I'm basically a computer illiterate troglodyte, I don't even know how to get my antivirus to stop asking me to update my antivirus, so my buddy hooked me up with a modpack on an SD card so we could play some crazy modded Skyrim, multiplayer. I put it in, moved two files, renamed a third, opened Skyrim. They said "Now comes the hard part, troubleshooting, I've had a problem where it keeps sorting this one into a bad load order" then something about extra bones taking ram and mesh I don't know what the hell mesh armor even is. I have no idea what's going on. I went to mods, checked them all, and it started. They were absolutely dumbfounded. 15 minutes and I'm killing Skulltulas with my naruto mall ninja follower who I robbed for their kunai just outside of Windfall Island, when a pair of Chaos Chosen and a trio of Skaven crest a hill and try kick my ass. Almost kill me, kill the naruto mall ninja follower, and I find my way into the water. I swim for a while, then make it to Markarth, and get the Wraithblade from the museum. They're still adjusting the modpack to get it to work on their computer. Can confirm, the Steamdeck is great.

I loved that fucking system, it felt perfect in my hands and the screen was amazing. Well, after a few moves I lost the damn thing. I couldn't find it anywhere. Turns out I had left it at a friend's house. They had found it at one point and then lost it again. I was broken hearted. So I decide one day to just buy a new one... Turns out I wasn't. I cannot believe how fucking expensive those god damn things are. :(
I just looked up the prices for the GBA and holy shit is that thing expensive nowadays. About 12 years ago I got a GBA from ebay with a dozen games for 20 euros. Nowadays you can't even get only the console for at least twice that price. What happened? It's the same story with the segaCD and sega32x and atari jaguar. I remember them being sold on ebay for about the price of a pack of cigarettes. It is as if some people are willing to pay any price for any old console/console addon no matter how great/shitty it is.
@@trashcanman6649 honestly tik tok made retro gaming look so appealing because of little creativity comes into modern games and consoles - Covid hit and everyone wanted to relive their childhood so they start buying en mass but with retro gaming already picking up popularity the past decade it made a perfect storm of limited stock becoming even more limited - plus with how many people have modded or broken their old consoles/handhelds recently finding in the box or even well maintained items rare - also with the entire market being made up of “traders” that will upsale sometimes over 100% market value, getting a good price on anything you’re getting is near impossible - only good outcome is eventually people get bored of retro tech making the prices go down but it’s gonna be nearly impossible for that to happen unless more dumbasses like DKoldies get exposed for their terrible businesses

Honestly I've had really good experiences using controllers for phones in public people usually ask me what game I'm playing and then I later see them play the game. But don't come up to me and ask me if I'm okay but I'm okay with you asking what game I'm playing
some gba emulators on phone let you adjust button position and size, and let you add or remove buttons. zelda and mario are still a pain to play, but pokemon, sonic, and even kingdom hearts chain of memories feel fine to play on my phone.
I've had my refurbished switch for 2 years now with no stick drift. As hard as I played skyward sword, BOTW and Unite it should be drifting like mad they way everyone else claims Do y'all treat your consoles that poorly?
Nerevar is right that Steam Deck is an amazing emulation system, and is based for ruining Dagoth’s original scalping plans. PSP makes a nice, much more portable, Gameboy now too. Buy one with a broken UMD drive for even more savings.

Or a SNES Classic/ Super Famicom Mini
Or one of the Chinese emulators like powkiddy, retroid or anbernic
Or build retroarch on a raspberry pi, it is not nearly as plug and play though
honestly a PSP seems like the second place to a steam deck in terms of that kind of thing, I remember wishing I had one basically just for that
