I still can't get over the fact this champion teaser has more stuff in it than this season's cinematic.
Well i guess the reason why they are done it is because they are mainly focused on gameplay now, not lore.... which is pretty sad and also they don't want to have players' expectations because of the season cinematic (ex. Ruination). Riot wanted to give us a big surprise instead. It is the best decision actually

I like that she's doing warmups all the time, she's preparing. She also does little acts to trick you into thinking she's a goofy
It's you, the player, knocking on her door which triggers those reactions from briar in the client, in a way that screams attention-starved for briar (plus literrally hungry of course lol).
The video does not translate this well, since it makes it seem the other way around, like she is trying to get your attention with no prompt to.

The voiceover, though, makes it pretty dull. Like another cheerful character rather than someone desperate to sound friendly
I love how those joyful tones in her voice have manic inflections to them. It's like she is lightheartedly asking you to reach a hand out, but is inadvertently convincing you to keep your distance, while still peer into her cell.
And the fact that her 'happy voice' deviates a lot from her malicious stare is 👌

I am pretty certain the voice actress is Ashleigh Ball. Some of her lines is way too similar, imo.
she does sound a bit like jinx, but i don't think theyre in the same space for character design, i think she just sounds like her. both are insane and both are trying to cope with their insanity. i think thats the extent of the similarity.
the difference i think though is shes TRYING to sound normal. i get that this is basically a supercut of all the teases we see of briar while imprisoned, but during the phases the observer is "lured" closer and closer. she's trying to sound like a rational person to make us the observer less afraid of her. and then as she stops talking and the observer gets too close, she kills the observer. if shes been imprisoned a long time, why would she not be screaming at the observer begging for attention or interaction or even "food"? could be a couple of reasons. still a teaser. still more info to be learned.
Yeah she definitely tries to lure you. The guard got too curious with her innocence and was single handily the reason she got out
I’m loving this teaser. It reminds me of the creepiness of Fiddlestick’s trailer mixed in with Jinx’s humor. I’m crossing my fingers they have interactions with each other.
Makes me realize how much Riot needs to work on plugging leaks. Could you imagine if this was our first exposure to her?

But atleast the teaser don't tell you the guy between the design would rather satisfy his foot fetish instead of actually caring about the game and the player and trying to do something good.

It's awesome how she's similar to Bel'veth in that they both use acts of trickery to make people fall for their traps. Bel'veth with the human face, Briar with the kiddie like acts and tricks and the super chill and normal voice she puts on.

The first time she speaks, it has an odd filter to it, before she 'adjusts' to sound more normal. I think that idea had a lot of potential, but was dropped before it could truly become uncanny. What I DO like is the way she occasionally just pops up and stares you down. It's like she's trying to look friendly or charming, all the while she's essentially just evaluating you as a food source.
My favorite thing though is the moment that she realizes she's finally lured you in. You make almost no sound at all but she still picks up on it and snaps to see you. The little head tilt right before she rushes is just so subtly creepy, like she's evaluating the distance and is like "yeah, I can make it," before going for the chomp.
Since the bars are in the way, it's likely that she doesn't even manage to kill with the first bite; she probably gets a nose or some cheek meat, something painful but not necessarily lethal. But that's all she needs to break out and finish her meal.
My big complaint being how a lot of her 'creepiness' comes off as more quirky and 'random' than actually uncanny "how do you do, fellow humans?" I think if she slipped up more, occasionally forgetting to fix her voice or sometimes just going completely still would've helped a lot to sell that.
All in all, she's not the femme fatale vampire I wanted, but I could learn to like her. Not a fan of the voice though. She sounds too much like a peppy vex to me.
So if she is considered extremely dangerous, why keep her inside a wooden doored cell. Wouldn't she like.... you know be in Maximum Security cell like Sylas?

The last bit felt like Fiddlesticks, with her twitchy excited faced turning to you, and that quick dash, and a cherry on top with her jaw snapping shut.

I love that shes a whole woman not a child (seems so weird to be a vampire loli), that she momics human interaction to lure the guard closer and to let his ... well, guard down. I have the sense that shes inteligent to the point of getting what she needs ... blood. And after she does she goes full on animal and then she calms again. I really want to read her story ngl this is completely new to the lore. A vampire. A failed noxian experiment. And why are there demacian and noxian soldiers in her splash art. Was she a weapon shiped to the front ?

Whats terrifying about her is that in fiddlesticks teaser. The guy screamed in fear. But in her case, she was so fast that the victim wasnt able to react on time.

I really like the way her actions are so goofy that they feel deeply out of place. She acts like a silly cartoon character, but the environment around her and her own design don't match it. It gives it a nicely unsettling vibe.
This looks like a very fun and chaotic champion! I am excited for her release!
Interesting how she’s talks and acts given her situation. There are parts where the deranged vampiric parts show in few small moments and her complaints of being hungry but for the most part, she’s pretty chill

This teaser is so good in so many different ways.
Gotta say, her disappearing an instant just for her hand to grab the iron bar got me the first time. Plus, the direction she walks towards the end, going against all logics by appearing from the opposite side she should, and the fact that you see her "preparing" herself for the whole time, letting the watcher understand what's going to happen in the end from the very start... such a cool teaser!

about appearing from the opposite side part, the only explanation in mind is that she did climb the wall she was facing initially, going all the way back to where she started, going through ceiling, incredibly fast and without even a sound.
which is crazy dope, i liked how simple and creepy this detail was given she just walks so chilly in front of me not to freak me out after going crazy when out of sight.
and how bored she is it shows that she just keeps playing like that in her little cell eager to get out.
@@M4DLC I think that either she did what you assumed, she slipped below the vision the window in the door gave us (aka the opposite of your idea), or the jail worked in a way that if you tried to smash one of the walls it'd instead force you to appear on the other side.
Whatever the case was, the even more creepy thing is that while doing any of these actions her chains and torture tool would have caused loud noises, since even just her walking caused them, and yet everything was silent.
Well its an old noxus cell so i doubt that the walls work that way but yea, the fact that she doesn't make a sound crossing to other side very fast out of our sight is really bizzare

@@Hulelol Jhin's teaser was just best artistic at best but Yone alone or Yone and Lilia. Riot made 3 short stories before releasing the event to just support the Lore background. Riot made us taste the first on how beautiful they made long videos like the teaser of Yone before making Arcane. Plus the event was always a banger because it was the 1st Spirit Blossom and 10th anniversary.

@@isabellafelipedeoliveiraca6698 the issue is how controversial the demacia story arc is. maybe getting more in depth would explain why they are so vehemently opposed to magic that they brutally oppress mages just for existing. as in an "explaining the reason without justifying it" way. i feel the reason a lot of people favor sylas and condemn demacia so harshly is because they miss the context of why demacia hates mages so much (in short, magic is DANGEROUS, and the founders of demacia have seen first hand what it can do)

yeah i really hate the direction Riot goes with their archetypes for characters. Male champs are either big, edgy or eboy and female champs are either sexy, cute or girlboss. It just makes champs feel so limited. We could've got a batshit crazy champ who has been locked up for ages, used as a weapon of war but also a vampire. instead we got a cute vampire girl with a cute personality who is crazy but feels restricted. I really hope the skins and ingame voicelines make up for it

@@Karaamjeetshe feels restricted because she is. And in-client she is mostly silent or humming to herself/thinking out loud, it's the player loudly knocking on her door which triggers the lines of a clearly attention starved individual (plus a very hungry one lol)
@@magical571 you clearly misunderstood what i meant - i’m saying her design is restricted aka the design team we’re forced to design her with monetisation in mind. they wasn’t free to take risks or create a champion that was truly different. instead of feral vampire, a weapon of destruction that cannot be controlled… we got a cute uwu girl who is a little creepy and manipulative.
By restricted i’m talking all recent champs - not specifically briars physicality of being locked in a pillory (which is a cool design). Naafiri’s concepts and Viego’s concepts showed how creative the respective champs could’ve been instead we got boring, safe and generic-ish designs that.
contrary to what her splash art represents, briar doesn't actually seem to be blind
you can clearly tell because she often looks through the window in the door and in her cell, and even specifically comments on the guards sword
if she were blind, these wouldn't be of any interest to her
In client she reacts to the player knocking on her door for each phrase. She could be blind and the sword bit just be small talk to get you closer. She screams attention starved plus literal hunger, both.

I wonder if the wisteling might be inspired by Puss in Boots 2’s Death, or the Blood and Wine DLC of The Witcher 3 that contains a lot of vampires.
Her design also remind me slightly of Shalltear from the Overlord series.
Can’t wait to see her full story/kit/reveal.

As far as I remember Gaunter O'dimm from hearts of Stone DLC did the whistling not Blood and wine.
I agree on the Shalltear. She looks like a cross between Shalltear and Tiny Tina from Borderlands
@@egemenartuk you have a point, but the Lullaby of Woe that is one of Blood and Wines main music used also does fit the general ominous whistle theme like that of Gaunter O’Dimms theme.
I think the whistle mightve taken inspiration from Gaunter, but the tunes/lullaby and you’know, the whole vampire focus, might have come from the Blood and Wine expansions.
Regardless think its cool for Briar, and love both The Witcher 3 DLC’s
scary things whistling is actually a relatively common trope in folklore horror for some reason.

What i found creepy is on one of the dialogues she said nice sword after looking at you even though she was mentioned to be blind from the leaks.

The background ambient music is absolutely terrifying too...
I think it’s cool that it highlights the weight of the polity by having her doing workouts in it. It sorta highlights that she’s immortal and just sits there for untold time honing her body over and over and over until she becomes strong enough to rip through iron bars. It even shows her doing back squats with the pillory literally highlighting that she has a constant weight ALL THE TIME. Sorta like Rock Lee so when it’s finally released she’s just a lightning fast powerhouse.
So sad. The teaser is so freaking good and we get a first teaser this big since so long.... Andnit gets ruined due to early leaks...

A winter scarf, a crown, a bed/pillow, a collar/jewlery,, a spiky wood branch, etc
figure youre not a creative mind. It can literally be anything. A Snowflake as her cuff in a winter skin, half a sweet bread in a food skinline, a more horrifying version of her head as multiple heads on that part (considering it can move) as a coven skin....

I have a theory that Briar uses her cute and child-like personality to lull people around her into a false sense of security, allowing her to feast on unsuspecting victims.

@@Karaamjeeti think it adds more nuance to her, a straightforward villainous vampire is a pretty tired trope and we already have enough edgy baddies. Makes her more interesting.
And we don’t already have enough “small cute girl” characters? Heck, we already even have an “ancient loli” character.

Ok, i've got to say, it works way better in the client since you are the one knocking on her door and getting her attention, not the other way around.
I felt like i should point this out since i get the feeling a lot of the people commenting only watch this compilation/leak-
otherwise she just mostly walks back and forth from time to time, sigh or complain about boredom to nobody in particular. In fact with how she acts in client, specially a bit which isn't included on this video where she "sniffes" you around the door when you knock, she could still be blind since she seems be reactive to your sounds (knocking on the door), and smells. Otherwise she seems a little unsure about whether you are still in there or not.
For all i know, she could have perfectly 10/10 vision. but there's definitely something off about her in the client interactions with her, which the video does not translate well). For example, When she says hey there or welcomes you, it's because YOU knocked, not just her being manic out of nowhere. The cell is mostly silent otherwise.
There's a time where you knock, and she says hello in a confused kind of way, like she isn't sure whther or not there is someone outside her door or not, but she seems pretty eager to run in a straight line towards anything to break her boredom and saciate her hunger. so the ending definitely seems more like what her personality will be like ***if given the space***, her in the cell is 90% silent and a trial of patience for her.

im thinking shes trying to sound more normal to lure the observer in. it'd be cool if the personality we saw in these teasers is just a feigned personality as a lure for the observer

The…manacles?…are an interesting aspect of the design.
When the “chains noises” got leaked beforehand, I was wondering if they were like Silas, if they were ankle cuffs that clinked when she walked, or even if she could float; and the chains simply rattled in the air.
…this design is considerably more “bulky” than I anticipated; but really serves to emphasize that despite her small stature; she is a deadly predator with deceptive strength that needs to be kept heavily detained.
My only curiosity is…how do they translate that lumbering thing into other skins?
That’ll be the fun part.
