    Yes!! I wanted to flat-pack a cover for my bike and put into DXP for my 2d Drafting CAD (DeltaCAD) so I could make a big sewing pattern. I did this the hard way, by measureing every line last time I made a custom cover for my kit car (3d scanned into Blender using 3DS Zepher). It took two days to measure and draw every line! So to do that quickly, you use your 'create paper model' to export in SVG format instead, then import it back into Blender, convert it to a mesh and export it back out again as a DXF (another add-on) which would work for those who have those niffty paper-cutter plotter printers too. You loose scale, but that isn't hard to recalculate. Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial!

    You can include in the model a "ruler" representing the height of the mask. When you scale all the figures proportionally in a vector program, you will be able to know the general measurement of the ruler and know if the patterns have been scaled to the desired measurement.
    This way you can make paper models of various sizes with little margin for error.

    • @makeitreality457
      @makeitreality457 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. You can also take a photo of your head next to a ruler or something of known size. Drag and drop the photo into Blender, and scale it to that size for a reference.

    Exactly what I was thinking about right around the time u made this video, though I was thinking HUGE, like dividing higher poly models so they can be assembled from A1 fitting cutouts, which requires a more sophisticated add-on, I guess, to be done automatically. Miraculous if it hasn't been done already.

    I really would love for this to be more efficient like Pepakura, but I think it has a way to go. The back and forth between saving a pdf, opening a pdf to check your work and back to blender to make changes and re save seems so tedious and so easy to change.

    • @netherlabgames7511
      @netherlabgames7511  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Not that I know of, but one can always take snippets of the parts and rearrange them in Word or something as you like.
      If someone has a neat solution to this without manually rearranging, let us know :)

    • @aherbez

      You can save it out as an SVG instead of a PDF, and once you have that, you can edit it in Inkscape (also free and open-source) to move the parts around. Just make sure that if you scale them, that you scale all of them at the same time so they still fit together.
