Yes, Steve Harvey eventually answered my question after his shut down the lady who rudely interrupted us. I no longer have the Mountain Dew addiction. I drink the Dew occasionally. Thanks for all of the respectful comments, concerns, and advice. God bless all of you. ❤️

I understand the teacher’s argument, I too am a teacher. Retired after 35 years I still correct language and grammar in my head or out loud when I hear it. I have observed the evolution in Steve’s language, grammar, and voice. What I think is that Steve’s change is for effect and it does make people laugh!

As someone who knows a little bit about language, this is what I would say to that English teacher: every language has different dialects and vernaculars, they way Steve speaks isn’t “bad English” it’s just not textbook standard. (Like Arabic for example, tons of different dialects, all correct and the same language)
My thing is it's all made up its only the past 50-100 years that we have tried to enforce these certain rules

"Um is rich" sounds much better to Steve, who never graduated from college, but has a natural "gift of gab" and is a great communicator, is very successful, has many wonderful jobs he loves (any one of which most people would love to have), is a great husband and father and supports his family (not just financially, but emotionally as well as in their life choices), gives back and has a great and positive influence on many youth through his foundation, supports and respects women in general (he had a wonderful mom!), and for the most part just brightens people's days, has a positive influence on people,, and is a blessing to many others on a daily basis!
