never leaves my Teen Spirit
Ditto
Well said
Kurt IS my Teen Spirit
Because Kurt is us.......trippy ain't it.
About 12 hours before this, Kurt & Courtney did heroin together for the first time. He's had next to no sleep. Later the same day, Nirvana play The Paradiso.
Kurt and Courtney's paths cross two nights earlier (23rd Nov) Nirvana and Hole sharing the bill in Ghent... Nirvana left for Amsterdam and Hole for Nijmegen. After Hole's gig on the 24th, Courtney paid Nathalie Delisse 150 guilders to drive her 1hr 30m to Amsterdam in Delisse's Citroen 2CV to be with Kurt. They got high etc.... and Courtney left that morning on a train for France to continue Hole's European tour.
This is also when Frances was conceived, being born 9 months later.
They met for the first time two days before this?
@@LucasAlvesMusic Nah, they first met in 1989. They saw each other quite a few times before this... Even played gigs on the same bill in October of '91.
@@dirkdarwin2571 No, a user "American spy fox" found they met in 1991. th-cam.com/video/Y6_N6r95hQs/w-d-xo.html&ts&ab_channel=AmericanSpyFox
@@jmtrainz2582 There's a photo of Courtney at a Nirvana gig in 89.
Dirk Dickens Doesn’t mean they met.
"we play what we want" Fuck yeah
The interesting thing about this VPRO session is the total iconic photo of Kurt with the acoustic guitar looking like an angel while being obviously (from knowing the story and hearing peoples takes who were there) dope sick… fortunately for the show later that night it’s pretty easy to scor3 in Amsterdam.
That he showed up dope sick says alot about him
It's funny. You could never really pinpoint when someone is high if they're not obvious about being high, nodding out, drooling, slurring words, etcetera. If they're using a constant maintenance amount, it's almost impossible to tell unless you really know (pupils, redness). However, when the moment they're clean and don't have anything in their system, you can instantly tell. It's always an "OH there you are!!" feeling as you realize you haven't seen them totally clean in ages. Sad stuff. Cobain is very clearly sober in these shots.
@@VanishedPNW very true. You get used to playing it off. I recently listened to mark lanegans autobiography “Sing Backwards and Weep”… that dude was crazy and all those guys really pushed things. He tells a terrifying story about Kurt being so wasted he took like 3hours to crawl across the floor to open a door and Mark and co thought he was dead. Kurt overdosed a lot of times. He overdosed in NYC in 1993 the morning of the Roseland Show and later did press junkets and that night played an In Utero teaser set
"Horrified" is a very unique song
Where Did You Sleep Last Night- Kurt's amazing voice. Polished to perfection in Unplugged NY after Dave was muted.
Wish Foo Fighters did the same
this is the highest quality version I could ever find!
What say...this is Nirvana!!!
Great band,great performance!

For real
I heard that recording of here she comes now a million times many years ago. I had no idea it was taken from a radio session. It reminds me of what I was thinking while I listened to it. And who I was discussing it with. And what they had to say about it.
Me neither. It still sounds awesome.
Hey, it’s me….the guy you were talking to! Surprise! 🪵
@@shucksful I meant girlfriends I had as a kid and bandmates more than anything, really. 25 to 30 years ago
Horrified... great jam man! got the bass cover finally for that song, Krist deseved it ty sir!
i'ts Kurt on bass (in Horrified)
The world was so much better when Kurt was around. Let's be real. Greatest loss for all of generation x
En quoi était il meilleur ?
This is beautiful holy shit, thank you for posting
An acoustic teen spirit would sound kinda funny
There's a live acoustic version that Kurt played on The Muddy Banks of the Wishkah.
@@ThePROMusikGroupNot sure if you're joking, but I can't find it.
@@ThePROMusikGroup Yup. I actually don't mind the acoustic version. He made it sound quite haunting
You may listen the cover made by the godmother of punk: Patty Smith
The *candid photography* in this studio session really catches some interesting, vulnerable shots. For instance, 5:22 shows a shapeshifted Kurt, an angle of him almost unrecognizable. He looks like a different person. Then, at 11:22 and even closer, 11:37 - Dave Grohl is wAtChing Kurt, with a clear expression of a sad clown. At 15:00 - Kurt looks a lot like his daughter, Frances Bean.
_Would love to see and hear all of this entire session._
It’s kinda sad that they only released 3 songs like cmon just fucking release all of them
This is cool. I've heard all these individually, but not connected together. Thanks for putting this up!
Thats the best song dave ever did
Like wow
Have u ever heard of the Foo Fighters?
@@FrostGamingCSGO Do you know what irony is?
Even knowing the foo fighters I agree
The Foo Fighters (for the past 10 years anyway) SUCK.
@@all_invite_0hm They do
10:32 Sounds so good, jamming !!!
This is the best version of horrified i have ever found
This version of WDYSLN has an incredible southern Gothic feel to it.
I can't believe that with all this technology no one's has dare to make a cd of Kurt Cobain in Nirvana with all the recording sessions? Beatles did it and so many ppl, the world deserve to hear his voice and forever be remembered. But then again I'm just a fan.
Because almost everything is already available on bootlegs and most of what was left took a long time to prepare, clean up, produce and release as the "With The Lights Out" boxset. The Beatles stuff on Anthology and such was properly recorded radio, studio material back when bootlegs didn't exist or had horrid quality.
beautiful
It's a really wonderful 🎵 session !
👰🏻 💝
It all makes sense now. RIP Cobain. The King 👑 of Rock 🎸
I'll never forget being at Castaic Lake California, and watching a surprise appearance by Kurt sat on a humble chair, performing the Leadbelly song. For a second I refused to even believe it was him, but it was. Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, etc... played that night. There's video of it on here somewhere.
Beautiful...
What the hell was that with Dave Grohl I was not ready. It’s really good-
This is a little gem of a recording. Was that Kurt singing in vibrato? Haunting.
Yes that was! His vocals eventually became shredded after nonstop touring So he most likely lost the ability to do that
@@Birtheater4545 Don't know anything about singing, can you explain to me what is special about vibrato and in which song he is doing it?
@@melboro8745 in Where Did You Sleep Last Night his voice does a sort of wobbly things, it's not the craziest of techniques but for Kurt Cobain this is something special.
@@melboro8745like here when he sing "shiver" 3:30
Its crazy how he's not even a particularly skilled singer but his voice is just so fucking good. Still never get tired of it.
Its insane this only has 19K hits.
Sean Wayburn 47k now
4:03 is incredible ... rip Kurt ...
this version of 'here she comes now' makes my stomach curl
we miss you Kurt.
Fuck man, those screams send goosebumps all over my body
Tha's why i love Kurt
OMG! I can't believe all the recordings of Kurt I keep stumbling across that I've never heard before!
Jesus *_CHRIST!_*
When did he ever find time to shoot heroin? 😮
f you 😘
If you dose heroin right, you're pretty euphoric and have a lot more focus than usual. It's not like you can't do anything when you do it
@@LardLadLoserwhere did you found that info? people can trust you keep it in your mind. there's no way to use heroin properly
At around 11:29 you can hear kurt say "isn't that three?" And dave or krist says something like "yeah, six songs" if you listen on a better quality version. This just makes me think that the Opinion we hear on montage of heck is from this very session, if I heard correctly.
Might be, dangerously close ! For the ones who don’t see this Opinion bit, th-cam.com/video/Ecvcbzgcgr8/w-d-xo.html
Awesome share Shaun!!!
Also rare that Dutch radio stations play rock/metal music in the first place
Gracias por subir esto!!!
I just have to say.. how perfect Dave’s timing is… among other perfection of course
so that was the same day they played in Amsterdam
Thanks, I thought this was pretty cool hearing songs they rarely play!
Splendide, Dave very good
Something about Kurtz voice is existential?
Thanks Man!!! :)) I feel and love him! Peace @ all.... ... .. . :-)
Maybe this session sucked at that moment, but I think it was a special session after all. The weird thing is that they play a really good show at De Paradiso in Amsterdam that same day.
Clawfist23 Probably because they used this as a sort of warm-up
Je vous avais déjà vu comme cela et superbes, magnifique!!!
Uffff, qué maravilla!!!!
Amazing
So these are the real pictures!?
Cuz I've always loved the pictures of the guys with the Warwick Dolphin bass as I'm a huge Warwick fan and I've owned 4. :D
Majic Freeman yeah these are all photos from the session
No this pics are from IN UTERO Rehearsals.

i like how he says it, sounds like he could be a voice actor
if i knew they wouldve came to hilversum I wouldve gotten born 9 years earlier.

I was born in Virginia too Portsmouth actually
Same here!
Because Dave Grohl was born in Virginia, quite a few radio stations played “Smells Like Teen Spirit” before “Nevermind” was released.
