I have "giftwraped" a lot of boats for the winter up here in sweden, and I have come to the following conclusions, 1: If the tarp can flutter, it will be broken and leak faster than you can turn your car around! 2: If you have a depression annywhere on your tarp, no matter the grade of tarp you are using, it will leak! 3: No weight will be heavy enough to hold down the tarp and at the same time not being so heavy that it rips the eyelets out of the tarp! The only exception to anny of these former statements are rubberized clothtarp, the cind that is so heavy you need a rugby team or half a dozen bricklayers to carry... 😉 Thank you for another lovely vlog about your renovation, I find them interesting and quite soothing to watch!
My son‘s roofs were destroyed through hail this summer and the only tarp which did not leak was the heavy rubberized clothtarp. They brought it up with a crane! Sorry 😔 and best of luck for your roof 🙋♀️
So true about tarping anything. Coated canvas works ok where I am, but gets pretty expensive if used where and how much these guys need it. Will be a winter long project I fear. Love this channel 😊
There's a hiker who saw Chaumont before Dan bought it, who basically created a tribute page and included aerial photos from the 1970s looking down over the roof. The middle section looks a bit like butterfly wings as the middle ridge connects up to the ends of the ridge beams of the mansard sections.
@@vadeka I'm not clear on how many windows are being closed off, but I think the building will certainly still be drying out. On a much smaller scale, I had the roof off my garage for a few weeks when replacing it, that took months to dry out. Due to the thickness of the walls in this, it could take a long time, so heat and ventilation would help.

Eventually to include all the windows, doors, rails and skirting. my mind is gently boggled. Not to mention the kilometres of pointing and hectares of plastering which are yet to be logisticated and enjoyed by all of us armchair (office chair) remember-to-breathe vicarious hangers on. And one day, Dan will sit and have a whisky, in front of the fire, and all will be done. People will be there, and in that little universe, things will be complete. Birds will sing (get off my land!) and bees will buzz (the air feels heavy today, must be the humidity!) and the dogs will be so relieved.
