I gotta agree, and the annoying thing is the over reliance of mystery box stuff which spans across different platforms. We were introduced to the Master of Masters in…2017, and it’s almost 2025. How much longer do we have to ride the mystery train of who he is, and the other stories connected to 4. I love KH and it’s obvious deep and complex lore, but to add more and more layers but not resolve them…because nothing comes out is exhausting. You got a point - we can only do so much speculating. Year and year. Something has to give and it’s obvious stuff is going on with the company.
The MoM was technically introduced in 2013 in Kingdom Hearts X[Chi] too, which makes it even more insane to think about. By the time KH4 comes out, the MoM will have been a part of the series for at least half of its runtime.
I think what bothers me the most nowadays about KH is a mobile title holding back a big triple A game. There is literally no franchise in the world besides KH that a small mobile title would hold back the next big entry in the series, it is just completely wrong in so many ways and kills the hype for KH......
Everyone just needs to chill out and let em cook. I’m an OG die hard kh fan since 2003 and if there’s one thing kh taught me, its patience. As frustrating as it may be, everyone just needs to chill out and let em do their thing. KH4 is in development, that’s all we need to know. Quit rushing them, it’s really getting annoying. We live in an age where we expect everything RIGHT NOW, that’s not how real life works. That’s how hi speed internet and fast food works, that’s it. Kh3 broke Tetsuya spiritually, you can even read about it. This shit isn’t easy, you guys don’t have a clue how much work it takes to make a game like that, even I don’t. I mostly try to focus on other things to keep me busy as I desperately wait for kingdom hearts 4 but I can understand how mentally draining this hype cycle is and this comes from kinda new comer
At this point I fear when KH4 comes out I won’t care. Which is a tragedy because KH3’s story ended on such a powerful high note and we all TRULY want more.

I feel like the difference comes from the expectation. KH3 was supposed to be a game of promised answers, or at least that how I remember it being toted, and admittedly, it left more questions than it gave answers. The whole plot of KH3 revolves around this mysterious box and prior knowledge of a mobile games plot that had entire too much filler, and the end answer to Xehanort was fairly disappointing to quite a few people as well (At least what we directly saw in Kh3, as far as I'm aware, not so much with the mobile game, not to mention it was something people had guessed would be the reveal twist for years entirely based off of the Xehanort meme of everyone being Xehanort.) Tl;dr, we fell for the hype once expecting answers and got a lot more questions, this time a lot of people feel like we aren't getting any real answers, just more retcons and questions.
bear with me with this rant but its true and its sad but like idk what anyone expected at this point. Whats sad, is this is the first game cycle i haven't been religiously following I bought whole consoles to follow this series and its sad this is what has become of such a great collaboration. Idk who is responsible but it really seems like this franchise has no direction. It seems like every new entry is announced early because it is built on good ideas but the execution is always lacking. idk how to explain it, but its sad. kingdom hearts was my favorite video game franchise for years but at this point i just stopped caring. I wonder if Square Enix is keeping quiet on KH4 because of what happened with KH3, where some of the major plot points were spoiled. But I wouldn't be surprised if that's not the case lol
It's always good to look forward to something but the problem with hype and not hearing any news, fans start thinking what's going to happen so when it doesn't happen the way the fans thought it would (case in point KH3) fans get disappointed
If I’m gonna be honest, I don’t know if I want Square-Enix to take their time developing KH4 & Missing Link anymore. Because not only do I find their style of communication towards the KH fans (or lack thereof) unfairly crude, but it also makes the company and (especially) the developers look like a bunch of Neglectful cowards. Sorry if I seem rude, I just wanna express my frustration, and I also wish the KH fans aren’t being disrespected like they never existed or something.
honestly, KH isn't the only series by sqaure where the communication is downright apauling, it's only affected KH now but some other series it's been like this for years. Being a Dragon Quest fan in the west is like an abusive relationship where sometimes they don't even come out of the west or you have new IPs that are fun but are hardly given so much airtime they flop and not get the appreciation then they should deserve. you even have someone like yoko taro whom after getting nier automata to be widely recieved has only had a remake of replicant and some lesser quailty games and it's like why have they not gone full out with taro and only THIS YEAR they gave him someting to work on
