📝Basic information:
Location: Poland
Date of recording: October 2022
About my work - I remove beaver dams when I receive an order from a state organization.
I do not choose which dam to remove. It is decided by officials at the request of nearby residents. Each dam is assessed in advance if it can and if should be dismantled.
Removing the dam is not a threat to beavers. I do not remove their houses - lodges.
Dams are removed only in places where beavers cause damage, for example by flooding nearby fields, flooding the basements of nearby houses, or when the stream on which beavers built their dam is degraded.
Even though beavers are very invasive animals, they are under strict protection in our country.
I personally like all animals, so beavers are fine too.

That was a huge dam and very, very deep! The flooded area encroaching onto the fields really showed the destruction that beavers' dams can cause to agricultural land. A few days of heavy rainfall and a vast area would be flooded within a very short space of time. Good job on clearing this!

Syzyfowa praca, już co najmniej drugi raz tu działacie. Jedynie słuszna metoda to pozbycie się przyczyny a dopiero później leczenie skutków.
W tym roku tym obszarem będzie zajmował się już inny wykonawca, wiec to już nie nasz problem 😉 A bardziej rzeczowo mówiąc, to cała populacja powinna być zmniejszona, przynajmniej w miejscach gdzie faktycznie wyrządzają więcej szkody niż pożytku.

We do not remove the lodges. In addition, in these areas, beavers in most cases, instead of building lodges, dig holes in the banks of the stream. And so they hide.
I recognise this area. The beavers keep rebuilding the dam here.

You sound like you could do with a rest when you got to the dam. There's a lot of water there take care. I did say take care, the water looked way to cold to be having a swim in.
Somehow I managed to survive this day without swimming in the stream, although it was close - see minute 8:46 😉

You never see a big dam ?!? . . . I see realy big dam , in forest of Québec, at apprx.200 miles North of Mt-Laurier ,in hydrographic versant of Lièvre river .The discharge of lake Jacques , the dam have one and half mile long , 12 feet high ... when the bulldozer ( D-10 ) broke this dam , water flo during 3 days long , and make a canyon 70 feet deep . It was in 1989 .sorry for my english i'm french .

I'm guessing you are doing this because the water level is causing some destruction near by. Why not just install a beaver deceiver to control the water level. Then you get to keep all the advantages that beaver ponds bring - and they are many.

And that's why people like you are dumb! The last thing you want to do is leave the mud and sticks right where the beaver can easily use them to rebuild the dam! the best thing you can do is float them Downstream and out of the way.

Is this method common in the area? To send the wood downstream without effort to clear the water is unheard of where I live. WOW! Wrong bucket and disregard for neighboring conditions. No thank you.
