    I hauled 2 ATVs on a snowmobile trailer for several hours using this tie down method. Worked like a charm. Now I feel more confident hauling my ATV’s. Thanks for the video.

    Good information I prefer the E track and straps over the tires myself for securement. Thanks for putting it out there that if you need to back on you have the wrong trailer so many people have the wrong trailers round me that it's scary to watch them go down the road. One other tip I'd like to share is don't use $5.00 hobo freight straps to secure your $30K units people spend a couple bucks on good straps !!

I wonder why the guys at the Yamaha shop never told me this when I was unloading for service. I've had problems with my straps coming lose and new it was the machine bouncing that was causing it but didn't know how to fix it. I really appreciate you taking the time to show the proper way to strap down my UTV to a trailer,you definitely saved me money on my truck insurance from a lose strap flying off to who knows where! 👍👍✌️

    I have a 6x10 trailer for my sxs. The trailer is 6" longer then the unit (from the rear bumper) when the ramp is closed. I butt the front wheels up to the front rail and put a strap around the back tires and pull it forward. Never have to worry about it moving.

    • @cavscout43
      @cavscout43 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd imagine longer term having your straps against a metal 90 degree angle from the wheel would be terrible for their longevity. If you're not protecting them with a sleeve, you really need to be using proper "lasso" car tire straps that wrap around

  • @Dusdaddy
    @Dusdaddy ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great method! I'm the same, I always attach to the tires. I use lasso straps over the top of the tires myself. Sometimes the wheels are just too damn to muddy to push a strap through....lol

    I have the E-Trac system. I absolutely love that setup cause I know for a fact it’s not going anywhere and there isn’t any strain on any steering components. Plus the excess strap is folded and slipped between the tire and the strap then tighten the strap. It’ll never come out. Your way is fine for you and that’s all that matters.

    I use this system with a slight modification. I put axle straps with rash guards through the wheels and do a crisscross method with the straps. The front wheel gets locked down to the rear eye hook on the trailer same side and the rear wheels get locked down to the front eye hook on the trailer same side. We did a similar method with 3-wheelers and quads except we had to go around the axles. I have seen a few car tow companies use both this method in the video and my method. I have seen the same driver use both methods. But this is by far the best and safest way.

    • @FishersOffRoad
      @FishersOffRoad  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds good another thing on my new trailer is that the front anchor spots are directly in line with my front wheels but the rear ones are off in the corners so the is a angle. Won't the front want to jimmy from one side or another without a angle on the straps? Thanks for your time .

    • @FishersOffRoad
      @FishersOffRoad  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you make both sides in the front tight it shouldn’t shift at all. I would check the straps and possibly tighten a little more after driving for an hour or two.

      I have used their SXS DB Cover before. I hauled a two seat General and it did great. I would say it depends on your truck, I had a RAM 3500 dually and never even noticed it was up there. I would say a 250 or 350 would be good to haul a SXS on the DB cover. Check this video out:

      I hauled a RZR 900 with mine. It worked well, til I did a long arm kit and taller tires. At that point, the front tires against the headache rack left the rear tires sticking 3-4" off the back of a full sized 8' box. You'll probably want extensions for hauling a SXS on a deck, even with a long bed.
      You'll need the center support as well, the shims will not hold the weight and the sag will prevent the tailgate from opening or closing.

      Great question! I personally like to put my machine in H gear and put the E Brake on, if the machine has park I let it in park. Not saying that’s the 100% correct way to do it, I strap my units down really good so I don’t get any back & forth movement. I’ve never had any problems with any of our machines hauling them that way.

    Except you’re putting your strap against a tear point in that wheeler rim..eventually your wheeler will tear through that strap unless you use actual straps with protective cover over strap, but strapping wheels are great method…

      Not these wheels, cheap wheels with sharp edges yes.

    I can't imagine enough wind loaded backwards to rip off the windshield, roof, and seats. Hurricane force maybe but highway speed, come on.

    Straping this way cuts the strap. Everytime

      I guess it depends on how you're strapping, what wheels you have and the quality of your straps. I've been doing it like this for years with zero issues.

    Say this louder for the people in the back lord god some of the stuff I see driving down the interstate scares the crap out of me. I tried to explain just how you strap yours and the people who believe that wrapping a strap around your wheel will break the wheel is unbelievable.

      Yes sir, I hear you loud & clear! The ones that are set on their ways and say it’s wrong are the ones that need the info the most!
      Just like using a winch to secure an ATV or SXS, every time I went to the WARN headquarters they would show me hundreds of gears that were destroyed by the winch being used to tie down a unit or being used to drag someone out of a mud hole.
