hey yea there are so many cuban sandwiches but in my opinion these are the best and the most diverse for the video. Sergio and La Carreta is very traditional :)
I've been getting Cuban sandwiches every weekend now and nothing has topped Sedano's supermarket Cuban sandwich at lunch time 12-1pm the pork is so fresh, I haven't tried the ones mentioned in this video but I looked em up on yelp and none at 5 stars
Cuban sandwiches in Miami aren't quit right. I prefer the original from Tampa. The cuban sandwich in Tampa was a staple of the city before Miami had a cuban population. Many decades later when Cubans came to Miami the new Miami version kinda devolved from the authentic version.
Next time you're in Coral Way you need to go by Latin America it's a Cuban sandwich icon been there as long as I can remember and I grew up in in South Florida give it a try post a video and let me know what you think
This is music to my ears! Or is art for my eyes? Sarusi is the best! Oh my goodness, how I miss them! I've never had their Cuban but I used to eat their Sarusi Bistec or Churrasco sandwiches often. I'm drooling over here!
THANKS FOR SHARING. TRIPOSSO SHOULD BE NO WHERE NEAR RECOMMENDING CUBAN SANDWICHES. WHAT A JOKE. A TRADITIONAL CUBAN SANDWICH IS NOT BE BE MESSED WITH, CUBAN BREAD, ROASTED PORK (NOT PULLED) HAM, MUSTARD, PICKLES, SWISS CHEESE (NOT MONTERREY JACK) AND A NICE AND HOT PRESS . GREAT VID AS ALWAYS.
@@darrtrubb that restaurant in Miami goes all the way back to 1971! Columbia in Ybor City was founded in 1905. There were older restaurants in Tampa going back to the 1880s but they went out of business in the 1960s-1980s.
They put salami on their Cuban sandwiches in Tampa because they’re mixed with Italians. The Cuban sandwiches in Tampa aren’t considered True Cuban sandwiches in that sense.
@@darrtrubb no, the Cuban sandwich got popular in Tampa. The first version of the Cuban sandwich was made by the Tainos in Cuba. They made roasted pork sandwiches when the Spaniards brought flour & pork to Cuba. The first Cuban immigrants brought a version of it to Key west. As they migrated north in search of jobs they arrived at the cigar factories in Tampa. They intermingled with the German & Italian immigrants. That’s how the Cuban sandwich ended up with Swiss cheese, salami, & pickles. The Cubans in Miami don’t have the Italian influence, therefore do not put salami in their Cubanos.
I'm sure to get hate and disagreements but, the last Two sandwiches are not Cubans, they're pork sandwiches (pan con lechon). Yes I get that ham is pork, but it has a different texture and a different taste.
in the first, which is the only thing in this vid thats even close to a cuban sandwich... the rest may be sandwiches made by cubans but thats not the same at all.
Genoa salami was introduced by the Italians in Ybor city. As the Cubans and Italians mixed cultures the Salami was introduced into the sandwich. That’s why the Cubans in Miami don’t use it, nor mayo.
The fact that panini bread is on the thumbnail proves that Miami has absolutely no idea what an actual Cuban sandwich is. If you want to call it the Miami sandwich that’s fine, but don’t call it a Cuban unless it’s made in Tampa, and not from a tourist trap that puts onions and tomato on it, Try Aguila in Tampa, or from La Segunda and tell me that those aren’t what an actual Cuban sandwich is
Sorry to see the bastardization of true Cuban sandwiches but I guess it is just inevitable when the old folks die off. I once got served Steak-ums and Manwich sauce as Ropa Vieja.
Sarusi was the first place I ate at in 1972 when I moved to Miami. A loving family place that must have been just like Cuba. It broke my heart to think that they would try to change the noble Cuban sandwich.
Been to Miami for a wedding went to a few Miami/Cuban restaurants unfortunately you are greeted with a not so warm reception from the Cuban locals. I'm of Greek descent so no hate love all just saying from experience.
I know I'm late to the party but seriously??? All these places that claim to make "their versions" of Cuban sandwiches are just making sandwiches. They are NOT Cuban sandwiches! Anyone who says "their version" is NOT Cuban, they're only riding the coattails of OUR culture. Once you change something so much that it no longer resembles the original version, CALL IT SOMETHING ELSE!

When pronouncing Versailles, the s is silent. Also, Cuban coffee has a stronger flavor, not more caffeine. Dark roasts actually have less caffeine. Things a foodie and traveler should know.

I love the *Medianoche* sandwich! Like the Cuban sandwich... but the bread reminds me of Challah or Brioche bread. Yummy! ♥
that mustard on the sandwish at about 4:00 looks like the aji chombo sauce we use in Panama. ( which uses mustard seed in it)

If it doesn't have Cuban bread then it's just another sub sandwich
So the bread is all that matters? What type of mustard should go on a cuban?
@@batman4452 American yellow mustard of course! Dijon is for a chicken tarragon cream.
The long sandwich which seems good! Only this is the movie which feels like going to Miami, isn't it?
yes it is
CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH....CRUNCH!!!!!

You should have tried the Pan con Lechon at "La Carreta", there's nothing like It! That is to me, my favorite Cuban of sandwiches!!!

Versailles is to me the original Cuban sandwich!! Tampa didn't hold a candle to it!!!
Versailles????? Original???? Sorry, but the Cuban sandwich was born in Tampa, so you know, that is the definition of “original”.

Miami has a huge amount of cuban culture, but the best cuban sandwiches are in Tampa. No sweet glaze or sauces, mayo, none of that is proper. :)

you need to go to Puerto sagua on the beach by far the best Cuban restaurant in Miami and definitely the best Cuban sandwich.
Sergio's is the best.

It's sick that we need to go in Miami to enjoy Cuban meals.
I get a Cubano sandwich like 5 years ago at a French restaurant in Midtown Manhattan NY and the experience was unique btw I’m Cuban 🇨🇺
