And also, is there a set amount of available cards in all the game or will there always be new ones coming out that you have to be familiar with? I'm honestly just curious, thanks for answering.

    • @mrwhiteboy1350

I recently went to a regionals tournament, if you want to win you will need to read your opponents cards because they will sometimes say it does something when it actually doesnt and they expect you to just go along with it, especially if they see that youre a nervous or antisocial person , ruining the momentum can cause your opponent to do missplays, new cards come out so every set can change the meta. The game now is if the deck doesn't negate everything/flood the field or OTK then the deck isn't worth playing. 2nd place for the regional qualifier literally bought his cards online last minute and it was his first time playing in an event.

Well, I play Machina... But also I love Deskbot archetype, so, yesterday, I made a weird Machina-Deskbot Deck.
If you don't know, Machina Citadel is the Machina Deck's Boss monster, and it can be Special Summoned from your Graveyard if an Earth Machine Monster is destroyed.
Well, what happened was... After I sent my Machina Citadel to the Graveyard, in his turn, my opponent uses Monster Reborn and revives my Citadel on his side of the field, Machina Citadel effect also says that you can pick 1 machine on your side of the field (Including himself), and if you do, you destroy it, but also destroys all the opponent monsters with same attack or more from the destroyed monster on your field (Citadel has 3000 ATK, and only 2 Machina Monsters are stronger than it, Machina Force and Machina Ruinforce, I don't had Ruinforce so I could summon it and Machina Force is one of the worst cards in all Yu-Gi-Oh!).
somehow, I could keep myself until I had a Metalcruncher and another Citadel on my side of the field (I play only 2 Citadels), but he had 2 zombies and my other citadel (The dude was playing Eldilch), then the dude tried to increase the stats of one of the monsters, if he increase those stats, I couldn't do nothing agaisnt that monster, so I saw forced to chain my Citadel effect, destroying my Metalcruncher so I can destroy the 2 zombie monsters, I was expecting him to chain Citadel, but he didn't, so he losed his zombies and I my metalcruncher, then he used his Citadel efect, leaving both of us without monsters, luckily, I had a Deskbot 003 on my hand and on my turn I made a Deskbot field so I could win the duel.

gosh I used to love playing this game when I was a preteen but I had a cheat code buddy.. I would hang with this guy on the low that was completely different than all my other friends and nobody knew I played Yu-Gi-Oh and even went to tournaments.. Well he had dyslexia among many other things and couldn't read.. but he literally knew what every single card did and if he didn't all I had to do is read it to him one time and then he did.. it made learning the game so much easier and so much more enjoyable. . I've always miss the days of playing Yu-Gi-Oh, ever since I sold my deck for $300 for a bag of pot when I was like 12 I've never played again :/.. plus I remember them changing some rules and messing some things up.. I used to have three marauding captains and a yata garasu ,, I can't remember why but I know that became against the rules.. idk if that means anything to anyone but if you do yk I was the man lol

Even when you read, you still can't use it. Me trying to summon one fusion monster by using card that says to ignore summoning conditions and it not work but using another card that says same thing and it does work.

Problem is that in my card shop they don't let you read you must either watch them combo or read and miss timing for you to play because you must already know the cards

but then the card’s description is like: tribute 2 monsters to summon this monster, however this monster can’t be summoned unless you tribute 3 monsters

It's a good habit to get into reading your cards because what ur opponent says a card can do might differ from what the card actually can do. Also you should always read a card to recognize game state because there are some instances where cards actually can't use their effects due to something taking place in the game. For example one time I was playing online, there was a Yugioh Light Dragon monster on the field and he had a card in his hand that could special summoned I think if he had a light dragon monster already on the field, well Lair of Darkness was on the field, and he would message me saying he thought edopro was glitching or something and he scooped, but when I looked at the recording I read the card in his hand and couldn't figure it out til' I remembered that Lair turns all monsters into Dark lol. So yes always be aware of what's taking place and always know what the text of cards say especially if any requirements they may or may not have.
