Tiffany, I know more than I want to know about being abused. The love of my life, the only man I have ever loved and been married to for 38 years, decided he wanted to date while married. He went online and started dating up a storm without my consent or knowledge. That old Knucklehead does not even "have it like that" in the love department if you know what I mean. Well, to make a long story short and sweet, he moved in with one of the side-chicks in Georgia and I am here in California living my life like it is Golden. Amazing. I am out of an abusive relationship and I told him, "When leave you I'm going to try van life and travel all over" ... well my divorce is finalized... YAY! I love living alone for first time in 24 years and I will NEVER go back. Just completed my first solo travel and LOVED EVERY BIT OF IT! My next one is to Jamaica for my 50th! So I totally feel you on that FREEDOM... it's PRICELESS! But I have no idea WHERE to start. I have NEVER been camping and the thought of sleeping on the grass or dirt freaks me out. What would you suggested to someone like me, in trying out van life for the first time? Perhaps a parking lot or at a friends driveway first? TFS Be Blessed

Tiffany I spent 30 days in Ajijic/Lake Chapala, Mexico on a missionary trip. Stayed at the Hotel Casea Blanca. The owner was nice enough to allow me to wash my clothes in the hotel's laundry room. I only drank bottled water, but washing my clothes in the water did not present me with any health issues whatsoever. My clothes were dried in the dryer. It was not a fear that was easy to overcome, but overcome it the Lord blessed me to do and kept me safe and without any health issues the entire trip. I ate food from the local street vendors; enjoyed hanging out at the town's plaza chatting with the locals and daily consumed Mexican guava paletas (so good)!.
