"people have the right to refuse being taken from their home to a tiny shed" That irritates me so much, they prefer to keep turning public places into trash. Those homeless advocates are the worst everybody can see that!! We need more strict laws to prevent this mess!!!

It is very hard to take a guy wearing paints and a dress seriously. The entitlement that these "BUM'S" think they deserve baffles the mind. There is help for people who want to change a negative into a positive. But there are rules and these Bum's don't want rules they want what THEY want. And should not get "anything".!!!

I was homeless for ten years because of getting injured at work and the workers comp nightmare. I don’t drink or do drugs and I kept my “ camp” clean and free of trash. I kept all my stuff in a shopping cart that I took with me and took down my tent and packed it every morning. I never had any issues with the city, business or people working downtown. I closed my worker comp case because nobody would hire me and lost the healthcare that worker’s compensation provided. That said, I worked until I could get an apartment at temp jobs. Now I have been off the streets for four years and just had my three year anniversary at work. The key is to stay neat and clean and pack your belongings. Don’t panhandle and don’t steal and people won’t complain.

Nowhere to relieve yourself with dignity. I chose a grocery bag or a bottle. I actually got really sick on the street and it's no place to have the runs. It's impossible to keep things like work clothes clean and neat because you're covered in exhaust and road dust. It's hard to eat frugally because you have no food prep or storage. LA is expensive. A minimum wage job or anything below $30 an hour is not enough. I live in the Bay Area and make $30/hour, but I live with my brother and his wife. I wouldn’t be able to afford it on my own even with my job and investments.

Most people have no animosity towards the homeless. The issue is when they decide to setup in public areas causing a health hazard etc.

And, they also break into people’s cars and homes and steal to fund their addiction. I know of people whose homes were broken into by local druggies.

I grew up in Venice and went to the beach all the time! I was a lifeguard there! I'm glad to see them clean up the homeless problem but we need to set up a place for them to relocate to!!!

The homeless dude removing the graffiti is very kind and humble. Unfortunately those freshly painted walls are going to be recovered in graffiti within a few days.

That’s job security. I watched a documentary about the Venice skatepark and the skaters behind getting it done. Those guys remove graffiti every morning before people get there.

That painter you spoke with has quite the spirit. Home doesnt necessarily equate to happiness which this man has in spades. But I hope he starts spending a little towards himself. Either way great video and that interaction made me real happy.

You're the man GiV. Thank you for giving the guy painting the walls time to talk. Sometimes we just need someone to listen and thank you for being there for him. A true man of the people, GiV.
