    Take a look at my build for this mini workbench made from black walnut with maple accents. Great for dovetail work, detail work and small pieces, and much easier on your back to have the extra elevation.

    Incredible craftsmanship! I love the idea of a mini workbench. I do a lot of other work and don't have enough space for a dedicated woodworking bench. I would recommend replacing the allen screws with a couple of knurled brass thumb screws. I think it would make using it much smoother

    I like what I see here but would enjoy a longer, more detailed version. Good stuff!

    This is a pretty solid little workbench. While once you figure out how it comes together, it is physically Easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh by yourself. But the diagrams explaining the steps are really pretty bad. I could not get the handle pins in all the way despite multiple attempts, so I just used a screw I had on hand for the 2nd handle. I could not get the first pin in further or pull it back out. You are supposed to hammer it in, but I had no leverage and the handle is plastic and I did not want to risk breaking it. I will get a lot of use out of the bench because of the convenient size and height. It does fold up nicely for storage. They even explain how to fold it so you don't get pinched...that is important!

    Nice build! Are you going to drill dog holes in it?

      I’ve actually delivered this to the end-user and he is going to. At the time this was built, I didn’t have a drill press and he did.

    How is the balance with the longer overhang on the vice end? Would you change that if you made it again?

    • @bradleybaker5999
      @bradleybaker5999  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s really not bad. This is my 2nd iteration of mini bench and I feel like the balance is good on this one. My first one was definitely vise-heavy and felt lopsided. On the other hand, it’s often clamped to the surface below it so it’s a non-issue.

    The finishing part may well be boring to u bro bcos u do it all the time but I'm just starting out and I wanna see all that great stuff.. I love to see how wood looks just as u put that 1st coat on with a rag or brush or whatever u use..
    So the wood is called Black Walnut?
    Do u have any videos on the best woods to use for beginners and could u do a video on what are best practices when u go to a lumber yard..?? If u know about that stuff bcos it's all good stuff to know and I need to know bro..LOL..
    Great Mini Bench btw.. Beautifully made too and finsihed even though u never showed us that part.. What?! I've got OCD man..

      Don't be too hard on the guy, filming is alot of work. That is walnut, black walnut is very dense and dark. Check out Paul Sellers channel on th-cam.com/users/PaulSellersWoodwork. He covers everything you need to know.
      here is a great how to finish video by him th-cam.com/video/UssYj-98oCg/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=PaulSellers
      Enjoy and happy woodworking!

    I love the plane stop, but I'm just curious, why not knobs? Why have a hidden key that you have to look for or potentially lose?

    • @bradleybaker5999
      @bradleybaker5999  ปีที่แล้ว

      Knobs have the potential to catch on clothing and rip if you carry the bench from place to place. Depending on how much you transport this, it was a trade off between smooth screw heads and knobs. Realistically you don’t have to tighten and loosen the screw heads very much. Usually a swift knock from your fist will raise or lower the stop well enough.
