MDB has proved you can win with just about anything in any game. I've seen guy been one of the Gen 3 games with just a mudkip because he can learn all the HMs needed. Heck I watched a guy beat Yellow with a Koffing and won
Wow, I’m honored to have found this channel before it’s inevitable explosion of subscribers. Every video you put out is quality, I mean I went from watching your Halo video, to Arkham, and now this... You have both an amazing taste of game selection, and an awesome talent at being a Content Provider. Please, keep doing what you do!
I'll be honest about this video this isn't just a challenge run, this is single handley a walk through for me it's straight to the point on the story and how you progress, something I've never figured out with gen 1 compared to other pokemon games played in the past, great video seriously i feel like an expert at gen 1 now
Yes, yes you definitely can. Every concern about stats or typing are defeated by leveling. I'm tempted enough to say, without seeing the video yet, that as long as you hit every trainer along the way, even if you ran from the majority (or all) of the wild battles, you'd be so overleveled at basically every point that your only concern, at all, would be moveset selection in terms of PP, because if you stack up on powerful moves, you run a chance of exhausting it all on the Elite 4/Champion, and the only exception to this would be Brock, since IIRC you need to grind just a little bit to be able to get Ember. But it's been a while since I played Fire Red like my mid-teenage self, and in fairness, I evolved Charmander, which helps with stats, so it's possible at _some_ select points you'd need to grind for level just a little bit.
This was just my normal run as a child, I would spend all my money on potions and just burn my way thru the game with charmander (ofc I’d actually evolve charmander tho) 💀
Same. I saw the title of this and was like, “Yes? Any other Pokemon are just there as fodder!” This is literally what I did as a child. I never even used items because I didn’t understand them. Never realised I was apparently playing hard mode. 🤷♀️
I did this with blastoise he was always my main for 2 reasons in the show there was a squirtle with sunglasses, he was the coolest and giant turtle with cannons on his back.
For FireRed I would get Abra as soon as possible and use him the whole game. I'd switch off on occasion, but for any significant battle I'd just level Alakazam (or Kadabra if I couldn't trade) up as much as possible and just one shot most of the gyms/rival fights/Elite Four/etc.
Charmander always been my favourite/ go to Pokémon lol.. Recently found your channel but watched a lot of the videos already lol love your content keep up the good work dude
I was legitimately stupid as a kid and did this with Pokémon red and without being able to read. Edit: just saw he won't let Charmander evolve. Guess least my reading handicap leveled the playing field.
if the game is like original red, yes you can, did it 20-ish years ago as a child when i was 11-12yo but at this point stuff like that wasn't called a challenge xD
Not only can you but it's a fun playthrough I did this back in the 90's when I was 10 or so. Didnt know how to play or knew anything about Pokemon in general. I tried to beat it as fast as possible. Wish I didnt evolve my charmander so fast but I was a child with a gameboy. 65 hours and I was 1 mon sweeping all my classmates Defeated only once by a 12 year old genius. He had over 1000 hours on the game
The answer is yes because I have done it. Rock slide earthquake, slash, flamethrower and a speed boosting nature like hasty or naive Also I leveled up on one island where 5 fighting type trainers were and used the vs seeker for an easy grind
god damn ive never seen so much luck with Fire Blasts not missing, i never use those kinds of moves because i am always unlucky with them missing more than they really should.
Fun fact: the thumbnail of the video has a posterior view of one arm, which is just mirrored and attached to the shoulders of Charmander. It's quite unnerving, once you see it.
I love pokemon (First and second generations, not what came later). I still have my gameboy (all variants except the very first one. Wasn't a collector at the time and gave it away.) with Red, Blue and Yellow. Now I want to play again. This was fun to watch.
You can literally beat this game with ANY Pokémon solo. Yes I mean it lol LITERALLY ANY of them. I guess not without items and stuff but still 95% of them.
I wasn't really worried that you couldn't beat the game with just Charmander, even though you made it extra hard for yourself to not use items during battle (you would have a LOT less issue going through several fights healing up after getting your 6 Doubleteams) what I did found weird though is that you made no use of the Stat Boosters (Calcium and the like) to supercharge your Attack power and perhaps boost your HP to lessen the impact of attacks on yourself.
It's certainly starting to look that way isn't it? In all seriousness I've been watching/rewatching alot of Mah-Dry-Bread's Pokémon challenges and wanted to have a go at a few
You play more Pokémon remember; 1) Open up and use the Universal Pokémon Randomiser then give the Pokémon full TM/HM comparability to make HM Slaves from any Pokémon 2) Rematch (VS-Finder) as much as possible as a trainee match gives money and more of these sweet experience points 3) Assuming you can use other Pokémon out of battle like with a HM slave then use a metric ton of Meowth for Payday or PickUp to help in the long run and you can even get Hidden Power though that is randomised soit is not something the people watching can try for themselves unless lucky 4) Assuming the same set up as THE Scott's Thoughts guy then press the space bar to play 5x faster You have to play more, these games have a lot to room to be explored.
Not quite, you get a boost (i think it's 50 percent more damage) to fire moves when under a certain percentage of HP, either 30 percent or one third, can't remember exactly. If you've played dark souls, it's basically red tearstone
I attempted this level capped (not a nuzloke) It took me forever to beat Misty at lv 21 but I did it, although I couldnt get level capped or under for Surge and Erika even with minimal battles, I got up to the elite 4, and I think my best effort was I got to Lance and failed horribly.
Recently found your channel, and I probably seen at least half of your videos already. I say I prefer your open world stuff, but it's all good. Have you considered using console commands in any of the games to make the environment more challenging or just strange?
You forgot that bulbasaur resists electric type attacks so the first 3 gyms are actually easier. Squirtle's neutral to water so the first 2 gyms are easier
If you don’t speed run bulbasaur sleep powder combined with stat moves or x special is also op. Also poison does percentage damage so you can kill pokemon that are way higher level
Charmander in fire Red is easy mode since they added metal claw cuz generation 3 kids would lose their shit if they played original gen 1 with Charmander only :p
its possible if you overlvl your pokemon, but i feel more exciting like silphsc does, not overlvl your pokemon and keep it same or lower as your next gym leader
THE REASON TO CHOOSE CHARMANDER IS BECAUSE THAT IS THE BEST STARTER LINEAGE!!! Also you could have caught other Pokemon and just put them in the PC to get the numbers necessary for the Flash HM and the other items requiring Pokedex numbers.
Came for the fallout, stayed for the... Everything, lol. Love your channel!
Same lol. Congrats, Nerbit!! Good job, my bro!
Love the channel too. But has any of the “can you beat?!” Pokémon videos. Ever ended with. “No you can’t!”
"What happened in the Grass Gym?"
War crimes.
Going to binge your channel keep with the good work
Thanks man, I really appreciate it

How did you get here? Mitten Squad?
How many subs did you find him at

A lot of kids have actually done this, it is decently common for the popular starters.
Ah yes, the main and their HM slaves. That’s usually how I played pokemon, lol.
This was just my normal run as a child, I would spend all my money on potions and just burn my way thru the game with charmander (ofc I’d actually evolve charmander tho) 💀
Yeah I did the same thing as him aside from evolving him to Charizard.
Same. I saw the title of this and was like, “Yes? Any other Pokemon are just there as fodder!” This is literally what I did as a child. I never even used items because I didn’t understand them. Never realised I was apparently playing hard mode. 🤷♀️
I did that with syndaquil ( idk how to spell that Pokémon name) . Perhaps ny favorite Pokémon apart from blastoise & my boy snorlax
I did this with blastoise he was always my main for 2 reasons in the show there was a squirtle with sunglasses, he was the coolest and giant turtle with cannons on his back.

Love these type of channels. Looking forward to it
Hey thanks man I hope you enjoy whatever video comes next :)
Charmander always been my favourite/ go to Pokémon lol.. Recently found your channel but watched a lot of the videos already lol love your content keep up the good work dude
Would’ve named Krabby “Boogie” bc you’d def be holding onto her as a boogie board while surfing
Super glad I found this channel.
Glad you enjoy the content man, I'm hoping to be able to get stuff sorted and have more stuff by April :)
Anyone who reads Winter Moon will find it fitting you call a fire pokemon florence
Yep
This was the biggest myth of Pokemon. "You can't just level up charizard" x1000. You could totally just level up charizard.
I was legitimately stupid as a kid and did this with Pokémon red and without being able to read.
Edit: just saw he won't let Charmander evolve. Guess least my reading handicap leveled the playing field.
Nerbit I hope you know I adore you for this. Charmander is the best and has been my favorite for over two decades now.
I would love to see more pokemon content on your channel, but your other runs are cool too!
Hail Charmander. Truly the finest pokemon.
Releasing hitmonlee was hilarious 😅
if the game is like original red, yes you can, did it 20-ish years ago as a child when i was 11-12yo but at this point stuff like that wasn't called a challenge xD
I always used beat the first two gyms with my Charmander as a matter of principal 😅 nice vid
same, Dig made Misty a breeze
You named your charmander FIREnze, nice. 😎
I really didn't ask this question...but I LOVE the answer lol
Bellsprout can learn Flash and Cut just in case you ever do any challenges like this again
Not only can you but it's a fun playthrough
I did this back in the 90's when I was 10 or so. Didnt know how to play or knew anything about Pokemon in general.
I tried to beat it as fast as possible. Wish I didnt evolve my charmander so fast but I was a child with a gameboy.

Rock slide earthquake, slash, flamethrower and a speed boosting nature like hasty or naive

Charmander can learn thunderpunch. Check mate boi
god damn ive never seen so much luck with Fire Blasts not missing, i never use those kinds of moves because i am always unlucky with them missing more than they really should.
Damn is it time for my millionth playthrough of Leaf Green? I think so
I’d watch a squirrel and bulbasaur playthrough
Fun fact: the thumbnail of the video has a posterior view of one arm, which is just mirrored and attached to the shoulders of Charmander. It's quite unnerving, once you see it.
Fool, double team is my bread and butter, all it takes is one to completely change a battle
Lmao that’s what I basically did on my first time playing as a kid
my brother would love this
Should've raised that special defense fool
Love this
I challaneged myself to grind till i could one shot every elite 4 members pokemon with flame thrower or fire blast that took days of grinding
As someone who has done this run I can only say ouch... so much ouch
On the thumbnail charmanders arms are backwards and they are too long. You created a monster that will haunt my dreams.
I love pokemon (First and second generations, not what came later). I still have my gameboy (all variants except the very first one. Wasn't a collector at the time and gave it away.) with Red, Blue and Yellow. Now I want to play again. This was fun to watch.
Now you should show the contrast of letting it evolve go through with charmeleon then charizard
Can you beat pokemon using only pokemone weak to the gym leaders and rival, thats the real question.
Love it do emerald and treeko
This didn't talk about fallout 76 at all 🤙🤘
I would have tried to call hime cutterfly.
The good old hm slave
if your not going to evolve a pokemon in a challenge a everstone seems like a fair move and the way to go
Love the accent man
Lorilei is hella underrated and hella op she should be the battle before lance
Damn I wonder how long in total hours this challenge took , but gg man
I am new subbed to your channel
You can literally beat this game with ANY Pokémon solo. Yes I mean it lol LITERALLY ANY of them. I guess not without items and stuff but still 95% of them.
One way ticket to the Pokémon tower
Laughs in kaizo.

Well done
You just love pain, dont you?
It's certainly starting to look that way isn't it? In all seriousness I've been watching/rewatching alot of Mah-Dry-Bread's Pokémon challenges and wanted to have a go at a few
AWESOME!
You play more Pokémon remember;
1)
Open up and use the Universal Pokémon Randomiser then give the Pokémon full TM/HM comparability to make HM Slaves from any Pokémon
2)
Rematch (VS-Finder) as much as possible as a trainee match gives money and more of these sweet experience points
3)
Assuming you can use other Pokémon out of battle like with a HM slave then use a metric ton of Meowth for Payday or PickUp to help in the long run and you can even get Hidden Power though that is randomised soit is not something the people watching can try for themselves unless lucky
4)
Assuming the same set up as THE Scott's Thoughts guy then press the space bar to play 5x faster
You have to play more, these games have a lot to room to be explored.
The lower your health the higher fire damage you do
Not quite, you get a boost (i think it's 50 percent more damage) to fire moves when under a certain percentage of HP, either 30 percent or one third, can't remember exactly. If you've played dark souls, it's basically red tearstone

Also, I had the same moveset, expect I had Iron Tail instead of Fire Blast
Saw the video thought no way
As a kid I literally only beat this game with Charmander. Nothing else, if he failed I was screwed, lol
hello clone
fuck just realised your name is han solo that a stor war character
Recently found your channel, and I probably seen at least half of your videos already. I say I prefer your open world stuff, but it's all good. Have you considered using console commands in any of the games to make the environment more challenging or just strange?
beat yellow with only Pikachu
What fossil did you take
Can you Beat "Pokemon Crystal" without catching any Pokemon?
Trades with NPCs are allowed and so are eggs
great video man! what is the accent that you have? austrailian? (sorry in advance for my ignorance, i mean no disrespect)
Northern Ireland
@@sorrenblitz805 thanks!!
I don't understand this challenge. Is there another way to play this game?
Evolving your pokemon.
Nice
Yes yes you can
You forgot that bulbasaur resists electric type attacks so the first 3 gyms are actually easier. Squirtle's neutral to water so the first 2 gyms are easier
If you don’t speed run bulbasaur sleep powder combined with stat moves or x special is also op. Also poison does percentage damage so you can kill pokemon that are way higher level
SO... MANY... ERRORS!!
Against the Rivals Rattata Charmander has Blaze that's why you oneshoted it.
Props 👌
More Pokémon!
fresh
Charmander in fire Red is easy mode since they added metal claw cuz generation 3 kids would lose their shit if they played original gen 1 with Charmander only :p
This was awesome
Thou I don't get why this is a challenge
An entire generation of kids did this for something to do
Bonsai charmander
Dude basically just did what we all did at first, only use the starter and stop it evolving
its possible if you overlvl your pokemon, but i feel more exciting like silphsc does, not overlvl your pokemon and keep it same or lower as your next gym leader
not sure about fire red but I will tell you from personal experience you can beat the original blue version with a charmander
Yes but NOT recommended because of Brock and Misty.
Like that such a big deal I only ever use my starter Pokemon I'm too lazy to train the other ones
Yeoooo upa waaa
Yes
Image what would happen with a Charizard
wait i thought Charmander didn't learn Flamethrower until level 40?
Fallout👌👌👌
Answer is yes I've done it when I was a kid
I don’t need the answer, but I’m just curious enough to click
You could have done it better by utilizing your blaze ability making it lower health
What if I get a dido to make another one or enough for a full party
It can be done I've done it on yellow and firered
How do you not let a Pokémon evolve curious question ?
i have a challeng for you playing finish pokemon matel red with only one charmender plz
Charrr
