A big THANK YOU to Corey for making the grueling road trip to save Arabella.❤️👏 I'm sure all the prep/calls/info gathering was stressful too, but driving 2200+ miles in 36 hours was amazingly generous of him! And although it is a wonderful trailer, the journey for Arabella was no doubt stressful - especially on top of the abandonment at the livestock lot.Bless all who helped, and continue to help, this beautiful equine.

Thank you for rescuing this mare & getting her out of the pipeline. I’ve had Norwegian Fjords since 1988. I’m now 72, my last (of 4) ponies - a mare out of my first - is 22. She has Cushing’s, has foundered 2 times - fortunately mildly. Due to my health I can no longer carriage drive or do a lot with her, so she’s out to pasture. She was born here & when the time comes, I will make that most difficult but right choice to let her cross the rainbow bridge, where she will be laid to rest here, on the farm she’s never left. My promise to all my animals - not just the horses, they are my responsibility to the end. I could not, EVER, put her up for auction or sale. We have such a disposable society & that is especially sad for large & small animals entrusted in our care. I’m thankful there are folks such as yourselves, in a position that you can help rescue the horses you do, it is a difficult & expensive task, I’m sure with many challenges, which I would consider a ministry. God bless you both as you care for these beautiful horses. 🙏♥️

If you go that way again, consider hooking up with Pony Tails.. they were at a large draft auction recently and brought approximately 12 home.
Young foals were also being separated from their moms being sold off separately. They were able to save 3 of those.
Being a charity with acreage, they would gladly team up as they have with others.
Networking really saves costs and lives ❤
So happy for your new addition. Bright future 🌻

Have I got a story for you. 34 years ago I worked at a dude ranch in Waukesha county WI. I've been to that sale many times. The first time I was 16 and the owner of the ranch wanted me to understand how the horse world really worked. The awful side. But at the same time he wanted me to know that there were good people too. He was one although he liked to act like he wasn't. Most of the 150 horses that were used at the ranch were from that sale or others like it. They were slaughter bound. It may seem like a lot of horses for 1 ranch but I never saw an animal abuse, hungry, sick, overworked, or harmed in any way. None of his substantial crew would dare. The craziest part is he loved to rescue Belgians most. When he was young he and his dad raised them and after his dad passed away he just couldn't anymore. Many times though he would go to sales here in SE WI and rescue a Belgian or a team and bring them home. And that's where I learned to love them and rehab them. To show them they are safe and loved and won't be hurt. Your story hits home with me. Right in the heart. Another crazy thing is my great grandmother's name was Arabella. So pretty. Thank you for what you do.

I have always wanted to do this myself, but it never worked out for me....lucky you! This is the best work in the World. When I get my bills paid off, I will start helping you with feed, something I look forward to doing. I am 80 yrs. old & so blessed to be very active yet! My contribution won't be large but I know "every little bit helps" the cause. My heart is with you & broken for the many, many horses that no one saves from the kill pen!!!!! With much love & prayers for you all!!! Judie/Michigan

She is so beautiful!!❤. Seems like she is not used to being around other horses?
It also looked like maybe she was "winking" like she is in Estrus? which could be why she is acting more temperamental or perhaps she was used as a brood mare and some mares get savaged by stallions and then they are very uncomfortable and even fearful of new horses. I had a mare like that.
Can you tell if she has had babies? Their teats are much larger than a maiden mare.
Or some mares are just more emotional but she looked pretty happy in those last shots of her. These big horses are so gentle and amazing! I just love them! Liam was so cute. He wanted some attention too. ☺️. What a sweet boy he is. You are so blessed to have all these beautiful wonderful horses and to be able to give them a lovely life filled with scratches and loving care!❤. God bless you all! What a beautiful mare, I’m so grateful that you were able to help save her….just as cattle are slaughtered for human consumption, so are horses slaughtered to be turned into animal products. The biggest problem with all this is that they are starved and abused, being tortured and suffering in pain, all for the love of MONEY. I’ve seen many of them in the auction houses, and slaughtering pens. It broke my heart to see them suffer this way. I wonder how many of these people would like to be treated in the same manner as those they treat with the horses?? There is a right way and a wrong way in treating animals that end their lives for us. What I’ve seen at auction and slaughter houses is the wrong way, leaving animals to starve to death, including also suffering under unnecessary pain. If an animal is beyond recovery, then put it down humanely, otherwise at least give it the dignity and respect it deserves, caring and feeding it.
All life is sacred and precious, and should be given the dignity and respect which all life deserves. Humanity has been given a job to do……AS CARETAKERS OF OUR PLANET…..humanity so far has FAILED that job, wasting everything that it thinks isn’t worth anything monetarily or even as companions, destroying everything that isn’t considered human standards of living, when in actuality, all life depends upon the other to survive and thrive. Humans may be at the top of the list of life, but also humans CANNOT live without any of the life on this planet…..ALL ARE CONNECTED, ALL ARE EQUAL IN LIFE, the only difference between us and the rest of the Life species on our planet, is the color, shape, and how we view our environment. Without the ecosystem and livable species, humans cease to exist. When one species dies out, so does everything else dies along with it. It’s the universal law.

I wish I lived near you, I’d love to volunteer. I’ve mentioned before, I’m very poorly, which means I can’t work anymore…..but volunteering would give me purpose in the time I have left.
I’ve been wanting to ask Julie, is there a reason you go to feed lots as opposed to auction to rescue horses? I was under the impression draft horses at auction need far more help and are often in appalling condition. Their price is also close to half the cost of feed lot rescue horses. You may have talked about this in a previous video, I’m so sorry if I’m going over old ground. At the end of the day, I realise whether you’re rescuing from feed lots or auction, it’s still a life saved and I absolutely love what you do. You’re incredible, true earth angels.

Arabella is a spicy girl. She's absolutely beautiful. I'm so happy she's in a loving and caring place. It drives me crazy when people cut their tails, don't they understand the tail helps them with flies. God bless you both. Now I have to wait another week for a video. Lol

She is the prettiest one yet. I love her name. That was my Great- grandmother's name. (Arabella) I would keep her in my back yard. 😅 congrats to you and your husband for what you do for these gentle giants.

HAVE YOU THOUGHT OF BRAIDING SOMETHING LIKE NARROW STRIPS OF SHEETS INTO TAILS TO HELP WITH FLY SWATTING. JUST A THOUGHT. THEIR STUMPY LITTLE TAILS ARE WORKING OVERTIME. YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND ARE GODS ANGELS ON EARTH. THANK YOU.

We talked to the vet about that and she suggested tail bags. So we are looking into them to see if that will help them.

Julie, my mom was raised out in Tulia, I know your area well and have cousins there. What we use to do is put a penny in a zip lock bag filled with water and hang the partially closed bag on our porches and it would draw huge amounts of flies. I don't know why it just does-- try hanging bags of water around the barn with a penny in each and see what happens.
