I've been trying to learn brush lettering for awhile but have been pretty overwhelmed. I came across your channel and I just have to tell you, you're a really good teacher. You have a very methodical approach and you break things down in a very clear, organized fashion. Even though you are selling additional products you give enough information that I can proceed even without the help of the workbooks (although I can see how they would be immensely helpful and I intend to try a couple.) Thank you so much for making this content available.
I 1000% agree!! No one I watch has ever used the grid paper and broken down which letter to bounce and how high!! I'm so freaking happy. I'm 3 months new to this hobby and I love it but.... I've been stuck! Bummed out and thinking I just might not be cut out for this. That all changed after watching this simple yet perfect video! Oh I just over the moon happy! I buying myself a reward. Hi Becca. It's about 24 hours since you changed my lettering life by showing m me EXACTLY how to figure out how to "bounce" my letters. I cannot stop. I bought the graph paper you suggested. It was a Lil expensive but worth it. Noone taught how and where to "bounce". I struggled with, "should I drop down here? How many letters go between each bounce?".. and so on. You showed me exactly how to figure that out using the graph paper and by circling the right spots to descend and ascend. And I've not stopped lettering all day. It's so fun. I was suffering from, "failure to Bounce". You've cured me. Thank you. I've binge watched most of your videos and is been a blast. I'll attend one of your classes here in there very near future. Thanks again girl. You're my new hero!
Your videos have taught me more in a few hours than the past few montths I've been trying to master Bouncy letters. Nobody has circled the "end strokes" like you have. I didn't even know that term. I just bought a beginners brush lettering kit which was helpful, but I was struggling with connecting my letters and stylising my letters before I mastered the basics. I’m so happy I discovered your channel! I just binged quite a few videos before bed and I can’t wait to get to practicing tomorrow!

My DIL is very good at callifraphy, i always wanted to learn from her but was not able to do so until i came across your tutorial. I am learning every day bit by bit, then my DIL said mom you can also write like this showing me on paper( bouncing) but i had no clue how to go about it, today i learnt it and i'll soon try and master the art with your help.

I think a LOT of people stop using lines when they become just a little comfortable with hand lettering. And THAT'S when their work becomes illegible. I see so many of those trendy "wall art" canvases with sayings that cannot be read.
Anyway, thank you for your channel. I was thinking the other day, "i want to learn calligraphy" ... and the teacher appeared.

Thank you so much. Omg! Now i can buy my new Tombow Brush Pens! I've put off doing that until I succeeded at "Bouncy Time" as I call it! I've been using Pentel Touch and Crayola Broadline. I learnt the basic strokes, bought all your books, just need to finish the last one Flourishing. This video helps as I started bouncing my letters in my craft projects. In calligraphy I found, except the basic strokes, there are no rules but there are rules, so when I got to the last two books, I was a bit lost, and that's why it is taking me so long. Thanks anyway, I enjoy all your videos and your teaching. You are a great teacher.

Thanks!! :D I'm all ready to start Bouncing and Stylizing on Monday as a retake of your Small Pens workbook series, this time with a pointed pen rather than brush pens. I'm having even more fun with pointed pen calligraphy, but I am really glad that I learned the techniques of small brush pens first so that I can focus more on learning the finer "points" of pointed pen calligraphy (there's a Dad-joke pun for you!) without trying to learn the Basic Strokes, the Minuscules, the Majuscules, etc., at the same time. It's all working out wonderfully well -- thank you!!!
