No helicopter was supposed to be flying through such a fog in a mountain region in the middle of nowhere, it is a freak accident due to irresponsibility of pilot and flight planner. Would you decide to take a perilous road through rough country in heavy fog if you needed to attend a pr meeting?

another technological achievement has the ability to send a focused light beam onto an object from high altitude so to cause that object to melt, break apart, or burst into fire. and the impressive thing about it is that if you condition the energy beam properly, it will leave no burn mark once it impacts its target. this was first tested in hawaii some months ago. so highly feasible that the helicopter's tail was target and surgically cut/removed so to cause the crash.

incapacitating an entire machine can be done with the right electronic targeting system..especially from high altitude. such an apparatus can shut down the machine's ability to transmit, can guide the machine where you want it, disorienting its instruments, or taking over full access. add proper weather conditions and viola...the perfect opportunity/storm can be created with no accountability for anyone.
